What could be more obvious than doing a BMX edit in a country where the average person pedals more than 500km a year? Probably not a lot of things. In Denmark - a country that has ranked as the happiest in the world in for several years, biking is a way of life. Kyle took full advantage of the laid-back lifestyle and love of all things two-wheels to explore some of the wildest places in the Scandinavian country.
His three-week journey saw him travel to the likes of Copenhagen, Aarhus, Jutland, Løkken, Falster Island, Møn Island and Klampenborg and perform tricks like paragliding with his bike onto a beach, ride in an underwater aquarium with sharks and take his bike on rollercoasters, cliffs, boats and planes.— Red Bull
Someone at redbull: "we'll showcase all the kinds of transportation that Denmark has to offer. And we'll make a bmx guy force some awkward tricks in weird places as a segue between all the modes of travel!"
Pretty disappointed there was no hovercraft fufanu. Unfortunately for Denmark, I never visit countries that don't have hovercraft.
I really really really enjoy Kirss Kyle's riding and his edits. Very much so. But I have to say - having "sound design" in this video by putting in exaggerated sounds (that can't be real?) of when the bike lands on something...I really thought that was a terrible move. Or when he does a 3 off the roof, they added in a wooshing sound of his body spinning. I really think these made the video cheesey and kind of ruined it. Thoughts? Looks like redbull wants KK to be the danny mac of BMX.
Case in point - nobody...nobody...has ever made these sounds while riding a BMX youtu.be/ySGUPSpCFmo?t=98
I like to think that there's one really high ranking person at the redbull production team who's like the "more cowbell" person and everyone just hates him/her. Haaaa. More crunching sounds! More dust! Louder!
@ccolagio: but you believed that he entered the water and somehow magicked himself into the tunnel surrounded by sharks that has ramps in it for every day punters...
@betsie: that was cool video editing - a transition. thats fine. that is completely completely different than added fake dust INTO a shot and adding sound INTO a shot that weren't ever there. he DID jump into the water. and he DID ride that line in the tunnel. those are two completely different things. i enjoyed the editing overall - just not the silly additions they made to the sound design (and the dust)
@ccolagio: I remember being out at World Masters in 2007 and Mr March adding dust to a take off lip for a photo shoot, pretty sure the addition of "stuff" to the trail isnt that uncommon. As we dont have dust in Scotland I was still admiring the stuff, the closest we get to dust is sand being whipped up at the beach by a cold and strong wind!
@ccolagio: I didnt even consider that as dust really at the start its that bad, I thought he was on a BMX with a motor and that was the exhaust puffing away lol
I'm with you here, style and skills but way over edited and the second half of that rollercoaster segment so obviously fake! Seriously mashed that Audi too
Ok that was one of the weirdest BMX vids I’ve ever seen. KK’s riding is obviously incredible. But... everything else is so weird and distracting. The soundtrack??? Sounds like it was performed by 1980’s synth programmers who were frozen and revived ala Austin Powers style. Then given a dose of acid and turned loose in a current digital studio. The sound effects are so overdone that it’s almost a parody of itself. And then... there’s the ridiculous outfit. WTF?? I never ever notice clothing. But what the hell is up with the baggy T shirt, really tight shorts, and the white sneakers and white crew socks??? I’ve never ever seen anybody wearing an outfit like that let alone a street tough BMX rider. I gotta go watch a Revel Co. vid now. Just because.
Imagine getting Kriss, Danny, and Fabio to do a "three of a perfect pair" video. Give them Red Bull money and 6 months to come up with something big! Really Big! Those imaginations together would be something to see!
My main take away from this, and it's probably not the right take away, is that it reminds of that time when you're getting near to the end of the school year and you're mum refuses to buy you new PE kit so you have to make do with a mix of random hand me downs and stuff that you've outgrown.
I felt like this one was shot in a way to show off fancy vlog/travel transitions a lot more than the riding, I have a feeling a lot of good footage was cut out to make the transitions work, shame.
awesome rider but Redbull hasnt done him any justice in this edit. Too much time in after effects and adding in ridiculous sounds. IMO it didn't flow very nice either.... felt very disjointed and awkward.
Perhaps I’m the only one that enjoyed it? Yeah it was a bit cheesy but I can only imagine the look on the Safety officials face when they told him that they where riding on a roller coaster!
Producer: "kriss this edit is probably going to show up on Pinkbike... So make sure you do simple tricks and make it super lame, their audience will eat it up... Oh, any chance you can backflip A LOT... "
I was trying to come up with something original and negative to say about this awesome video, but you pinkbikers pretty much covered the gamut of shit things to say.
Honestly I think Red Bull itself is a rubbish drink, but their videos never fail to impress. Hopefully they keep on with this style of film making and production value.

Wow. I didn't even catch this first time through. This is awful!
Star-wars is real
Star-trek is fake
Everyone knows this.
