It's called "panning" people,a photography technic where the background looks moved, but the subject it's in focus, so you get a feeling of speed/movement. The focus is on her, OBVIOUSLY...
The shutter speed for this photo is 1/250. Pans are are typically 1/80 or below. 1/30 would probably be suitable for a low lit forest. This isn't a pan, it's just motion blur.
"motion blur" is not a photography technic, that's just filter that can be found in photoshop now days for people who can't pull off a good panning from the camera. Panning is panning even if he had it done by accident @ 1/250.
Massini64 to me she is in focus, well, a lot more anything else in the picture.
The idea is there, but it was not executed properly…...as "POD" should be. I think a FOCUSSED panning shot is easier to achieve with a faster moving subject. perhaps a different technique could have been used here….. No more sense beating a dead horse….this picture is blurry!
a lot of "photography experts" on here who sure don't know a damn thing about what makes good and bad photography. Pretty rad shot in what was probably challenging conditions.
And do your homework on the photographer in question before you put your feet in your mouths ;-)
Guys I am sorry, but this photo totally draws my vision allover and makes my eyes crossed. The subject is too hard to find because it is out of focus. How did this photo get pod when my pan shot is technically perfect...etc. Hope u guys know what you sound like, take more photos and critique far faar less.
@jcklondon idk what youre smoking but this pan is perfect technically and the subject is in focus... and don't tell people you have a perfect pan shot if it isn't even on your profile for us to view, at least I couldn't find one...
The point is the pod comment section seems like an amateur's haters ball when ppl are arguing over composition and f stops. Ian hylands clones in tight jeans and expensive dslrs and ruining the pod with that sort of passive aggressive horsecrap.
good thought, but many times, autofocus wont know what to do with a biker, as there are so many gaps in an image of a person biking, so a lot of time, it will end up focusing on the background instead.
Ok bud. If you really wanna sort through the homepage then go for it. The last "homepage" thing I commented on was March 26th on BigTimber's article "Is Enduro the One?" www.pinkbike.com/u/BigTimber/blog/Is-Enduro-the-One.html
PS I'm entitled to comment on whatever I like and if you have a problem then ignore me.
I think this has been selected as POD for the subject of the picture over the quality. Stop yo' moaning and appreciate that trail dogs are cool and therefore this is POD.
The quality isn't even THAT bad!
