What’s the Significance of the Specialized Direct-to-Consumer Move? It’s Complicated.
@browntown40: The incentive is to get all the after-sale money the customer spends, tune ups, replacement parts, clothes, tires, etc. There really is no difference between a customer buying online and a customer buying at the shop across town. Gone are the days of free lifetime tune-ups, all those tunes are billable now. The classic LBS mindset of "you didn't buy your bike here, so we'll treat you like trash" is what's been killing LBS for decades.

Vee Tire Co. Officially Announces Sponsorship of Intense Factory Racing & 3 More UCI DH Teams for 2022
@adrennan: Probably hoping they're the sponsor de jour if and when Gwin ever returns to the podium. Sponsorships are a monetary transaction 99% of the time, every company sponsoring anybody knows they may lose to a higher bidder when the contract is up, just as every sponsored rider should know that if they don't perform they may not be worth resigning wen the contract is up. Hard to say if Gwin is leaving sponsors, or sponsors are leaving him, not like anything good came out of his relationship with Kenda, or Onza, or whoever else he's been with since he quit riding blacked out Minions.

Original Volvo Cannondale XC jersey

$45 USD
Original Volvo Cannondale XC jersey from the good old days when they were the kings and queens of MTB. Size medium, definitely been worn, but would make a solid framable piece of art for your bike room. Open to any reasonable offer, had it laying around for way to long, need to make some space in the closet

Industry Digest: Ellsworth's New Owners, Shimano Shuts Down Fake Website & 2022 Predictions
@carym: This is what baffles me every few years when a new entity buys Ellesworth, what are they actually buying and why? There can’t be much IP worth owning, so it’s just the name and reputation, which is less than worthless

Review: SRAM's New HS2 Rotors - Thicker is Better
@SkipSkovhugger: I have a 2mm thick,160mm Magura rotor from 2003, they've been doing the thick rotor thing for a while. Thick rotors are the jam!

British Columbia Duo Starts Farside Components, Introduces Gorgeous Cyclic Stem
@takeiteasyridehard: forging is cheap at massive scale, and fast, that’s why cheapie stems are generally forged. The raw forging also doesn’t lend itself to making small intricate details, which is why cheap stems are often “pillowy” looking. So you’re correct in that most billet stems are superior to most forged ones, however a forged blank that was then finish machined would be unequivocally better than a pure billet one. Problem is it would be crazy expensive which would mean the cost to forge it would be amortized over very few parts, making it even more horrifyingly expensive.

British Columbia Duo Starts Farside Components, Introduces Gorgeous Cyclic Stem
@diggerandrider: Stems are also one of the components you’re most likely to swap out from whatever can stick on your bike. Makes sense to start with a part people are not only likely to buy, but one that has relatively live risk in the design when trying to get your feet wet in the industry. Stems, pedals, chainrings, that’s the easy stuff, after that complexity skyrockets
