"Its just like home but flat!"

LOL

@JesseMelamed:Try riding the EWS-E trails over at the golfie before you head home... they are not flat! No idea why they put the eBikes down all the steep stuff, thought it would be the other way round.
Great result though, well done.

Wicked to see the big dawgs ride the trails I’m lucky enough to ride most weekends
What’s great about some of these trails is even when it’s wet it still has super grip!!
So blessed to have these trails to ride Awrabest Jesse

Those are the best kind of trails!

I think our definition of “super grip” is very different. Lol

Hahaha compared to some of the bogfest trails we have to ride over winter the tweed valley is grippy as hell @RBoardman234s:

So tight and Jesse is just pinning it. Never ceases to impress.

Making use of my small stature finally!

That long off camber section through the woods at 4:45 looks terrifying, can't imagine hitting that in the wet at any speed, let alone EWS race speed!

And what you can't see(rather can see thanks to the GoPro) is how dark it is there! So you can't even see the roots that might catch you out haha, it's fun.

 @JesseMelamed:
I was there a couple of weekends back (when it was more sunny) and it felt like instant darkness into the woods so I can only imagine how it is when it's overcast! The GoPro does an amazing job in low light.

@JesseMelamed: sounds like some proper jank, good luck out there tomorrow!

@DC1988: I need that computer vision!

@JesseMelamed: There’s a trick you can do where you close one eye on the lead up to those sections. It’s by no means perfect but can help

Saw you guys doing the Adrenaline uplift the week before. Conditions were prime then. We rode some of the stages at the Golfie the day after too which was a long day, but the trails there are amazing. It was my first time there and I'm not sure I'd fancy riding in those conditions! Good luck in the main race, I'm sure you'll do well as usual! We'll be back next year.

It's more tough in the wet but really fun trying to keep the speed up!

Faster than I have ever ridden there in the gloop on your first sighting run too.

Need to see the specific rules EWS gave riders regarding Riches DQ.

There's a diagram with an arrow through flag poles in the rule book. And we were told by the event organizers this morning confirming that because I had wondered as well if we just, technically, had to stay within the tape. Super bummed for Richie, not how any of us want to see this big finale play out.

Check the rule book on the EWS site. They even have pictures about the use of gates. It is very clear.

@MysticMCyclist: I don't really know what happened, but a section in the rulebook says also "The Commissaire or Race Director may choose, in exceptional circumstances, to apply a time penalty instead of a DSQ to a rider found to have cut the course without intention. However, any rider leaving the obvious line must be aware that they risk a DSQ."

So Enduro racing is different than Downhill racing? (I think in downhill you are allowed to cross the tape but you must re enter the track behind the last pole you missed)
  • 7 0
@teoleoni: He did not go back and re-enter so same as DH . It was obvious that it was a planned line, I was standing by the second gate he cut.

 Lukasik got the same penalty.

@MysticMCyclist: to be fair it's traditional there, dates back to the brass monkey days. Just ask Stu Thompson!

 They are!
  • 1 0
To me they don’t look as fun as other places on the EWS calendar, eg Whistler, Zermat, Finale etc
  • 1 0
@jeremyk: oh they are in my opinion and they are only 5 hours drive rather than 24 hours

 Good luck today Jesse
