may be a personal question... but why are you selling all your stuff? I see you'e using gary fong diffusers... represent! I'd love to have 3 clouds to flood a whole shot! no filters? I can't imagine you're not using any... unless you protect your lenses with insuance! haha
Getting out of Photography for the time being too busy with my kids, work, and other stuff. As for the no filters, i don't buy $2000 lenses to put a $50 piece of crap glass in front of all that goodness...less sharp, adds CA, less saturation and contrast and light fall off at the edges on my full frame bodies...not worth it in my opinion. I have been shooting for years and have never had an issue with scratching my lenses...
I'll agree with you there... using UV filters seems unnecesary for many situations. having kids is a great excuse to put anything aside for the time being. I'll definitely resepect that. I hope you get back to taking shots soon!(no rush)
Whats the need of two identical 70-200s, was one sent for warranty while you bought another or are they both the same age and you have a partner that shoots with you?
I have them both because if one fails during a wedding, or something else super important I want another for backup. Just like I have 3 camera bodies. That lens is the most versatile lens so I better get another right?
I use the IS mostly when my subjects aren't moving like at Weddings when low shutter speeds are needed because of the low amount of available light inside churches. Also I used it in mode 2 when I shoot panning images with low shutter speeds as well. I would say if you can afford to get it do it but if you want to save a few bucks for another lens then go that route.
