Cowboys, Gold & Grizzlies

Settled between British Columbia’s coastal mountains and Interior Plateau, the Chilcotin range is rugged and wild, catering to all-day epics with frozen fingers and soggy shoes. Wade Simmons and Andrew Shandro went hunting for empty singletrack and beautiful views during their visit this past September, and the Chilcotins delivered in full–they always do.

In a way I agree with spencerdavies. I have been mountain biking since 1984 so I'm an old mountain biker. Let's be honest Skidding is for the camera. Don't get me wrong they are legends but look at every video and there is always skidding. And what does a new mountain biker what to do but replicate what they see. And in turn it deteriorates and ruts trails. Video is still awesome but he is is right about the new trail permits--the environmentalists will just use videos like this to prove their points.

All I can say is those are some awesome trails!!! But next time you make a video, FreehubMag, use The same location... only have James Doerfling or Chris K........... hiking up to one of the top of those mountains and skidding and freeriding it down!!!!

That would be RAD!!!!

thats the south chilcoltin park..... the ruts one would make going down a scree slope would take decades to even out. i understand where your coming from but lets keep the skidding and freeriding to bike parks/less sensitive ecological areas. I'd like to see people in the future enjoying this area without those scars/human traces

Not to be a hater but you don't need to skid every time you go down a hill. Why do you think it's hard for new (legal) trails to get a permit to build?

K, i have made like 3 comments ever on pinkbike but i felt the need to comment here....I'm not a keyboard troll, just an old mountain biker, and i can see your young and probably don't understand so I'll tread lightly. You are seriously telling Wade Simmons and Andrew Shandro not to skid on trails? Too funny, Most of the trails in the world wouldn't be here today without these guys. These guys basically created everything you know about mountain biking today. We wouldn't have the bikes that we ride today or the sick trails with out them and several others who pioneered the whole sport. So they are out in the wilderness of Canada, skidding there tires a few times to remember whats its like to ride a bike like a playful kid (such as yourself) and you want to shake your finger at them? To them I say "Thank You, Skid all you want, I'll would be delighted to come up and do the trail work to fix any and all damages to the trails (if any) to repay you for all you've done for the mountain bike community. To you I say, please do more research before you are so quick to judge.

@jtvesp: You may think I'm just a "kid" but I know my shiz. I race mountain bikes for team USA, work at a local bike shop, and I know that Wade Simons and Andrews Shandros use of the back brake was extremely excessive.
