Clips from my 2019 year on Instagram! Looking forward to 2020, turning 46, acting a fool and shredding everything in my path!! Thanks to all my filmers, Djambor, Fox digital media, Caleb Ely, Matt Collins Metis Creative and Russ Risdon.
@Voreis: You had an editorial article in MBA a loooong time ago that has always stuck with me, you shared how you became a professional cyclist by putting yourself entirely into your passion for riding. Work hard and play harder, that was the tagline! Thanks!
@wasea04: I don't have many other hobbies or passions that I devote my time to, with the exception of art. I'm constantly thinking and daydreaming of how I can have more fun on my bike and what dumb stuff I can film.
@Voreis: I guess we all thank you for the stoke! You also have great tips in comments on insta! I may not ever buy a Niner, but I think you keep them on the map. You nutter! (In the best of ways!)
@WAKIdesigns: May never sounds like I got a chance! Haha, all good, at least I can entertain you and give some tips, that make my job worth every tumble I take!!
@fabwizard: Would rule! My guess is he’d give anyone a run for their money. One of the best to ever do it and arguably the most entertaining rider in the game. Barelli’s up there too. I thought he would have slowed down by now but seems to be the opposite. Dude’s never been more relevant. Im drunk.
@WAKIdesigns: having a tight grip with just bind you up and wont let the bike float a bit. Its almost impossible to crack a big table when when your finger is on the brake, let those grips twist in your hands and bike with get inverted! Stoked you got the tip!
@fabwizard: c'mon, Yoann is a character, but he doesn't put it down like Kirt. Yoann is out cleaning hiways while Kirt is riding his bike on a skateboard on a snowboard into a lake! (No disrespect to Yoann - they're just doing vastly different things - and no, I don't think riding a roadbike offroad is comparable).....
So amazing. One of a kind. I hope @Voreis recognizes his amazing influence and how appreciative the community is of his contributions. Thanks for another rad year of letting us watch you put your body through hell as you defy expectations of what is possible on a bike or with the mind. If you don't follow Kirt's IG and Youtube you are missing out.
Dang, those were some amazing clips. Some serious neck compression at 0:46 seconds, though. I'm only a bit younger, but I can't imagine the recovery time on some of these bails! You're a madman Kirt!
I make sure to stretch a lot and do yoga to keep limber! My neck was a bit sore after that but my teeth took a lot of the impact, cracked a few for the dentist to fix!
@Voreis: your social media stuff is inspiring, as a soon to be 40-something big kid, who has little kids and no time, who just wants to play on his dirt bike and mountain bike. Currently recovering from a non-riding injury makes things even worse...now on the couch looking around for 2-wheel sports-related stretching and training guidance because I no longer can just walk out he door and huck it. Yoga is for sure on my list. What about other off-the-bike training focused on "longevity in the sport" as opposed to pure strength or endurance? I just wanna have endless fun like you, outside of my day job ;-)
@dirt-klaud: I do some pilates and a little bit of strength training. I definitely don't want to bulk up because I need to be able to fold up, so I limit any weight gain. I have a big yard so I find doing yard work and other activities that force you to bend and twist in different directions helps. Hope you heal up quick and get back to shredding soon!
Growing up I used to think 50 was life over, moving to whistler a few years ago changed that perception. At 33 and hanging out with 50+ year olds killing it skiing and riding in the park, I have a lot of good years left in me. Kirt makes most 20 something year olds look old and frail!
YES... bikes are fun if you know how to ride them right... or wrong. Well done and keep on playing!
Remind me to never buy a used bike from you though HA!
By far my favorite follow on instagram,i hope to meet him someday when I’m exploring around Bend or he can come over to the valley and I'll bbq some food and he can kick my ass on some trails around Oakridge or Alsea
you guys are both crazy grown up guys
Kirt’s zest for riding and life is infectious!
Keep inspiring us !
Thanks
Stylish riding and proper original humor!
Keep it up and greetings from another fellow forty plusser! ????????
Is it possible to be better at riding than this guy? Thanks Kurt.
