First Look: Vittoria's New Mostro Enduro Race Tire
@tplambert: I ran Barzos front and rear on two trips in Tucson and they held up just fine to hard and fast riding in the rocky terrain. They can't compete with a burly tire for real abuse, but they will hold up great to most riders on most trails.

First Look: Vittoria's New Mostro Enduro Race Tire
@Brdjanin: if you know how to ride smooth and shift your weight properly, the Barzo can be a wicked fast trail tire. I took 2nd place in an Enduro running them in SoCal loose over hard conditions. NOT a good tire for really loose terrain as the knobs are too small to dig in. If you are the type who relies on raw traction of a tire versus finesse...there are better (heavier and slower) options. I prefer the Agarro as an all around "fast enought while still grippy and tough" tire...but I also weigh 210+ gear and like to ride more tech and jumps lately.

5 Things We Learned from Red Bull Hardline Tasmania
#1 is the reality for most riders. I have been riding bikes since I was a BMX kid in the 70s, and mtn biking since the late 80s/early 90s. The worst crashes I've had were directly tied to being complacent on "the easy stuff", not losing it on big hits and serious tech/gnar.

5 Things We Learned from Red Bull Hardline Tasmania
@puukkopedro: people think athletes are "paid to play the sport" and that is not at all true. They are paid to generate revenue for the people paying them. In theory, the more you make for your "employer" the more they pay you. In the big picture, professional mtn bikers are in a tiny niche sport. And if they ride for a large team they are getting a salary/contract wage AND whatever bonuses come with winning on top of their race purse. So they are doing OK, or they would choose something else. Even the privateers willingly take the "crap pay" for love of the sport.

Fox Racing Releases New Dropframe Pro Helmet
Doing research on this helmet and came across this thread. I completely agree with your take on the previous version. I have that, an A3, and a pair of TLD Stages. They all get used, but the Dropframe is my go to unless I am hitting the jumpline or bike park. The extra protection matters on overgrown trails and on the cooler rides.Only reason I am looking for new is the old one has a fixed peak and is getting old...time for something new, and the 2024 Pro is the likely choice.

Pinkbike Poll: How Many Days Did You Ride in 2023?
@jasbushey: every biker is traffic! Anyone complaining about ebikes purely for that reason needs to look in the mirror. Regardless of the (assuming legal) mode of transportation, we all have the same rights to our trails.

Pinkbike Poll: How Many Days Did You Ride in 2023?
@sanchofula: what about people with other interests beyond riding? Or people who ride a ton and want to be able to do easy rides with friends? I work harder in the gym 5-6 days a week than I ever did when I raced mtn bikes, and am considering an eMtb late this year so I can still have fun in spite of the system fatigue from heavy gym days. The arrogance/narrow mindedness of some people is amazing. Who gives a damn what anyone rides, as long as they are respectful of the trails, nature, and other trail users?

Pinkbike Poll: How Many Days Did You Ride in 2023?
@kevinturner12: why ease off? Go hard until you can't, then go not as hard. As long as you are going, you are winning.

Pinkbike Poll: How Many Days Did You Ride in 2023?
@warmerdamj: Plenty of people who ride a lot more than I do suck! Time in the saddle DOES NOT equate to skill. A lot of us who don't ride much have our reasons (mine is that the gym took priority in 2023). I make sure I ride enough to maintain skills learned over 45+ years of riding. So yeah, I am part of that 61.8% AND a Mountain Bike God (with horrible cardio fitness right now)! Anyone who rides and shares the stoke is cool in my book!

Review: LoamLab Counterpunch Hand Protecting Grips
these and more traditional bar ends help a ton with hand placement and pressure. I have much more control running with bar ends than I do when I try buddys' bikes without them. And they don't get in the way of anything I've ridden...
