Selected by Scott Secco - Managing to capture a photo of lightning is difficult. The fact that Bruno also showcased Revelstoke's incredible singletrack is mind-boggling. I'm shocked this photo wasn't a contender in our POY contest.
This is amazing, and the fact that Bruno did capture a photo of lightning at the same time as the riders are riding through that corner is absolutely incredible.
Lightning travels in pulses through the sky and down to the ground, you can see some of the pulses along it. If it were a long exposure capturing the lightning and then edited in, it would be a much more consistent light along its length as the pulses would be evened out. Just a seriously lucky piece of timing on an already epic shot!!!
Just a bit of foresight (saw the storm coming for a few hours), some stupidity (heading up to the highest piece of land I could find) and a boat load of luck. One photo, hand-help in the craziest storm I've ever been in. The ride down was the scariest part. Sketchy dust turned to mud with booming lighting overhead. Biggest crash of the year on the descent.
