The bit where you have to be good at riding is where I gave up!
  • 25 0
 Same here...
Being good in riding and good in editing/filming are two that don't go together....in my case... actually.. I suck at all ...
  • 63 1
 Ditto, also, whats Instagram?
  • 7 0
Same here. I normally try to win something with jokes about my undersized equipment, that i am finally comfortable posting about after many years of therapy.
  • 3 0
 @Trailstunter: two words: chris akrigg
  • 12 2
@richierocket: me too, why can't they just ask for some footage off an iPhone via a text message / email! Then normal people could enter...
  • 19 0
I can send them a nude pic of my girlfriend ... they might even like it!! Although I need some serious fish eye lens to get her fitting inside the picture frame....
  • 10 3
Insta..what?A contest for metric folks? Smile
  • 9 6
@richierocket: instagram is another of these popular trends which won't last for very long, such as the "internet", "facebook", "twitter", or "whatsapp"...
  • 4 5
 @daddyyoyo: Thanks captain obvious...
  • 9 3
@cunning-linguist: there is nothing "not-normal" about instagram

stop being so hipster
  • 6 0
How much minutes does it cost to create an instagram account just for this contest (and in reality also browsing girls in yoga pants)? It's not like you turn into a super millennial by having an ig account..
  • 21 0
how can I make 60 seconds of eating cereal and putting gear on look steezy?
  • 1 2
@DuelingBanjos: You still riding 26" wheels dude.....
  • 2 0
Yeah, there's really about 5 people in the world who can win this bike, everyone else is basically a bikeless pylon.
  • 2 0
@cunning-linguist: Cos I'd end up sending the 30 sec footage I have of... well, it felt like longer!
  • 1 0
@bonkywonky: you mean to say I could win a bike, get to ride with a pro, and get to look at girls in yoga pants?!?!?! Sign me up!!! But turning into a super millennial? thats gross.... is that like catching the clap? can penicillin fix it?
  • 8 0
 @thinkbike:

1: Lots of slow mo
2: TLD kit
3: Some deep sounding background music
4: narration about 'passion', 'the ride', 'stoke', 'fun'
5: ????
6: Profit
  • 2 1
@daddyyoyo: instagram has been the most popular app for sharing photos for over 4 years now so
  • 3 0
Really the best strategy is to show off that you have awesome trails... Bryn is going to be like "i want to ride there" & pick your entry.
  • 1 0
@richierocket: How much a hipster weighs
  • 1 0
@lee-vps-savage: outstanding comment which should be at the top.....it's the only comment that really actually made me laugh out loud for real.....relate.....
  • 1 0
@CornishKiwi: was gonna say the same about groghunter's
  • 141 0
The fact that Bryn delivers the bike in person and goes riding with you is actually pretty cool.
  • 41 1
everything about this contest is pretty cool
  • 12 0
So you're telling me, you even win Bryn - mind blown
  • 5 0
So, if I live in Bellingham does that help or hurt my chances?
  • 6 1
@leopaul: Unless you need a small or XL frame. Sad trombone.
  • 1 0
@BenjaMama: Was wondering the same thing, until I read @slimboyjim's comment about needing actual skills...
  • 1 0
 @leopaul: except the frame size....
  • 36 3
Can I get the bike first and shoot the video after ?
  • 42 10
they lost me at instagram ....
  • 3 5
 Me too!
  • 18 4
stunning looking bike but Christ that's some work just to not win something!
  • 34 0
I'm hoping everyone feels the same, that way my video of me doing a wheelie off a kerb outside my house will win by default.
  • 9 0
@gibbon-on-an-orange: wouldn't it be awesome if the only entries were people doing that?
  • 8 1
Yeah what ever happend to the days of answer a question and have a winner pulled out of a hat
  • 10 0
Style, Creativity, Skill, Effort, and Location.
Style- my style is hold on tight and look scared while proceeding at a slow to average pace. But it's a style right so I should get points for that.
Creativity- I'm guess some of my line choices could be seen as creative?!
Skill- I can record clips on a smartphone and find an app to edit a video for me, that's considered a skill nowadays isn't it?
Effort- You wont believe the amount of effort it takes for me to get off my sofa and go and ride, it's alot.
Location- Err...in the woods...?

