MvdP should be there as well. He needs some points for a good starting position at the Olympics, so he suspended his road season. He will then do the Tour de France as preparation for the Olympics. Crazy guy...

Only this year, because he wants to take part in the Olympics, I think after this year he will not be riding XC very much.

@cvoc: He's now also aiming for the Olympic MTB in 2024 in Paris as well as this year. He has said he'd prefer not to go to the Tour, but his team/sponsors want him there. He'll prepare for the Tour by riding his MTB....

And has been said before, he has more fun on the MTB than the road bike, which can be boring.....

@cvoc: I feel like the jury is out on this. He would have to win gold to be satisfied with his Olympic performance, I'd imagine. Anything else and he'll want to return. I also think he's said he wants to be a World Champion in XCO (as well as road, and obviously he already has multiple CX titles), so I imagine he won't be done with the MTB unless all of these things happen very soon.

If the italian series is any indication of how the world cup will go, Nino has his work cut out for him. As long as he stays consistent, though, he should be fine.

I wouldn’t read to deeply into that result, professionals know what ones are worth winning and when to peak.

Good stuff. Can't wait to get this party started. We've been racing here since January and I've been Jonesing for some pro racing action. With the Cape Epic pushed back until fall it's been a long wait. Thank the gods for the Italian Series.

No mention of Ulloa's win in short track, I guess they think it was just a fluke. Hopefully, he can get some good results and prove them wrong.

I was wondering over the years of XC alot of races its super muddy, would it be faster to have a slightly bigger stravel bike that climbs well will some super grippy tires or would that make a difference? i always see guys sliding down hills with there bikes and it seemed like a supper grippy tire would be faster on courses like that.

Man, I bet that ugly gesture from Pauline Ferrand-Prevot towards Evie Richards at the finish of the short track last year soured a lot of people on her... I know it did it for me. That was uncalled for and unwarranted. No class.
