Who did Intense pick up to replace Jack? They must kick themselves every single time they see Jack on a bike. So much speed, so much skill. A great ambassador for Canyon and the sport in general. f*ck yeah Jack!
@LuccsPB: return on investment for intense to go from the well liked team they had years ago to the current intense team. which at a reasonable guess would be more expensive. must really hurt. Don’t think people are inspired by the results or image the current team has to buy their bikes.
The Moir, Lucas and Harrison IFR squad was my favorite team in racing history. So good together, always had a great attitude at the races, and were getting great results. Was really bummed when IFR got dismembered to pay for Gwin and entourage. Gwin is a stellar but seems to just want to do his thing and not really the team thing... so felt bad for Jack the season after the team got spliced. Must have been brutal to go from the work-hard/play hard party bus to riding sidecar on the Gwin show.
This Edit was fantastic. Jack is one of my favorite riders to watch. So clean and loose at the same time. Seems so calculated at those speeds and his bike control looks effortless. The man just rides the wave. More Jack!
@snl1200: Absolutely. I got to ride with them when they were in SoCal as team. They were like a pack of wild cats or something, wolves maybe. They had so much energy and just seemed to vibe off each other. You could sort of feel that energy riding with them AND they were just super friendly and down to earth. Superb team dynamics. Oh! And their intro video with the whole murder van abduction scenario was awesome. It was like a Toy Machine or Birdhouse video, just raw and kind of ahead of the game in terms of style. What a mis disbanding that team OR maybe Intense simply could afford them all (yes, I know Gwin costs as much as Steve Austin…and I don’t mean Stone Cold).
Maaaate you need to slow down, no respect for the trail or your bike , you going to hurt yourself if you carry on like that... said no one ever after watching this !!!! **** lml lml ***
These are all my local trails, one of which I have been riding for 30 years. In my mind this is how I look on my bike. Now I am just depressed at how slow i am
Rad. Metal Monday is the best riding since George Brannigan's Ace of Spades shreddit while he was on Trek, which was the best one since Earthed 3
Needs one of these to Blizzards, Buzzards, Bastards
More like mental mondays with that soundtrack
I just picture that guy in the throat lozenges commercial on the hill with the bugle singing
Riiii Coolaaa
I mean how do they sing so hard ,for so long and not have a sore throat is beyond me
By gosh Jack sure does haul ass though
To be fair, the only scenes where he's going uphill show him pushing the bike rather than pedalling it. Mind you, that's probably only because pedalling bikes uphill isn't cool to show in videos - my own personal experience is that the Strive pedals uphill perfectly well.
He's 46. That's Iron Maiden, Anthrax, Black Sabbath, Dio. Maybe newer bands like Pantera, Sepultura, Korn, Nine Inch Nails etc. Then there's the hair bands like Motley Crüe, Def Leppard etc.
In addition to be relevant to my interests, the soundtrack is also a refreshing departure from the god awful rap music that seems to have infected MTB videos.
To be fair, metal isn't everyone's cup of tea, but muting aggressive music is something you should never admit to in public. I'm older than him but when I was a kid, metal was the enemy of punk because it was the domain of mindless, knuckle-dragging heshers. Then Thrash, Speed, Death, Black, Grind, Doom and Sludge Metal obliterated that.

It make sense for DH bikes... but don't be shy to show up your climbing skills
