A big THANK YOU is going out to the four guys in the background who helped me screaming at the riders to throw some style over the jump!

Selected by Sterling Lorence - I will admit, I am a sucker for snapped out whip shots like this. The whip has great dynamic and is especially sick when scrubbed, and simply is one of the coolest looking tricks our sport has to offer. Wide angle lens choice was good here. Helps lift the rider up, and also gives us a combo of blue sky across the top and a balanced share of race course detail and the table top. Shooting long lens here pushes the riders into the forest too much and makes for dark shots. The nice morning side lighting here at Sea Otter brings good contrast and colour across Danny and his bike, and also brings to life the peanut gallery on the lower left. Props to the photographer for being there early. Composition is dialed, but it would have been cool to see what happened one or two frames later too. Nice POD!
yeah its spelt kullr. get it rite.
but serioosly, fantastic photo, great action. love the whip especially on a dh course. cheers for posting the picture.
'Colour' is the original English/Norman way of spelling 'colour'. During the Anglo/French wars of the 15/16th century's there was a lot of anti French sentiment and various things of French origin got eradicated or anglicized. Certain words of French/Norman origin that contained overtly French spellings, like 'colour' and 'valour', were re-spelled without the 'u'. Then, in the late 1600's when the English colonized America, that spelling came with them. However, later on after the French revolution, Parisian court French became fashionable in England again and the letter 'u' was reintroduced to the spellings. Hence, US-color, UK-colour.
