Selected by Ian Hylands - I just really like the cool treatment on this shot. Cool as in a little to the blue side of the spectrum as opposed to warmer tones, not cool as in, "that's cool!" It really works with the misty look, and I like that the shot is mostly about the environment and just has a bit of bridge and rider tucked away almost like a Where's Waldo shot...
barnseyhcxc's mistake 'stocked'... as in 'stocked up for the winter', and then spoony cleverly linked it up with the fact that the photo is dark and blue-ish, which is what it might look like if we suffered a nuclear war. but i wouldn't know, i've never experienced one.
is the photo guy EVER happy with pictures? I think this was the first. I would rather read that little box with something that says "love this picture cause buddy is blah blah blah", not "well this picture is ok cause there isnt enough cow bell and what cow bell there is, there is not enough light to fully capture its essence of banging."
Alot of people like the fact that photographers from 'decline' and 'bike' mag etc. talk about their photos though. Its always intresting to read their comments
the idea is to learn something , there is 60 comments right after it usually making me gag on how wonder full the pic is... ill go with the critics read any day..
Mr. Highlands, Cool is one way to describe this picture... I would say more haunting? The bluish tones brings on the effect of a ghost rider in the fog. Cool, hell yeah it is! But a second look also gives me the idea that this image also would be a great oepening for a Folgers Coffee comercial- Its early, rider wakes up with coffee, then hits all the trails to check them out before the sun really comes up- best way to start a day. Good selection!
It's pictures like this that make me love photography. It's haunting and beautiful at the same time. It's got an eerie feel to it, yet it's rather calming. It's not easy to capture a picture like that. Props to the photographer
Its days like this that make me love riding and life. Its wet and cool, everything feels alive and fresh. Then the walls the fog creates for you wrap you up in it and make you a part of it. You feel like a ghost focused on nothing but working perfectly with the terrain you are floating over. Intent inhuman focus and achievement in a world that only those who frequent it can even begin to understand. This Is why I get up in the mornings.
Honestly how is this a POD? If you can spot the biker amongst the trees, which takes up 99% of the pic, he isn't even doing anything impressive. don't get me wrong its great photography. Its crisp and clear but this is pinkBIKE. I want to see great shots of bikers doing something badass not trees. If I want great landscaping i'd go to HGTV.
