I've been obsessing over 1967-1972 GMC trucks and Jimmy's. I want one so badly. I just have to sell my Firebird first. But the K5s are so expensive! It's crazy!
that's shitty man. I heard vehicles were pretty cheap down south... guess that might have been a bit presumptuous. I envy your firebird, I've always wanted one!
For a driveable 1967-1972 GMC Jimmy, don't expect to pay less than about $12,000. That's about where they are sitting at. It's not thaaat expensive, but a solid C10 or K10 from that era is around $8,000.
I like the Firebird, and it's in really good shape, but it just isn't practical if I ever want to take a bike with me somewhere. It has just over 40,000 original miles (when we got it it had like 36k), we bought it from the original owner who put it in storage for about 30 years, and it has all the paperwork, down to oil changes. It was in storage from 1985 until when we found it earlier this year, and in that period, it collected about 8,000 miles.
f*cking rad. Couple Carb issues (easy fix), and I put a new fuel filter, pump and changed the fuel lines with (partial) soft lines... and now she's rollin' real nice!
No leaks, a bit noisy, and lots of exhaust fumes with the rear window open. It's fun.
Our trucks are from the same generation and share a lot of parts. My dad is an old mechanic and used to own the same truck and knows it inside out. Let me know if you have any questions bro. Only difference between ours really is that mine is a 305 and yours is a 350. Man, considering how shitty mine is on gas, good luck!!
Actually it's not as bad as I feared. Only costs about $5.50 to start it up, and another $3 to leave the parking lot. :shudder:
Cheers man! She's in wicked condition. I'm happy working on it myself, but I do have a couple of mechanic friends to help me out with anything that stumps me. Failing that, you'll be the first to hear from me!
a couple grand could get you a long ways if you go to wreckers and source parts. it'd be sweet! and no, I dont have payments on my vehicle. thanks for asking.
Nothing too exciting. More lights, some boring engine shit (super basic fuel line mods), sound system stuff... that kinda thing. New tires and some other cool stuff coming when Jumpship's done!
still 33s will get ya stuck, my buddy had one and he got it stuck in the middle of a river and we had to walk 5 k outta the bush in the dark, and does it say my name on the roof in the front? cause he sold it to some buddy that said he was gonna fix it all up
