Going to order one up in the next couple weeks, thanks again for guinea'ing this one dude.
I assume you're running a 9sp chain? Sram or shimano? Not that it matters much, but I'd prefer to duplicate your setup if possible, since it's now known to work.
@ A300hp - I was pretty psyched it was so successful. And just for the record, this was not my original idea. Steevoo on MTBR pointed me in the right direction here. His specs were spot on. He deserves all the credit for this one.
Yes - the drivetrain is sram 9spd aside from the rear derailleur.
sweeeeeet... i read this in the xx1 post.. this makes me so happy ! i can get a second hand mech from a friend,. the only problem is that i need to look for a sram shifter.. right ?? Shimano mech with sram shifter.. (the Shimano shifter will not work in this way ???) right ?
I want to run a 9sp chain (stronger vs 10sp) on a 9sp cassette (lighter than a 10sp) with a 10sp only shimano zee rear derailleur. Is this all I need to do so my 10sp ZEE derailleur index shifts correctly for 9sp cassette spacing? Of course running a 9sp Saint shifter--or do I have other options?
@EvoRidge - The shifter needs to be a sram 9spd model for this to work. The 9spd shimano derailleurs have a different pull ratio than the 10 spd group. The 10spd shimano rear derailleurs have a very similar pull to the sram ratio. The little spacer block tunes the pull ratio on the shimano 10spd der to almost identicle to the sram ratio. I doubt the saint shifter you plan on running will work.