I think I've got this one folks, no need for any of you to enter.
  • 13 3
I don't have a filmer, nor am i a pro rider, how am i supposed to do all that? It's like the GoPro contest that ends up being awarded to sponsored athletes..
  • 7 0
take your phone. no one mentioned it had to be in 4k with super slow mo and a drone included
  • 12 4
This is a great idea. For those complaining about the effort you required to possibly not win anything, you don't deserve a prize like this. Good to see an awesome rig go to someone who deserves and will appreciate it.
  • 9 5
True, only people who have decent filming equipment should be able to win. Great point.
  • 11 0
@phobospwns: I expect you could win this with just a gopro and some creative editing/riding/filming locations.
  • 5 1
I would hope that the winner is someone that shows a true love for riding but is short on funds and has to ride an old clapped out rig.
  • 20 0
@phobospwns: You definitely don't need a flashy camera. A phone that can film and a homie to point it at ya is all you need. Good riding is what we're after
  • 5 0
@Bryn-Atkinson: Could you try to post the top 5 entries and a vid of you shredding with the winner?!?!
  • 2 0
I agree with @jayacheess. It seems like the contest is more about riding, style and getting creative with what you have whether it's a Gopro, IPhone or a high end camera. Super stoked on this contest because it does require actual forethought, time and effort!! Rather then just enter your email here..
  • 1 0
It's also the only way to get one of these bikes. I called a dealer in California about buying a large Range carbon frame last week and was told they only have one left in XS. I said "can you order a Large from Norco?" and he clarified "No, Norco HQ only has 1 XS frame left".
  • 2 0
@indydave124: Yeah that sounds like a pretty good idea
  • 1 0
@bvd453: so Norco isn't trying to sell more Ranges here? I don't get it. Cool contest, great prize (love that's spec!) tho..
  • 1 0
@islander: They're probably still some in misc. local bike shops, but it doesn't sound like they have any more framesets going out from the factory (according to my local dealer)
  • 2 1
@indydave124: You can have a great rig and still be short on money. Don't be discriminating on people riding high end bikes.
  • 1 0
@bvd453: does that mean a revamp? Longer, slacker?
  • 1 0
@themagicat: No. They just updated the bike this year. It means they sold all the units out of the latest production run (I would guess)
  • 1 0
@Bunabe: I have this problem and would love to have the Range but It would be cool to see someone that cant afford to upgrade get this rig. Like a single dad that spends all his money on his kids bikes and not his own.
  • 11 3
If I would win, I would ask Norco for a cheaper yet thousand times more valuable prize: Fly to wherever Bryn lives and get 2-3 coaching sessions with him.
  • 4 0
That would be Bellingham, WA. And while yo might not get coached by Bryn, you can watch him and Jill Kintner work the pumptrack. And you can get coaching from Shaums March (who does a spectacular job of that).
  • 3 1
@g-42: Just worked for Ryan Leech's online course with Shaums, seems like a really cool and knowledgeable dude! I mean I knew from long ago that he is a good coach, it was just the first time to hear him speak Big Grin
  • 2 0
@WAKIdesigns: he is. I'm still amazed that as a regular Joe, I get to spend a very reasonable amount to get that sort of coaching right in my town.
  • 3 0
@g-42: Bellingham is just up the road from me. If I take a vid of myself jumping a curb and then drive to Bryn's house, can I have the bike?
  • 3 0
@Poulsbojohnny: video of creepy stalking is always good.
  • 3 0
Kind of lame about the size though. We have medium. Might have a large, but no promises.

I guess I'm not the right size these days. I keep reading about guys my size, 6' 180lbs, as being big riders. I thought that was average?
  • 2 1
Average height in the US is 5'10" and weight is around 170 lbs. So we're close but a little over.
  • 11 1
 @seraph: you means 270lbs right!
  • 1 0
@rideonjon: Just wait, poutine now becoming trendy here.
  • 6 1
Editing, Instagram, and the chance to win a bike that is way too small...no. Good luck to everybody that fits a size M.
  • 3 0
@Bryn-Atkinson: This might be the only way I can get one of them orange 36s! Entering the contest in 3, 2, 1... any your requisite travel wouldn't be very far, either! Hahaha! Awesome contest man!
  • 6 1
 Instagram? what's it that?
  • 4 0
Even if I went throuhg the effort to enter, I'm 6,4 no way that bike would fit me.
  • 1 0
Remember folks, it has to be a NEW edit that you haven't published before, and if you DO NOT OWN the MUSIC soundtrack you are using, you have to get permission from the artist to do so.

from section 4 in the official rules it states:
“If a submission contains any material or elements that are not owned by you, and/or which are subject to the rights of any third parties, you are responsible for obtaining and represent that you have obtained, prior to submission of your entry, all releases and consents necessary to permit your submission and Sponsor’s subsequent use of your entry in accordance with the Official Rules. “

@Bryn-Atkinson i'm really serious about this contest and have some fabulous unpublished footage that I intend to submit. I have been tirelessly going through music tracks that would be suitable for my post, but only of artists that i know so i can get their permission to use their track for this contest. please let me know what's the best avenue for representing that I have obtained, prior to my submission, permission from the owner of the music track that I intend to use? (email/ instagram direct message/?)

