WARNIING - Long text, great to help sleeping! EB (Electric Bikes) are not like MTB nor Moto. Would I trade any of this for only 1 EB? nope! Which one has it's advantages and disadvantages. Saying you've record maximum HR on a EB is lame... sorry! Are they intensive in terms of physical stamina? No... at least not as much as MTBs (which are more intensive) Not has Moto (which is less intensive). I would say, EBs are in the middle. And this is explained in a simple form: On EBs with some kind of physical prep, you can ride almost 3h non-stop (up/down/up/down... until you see the low bat warning light). You "rest" on the climbs and charge on the descents, but basically you have plenty of time to recover. On MTBs if you do this, it seems you're in a XCO race... and descents are where you can "recover". If you don't stop descents are not as fun as resting like 2...3 minutes to catch your breath. Moto, is less than MTBs and EBs but will depends really on the challenge! If it's really hard technical trail, with some steep, technical uphill’s, where you have to push the bike in some places (and I'm not talking HardEnduro here... because if I were, than MOTO handsdown!)... then I would say it's on pair with MTB - really! Saying this, do I mean you enjoy more the descents on a EBs than a MTB? ahhh... +/- EBs are heavier, but the speed limit beyond 25km/h really bothers because it seems you drop the anchor at 25!, and that idea of heavier bike giving more stability.... well, sorry but it's completely BS! The feeling between EBs and MTB, would say it's like comparing two strokes (2t) and four strokes (4t) of the throttle! If "you" don't know what I mean, basically 4t have more motor braking than on a 2t. On the descents you feel it... a lot this drag! Endurance speaking? also in the middle, although if you moto all day long (only possible if you have multiple batteries on EB) than I would say MTB (Marathons and long all-day rides), Moto (all day long) and then EB. Will EB stop being produced? Don’t think so! And with EB coming as low as 2.5K like in Decathlon new line, with Brose motors and entry level equipment, but with go geo or even some EBs from renown brands at 3.5/4k. Will MTBs be replaced by EBs? Don’t think so… but a serious sales reduction will occur in the coming years, for sure! And to be honest, EBs, start a new "Fun-Game" on which ride: "CAN I CLIMB THAT?". Something on MTB you wouldn't even think about, on moto would be like drinking water, and on EB is a challenge and it's HARD and FUN at the same time. For someone like me, who prefer descents over climbs.... it has changed completly my ride! In conclusion: EBs are great machines to have fun on the trails. For an experience rider, it’s an excellent option to get fit (I lost more weight with an EB (+/- 3 rides a week) than a MTB (3rides/Week) or gym (3x a week). I do think due to lower HR,… but I really don’t know why! It was something I wasn't expecting), and it permits perfecting the riding technic or line choice! You don't spike (HR speaking) like on MTBs /Road Bike, but you maintain the HR high all the ride, if you don't stop like me! The only really downside is price! It's a lot of money! Today EBs are only for those who can afford, tomorrow... we'll have to wait|
