This collage is the result of 2 days of planning, buying, constructing and gas guzzling. We were originally just going to attatch the box once we got to downtown and get a couple shots, but we decided to put her to the test and drive from Coquitlam to downtown Vancouver through the crazy Olympic crowds and traffic, then to the shore to actually go for a ride, then once again back to Coquitlam. There were a few sketchy moments on the Trans Canada Highway where the wind was really threatening the design, but a few adjustments later, myself (Liam Mullany) and my accomplice John Fisher drafted or way downtown behind some other cars, racer style.
We did a couple laps of the streets in the downtown core, apparently as we learned all you have to do is start singing the words OH CANADA and the crowd both joins in and goes nuts. Fun shore ride as well, had to keep it fast tight trains in spirit of the movie.
Thanks, well it works out because my big bike is rediculously old and clunky, and my friend just got a brand new downhill bike. So I'm going to keep the Faith and buy him a brand new dirt jump bike which he has wanted to get.
You have to understand the point of the contest for Anthill though. It wasn't just a competition so kids could make pretty pictures for them, it was marketing. I mean sure, lets say I took a picture of my naked girlfriend in a room with follow me somewhere in there, yes hundreds of 13 year old kids will fave because mom has set up blockers on naughty sites and holy crap cleavage on pinkbike! But how does that help them?
These guys put alot of effort into getting this done, and they essentially drove a billboard through 7 cities promoting the film to thousands of curious people. I mean sure, it was a pretty simple idea, but they effectively did what the Anthill guys were hoping to get out of this contest much better than anybody else.
This was a brilliant idea for Anthill to do this, having hundreds maybe even thousands of people all over the world essentially fighting for who could advertise for them better.
