The lockring of the cassette was rusty and stuck in the hub. It was impossible to take it off, even with putting my full weight on it or putting some oil in it. Several people tried and no one succeeded on getting it off. That was untill I had the idea of ductaping and ziptying one tool to the wheel so I could smack the other half as hard as I could with a hammer. It worked :D
haha. Always put grease on install. And it was not rust but corrosion .Alloy makes this white crap that is like crazy glue. next time if it ever happens again soak it in ammonia . It will break up the white stuff and free it up. Its like a calcium deposit .
I bought the wheelset 2nd hand and they also sent the cassette on it (later I knew why ). I wanted to ride single speed so I needed to take it off anyway. But thanks for the advise! If this'll ever happen to me again I'll do that
creatieve oplossing! achteraf had je ook de cassette lockring tool in een bankschroef vast kunnen zetten en met een pijp de arm van de ketting zweep kunnen verlengen. Mits bij de hand natuurlijk. wel leuke oplossing die van jou..
Other option for next time is simply slamming the whole lot into the ground, same sort of effect as an impact driver, works a treat! If you'd already tried that....then good work sir.
