To all you guys who downplay the speed and skill in Enduro, realize this is what we're up against: Full-on national level DH speed for 10+ minutes on trails we've barely seen, followed by doing it again on the next stage. Build enough fitness so the pedaling doesn't bother you and you'll love the format. P.S. Did he drop first cuz he got a flat or something in qualifying?
I believe also that enduro is down played at times and that it Does require technical prowess and Mad endurance, but it is not "full on national level DH speed" down full on DH tracks, in general.....This is my opinion and I don't mean any offense..but if an enduro stage is on a real DH track, most enduro riders, with this winner very much excluded with a hand full of others, are certainly not going "full on national level DH speed" down them. With this race and some others as an exception, downhillers (And I'm not talking about the bike of choice, more so the discipline) will almost always be faster going downhill than an "enduro" or all mtn rider...that's what they're specialized in...phat props to this winner though.
lelandjt . I totally agree with you i entered a Enduro race last month on a DH bike ! man was a crazy ride . i gained so much more understanding of the Enduro scene . they are tough son's of bitches
I thought the Pinnacle race turned out better then the course preview made it look. i know new ideas scare the MTB/ pink bike community, but with a little work i think that format would be pretty cool. maybe the WC could even add a round or 2 like that in there season, just to mix it up.
He'll yeah. And I realized why I like dual slalom so much more than 4x. In Dual, the two racers are both slamming the corners at full speed, riding as fast as they can. 4x is a lot more about 1 guy hitting the dialed line and the others having to deal with what they get. It's still takes skill no doubt, and can make for a good race, but two guys wheel to wheel slamming berms at 100% is sooo much more fun to watch!
But damn, how are we meant to slag off Lefty's now?
P.S. Did he drop first cuz he got a flat or something in qualifying?
Congrats to Marco for killin it on the lefty
Im more stoked he won it on an all mountain/enduro bike!
