@Uuno: you might be surprised how small the actual changes in angles are. I simulated rotating from parallel to steerer (64°) to vertical (90°) in CAD, it resulted in less than 1° difference in upsweep. So rolling your riser bar really is mainly an adjustment in stem length.

Finally someone who gets it! I am getting so annoyed with media pushing the story about riser bars do not affect reach vs. spacers do.

I don’t care whether it is spacers or a high rise bar, because against popular opinion, both do exactly the same, at least if you keep bar roll at a neutral position (the one manufacturers designed it to). How do I know? Because I asked, you can find their answers on bikerumor. Yes, you can roll them forward, but then you are essentially doing the same as riding a long stem, not something I would want.

Still wondering how retiring from Sea Otter Classics should help their situation. Surely it doesn’t make it more attractive to potential buyers, and what cost shall it reduce? Seems like a panic move rather than something that was thought through.

I love that there are some bikes left with short chainstays… well actually not. But at least, we get 435 here.

To me, 30 mm is just about the maximum gap in reach that is reasonable. I can ride anything between a 35 and 50 mm stem, so that cuts the reach gap by half.

I had one. It cracked after about three rides despite being heavy. And still, I hope Intense would get back to where it was back then.

I am very sure I can feel pedal kickback on my bike, and it is typically in chattery braking zones. You can prevent your rear wheel from skipping in these situations, the wheel will stop when leaving the ground and start to rotate again when touching the ground. Not sure whether 6 magnets are enough to pick that up, but for sure ignoring a skipping rear wheel is a mistake when talking about pedal kickback not being real.