Many thanks for this awesome contest and your willingness to clarify this important clause in the official rules. Cheers mate!
  • 1 0
Hey sorry mate, I only just saw this, too much screen time for me already.. I would just have to believe you I guess, and if you didn't have permission to use the music, then raw was the best move, or mix something up so its not an original track. Again, really sorry i just saw this now.
  • 4 0
So it means it's not for free, but you have to work for it?
  • 8 5
Dang, the orange fork thing is still a thing. Im going back to sleep, wake me when theyre gone plz.
  • 3 1
I'd be all over this if I had some skills on my bike or with a video camera. Smile Let me know when you run the raffle or random drawing for the same prize and I'm all over it!
  • 2 2
Love riding - check Have skills to make it look rad - uh sort of, in my head yes on film... not so much Have film crew at the ready - no Have skills to ride rad and selfie a video one handed - no Money to replace my phone from trying - no Stop teasing the average joe with a ride we'd love to win but can't. Lame. oh and maybe there's a large available if you win. also lame
  • 5 1
And the world continues to hate on the guy without a smartphone
  • 1 0
Yo pinkbike, i made an edit today. I really want this bike. If you like it DM Bryn and tell him to give it to me.

Cabling is so much neater when the brakes are bolted on the wrong ways around.
  • 2 0
I wonder how Bryn feels about waiting for the contest winner on the trail. Whoever wins isn't going to be able to keep up!
  • 1 1
Makes sense to me that it is a video contest; if you want Bryn Atkinson's bike you should be able to make a good video like Bryn. Some of the best self filmed edits are from Atkinson.
  • 2 0
Goodbye Norco Range, those criteria's in judging is all I lack.
  • 2 0
 That's a completely sick bike.
  • 2 0
 @brynatkinson
Really at age 18 Frown
  • 2 0
I only ride flats, so sorry i cannot accept this gift
  • 1 0
I don't have a MTB to be posting videos of, why can't I do it on my commuter?
  • 4 2
@Bryn-Atkinson the question is, will it include orange 36s?
  • 3 0
 You don't get meaning replica.
  • 2 12
flag darkmuncan (Aug 9, 2017 at 4:26) (Below Threshold)
It's a poorly worded article, the prize has no mention of 'replica'.

So no orange 36s

"The Winner will receive a “Bryn Atkinson Custom Build”
Norco Range C7.1 (size medium, or, subject to availability at the time of announcing the
Winner, size large). The build includes a curated mix of components from Bryn
Atkinson’s sponsors that he uses on his personal bikes, including Shimano XT brakes,
rotors, and drivetrain, XTR hubs, DX Pedals; Stans NoTubes Flow MK3 rims and tire
sealant; Fox Racing Shox fork, shock, and seatpost; Renthal bars, stem, and grips;
Maxxis tires; MRP chainguide; and Fabric saddle."

So basically left over parts from the team at the end of the season.
  • 18 0
Sure does. The bike pictured is the contest bike
  • 4 1
@darkmuncan: Leftover parts from a pro team? I'll take em!
  • 1 0
@Bryn-Atkinson: Is the pictured bike yours or the replica?
  • 3 0
@UserNumberTwo: The bike pictured is the contest bike
  • 2 0
 @darkmuncan: @darkmuncan: it has a mention:

Ever wanted to ride one of the pros bikes? How about Bryn's? Well, this is your chance, sort of. Rather than one or two rides, Bryn and his sponsors are giving you the opportunity to take home a replica of his bike, to own. Keep. Call your own and rally on your home trails—for good.

so in short, basically you get a NEW bike, with all the NEW parts that @Bryn-Atkinson uses on his racebike, you will get a new one, that will look like his bike (to perform like his bike, you'll need all the skills that Bryn has)
  • 1 0
@UserNumberTwo: new bike :v so replica, didn't you read?
  • 2 0
The contest is "open to anyone over the age of 18". Damit
  • 2 0
Don't worry, at some point you'll start aging faster. Give it 15-20 years though.
  • 3 1
orrrrrr you could just buy one!
  • 3 0
 What a cool contest.
  • 1 0
So spicy. Only thing missing is the Eagle XX and you'd have all the gold goodies.
  • 1 0
Omg could you imagine if you won this with your video!!! You got this @turco999
  • 2 0
 Does Police video footage count?
  • 2 0
Awesome prize, but requires far too much effort to win lol
  • 1 0
Good luck trying to keep up with Bryn!
  • 2 0
 18+ only? That sucks.
  • 1 0
One of the nicest bikes I've ever seen
