@dobermon: Let the record officially show that @dobermon is not a fan of Cathro. Hopefully from this point on we can accept that we all dig different things and that's okay- and maybe not comment on all the Cathro videos you choose to watch with how you dislike his analysis, volume of talking, and person in general. I for one love them, find them helpful, and appreciate that they are being made. Thanks again Ben for the thoughtfulness and curiosity.
@snl1200: With a profile quote of "better rider than you", do you expect him to be a reasonable and respectful human (like, the kind you'd want to ride/chat with)?
@mammal: Yeah the less than pleasant cyber-demeanor is a real bummer given the wealth of skills and expertise they could no doubt grace us with- I mean seeing as how they are better than us and all. But for real @dobermon - no ill will- just wanted to counter the negative points as we, and I think a lot of people, have different views on them- hope you have a great day and get some riding in.
@mammal: I was enjoying hearing about his mountain exploits. I guess the thought of having your own private mountain is too much for most people to handle. Something tells me he is out there hucking right now.
@mammal: I actually have known him for about 15 years, he originally from Brooklyn. Moved out to the mountains about a year ago and scored this sick spot. Have seen some pictures but will be going out to see him in august. Honestly he put in tons of work already and barely scratched the surface. Spot is insanely massive, I have to get in a car and drive hours for what he has out the back door lol. Pretty sure he out there getting dirty right now.
@jorgeposada: Huh, fair enough man! Based on his profile (joined this year, 10 years old, from some random country, claims to be a better rider than everyone), I assumed he was full of it. Have fun riding his zone.
@jorgeposada welcome to Pinkbike man! Noticing you joined right about the moment @dobermon disappeared. Fascinating. If you do bump into him wish him well in his amazing zone. Enjoy.
@snl1200: Wow hahahhaha! Honestly why hate on real mountain builders. Personally I'm jealous he has steep rippage out the back door while I sit in traffic. Will give you a report if we get this trip together in august. Spoke with him tonight and no pinkbike anything was mentioned at all.
@jorgeposada: Ha, "real mountain bikers"... As opposed to all the fake ones running around here. Anybody in this sport who thinks their better than everyone can go hang out by themselves and ride solo.
@jorgeposada: Yep, super jealous about supposed riders on PB... Been mountain biking for 20 years, I dig trails, ride other people's trails, and also have the pleasure of periodically riding Whistler and other Sea-to-Sky gems. But hey, this is no d*ck waving contest, I got nothing to prove. Hence my comment about "gasman" claiming his riding superiority. Social media douches can get bent, along with those who invent temporary alias' amidst their delusions of grandeur.
@jorgeposada: Well, I've only got one profile on PB (since 2002), and never made an alternate. I don't ever claim to be better than everyone, so not sure where you're getting that "describing yourself" comment. Like snl was saying, you and dobermon are the same dude, judging by the ban time vs. your new account, and I'm just calling BS when I see it. Welcome to Pinkbike "jorge".
Gwin is a class act. To be that good at something and have the humility that he does to do and interview after what was probably a super disappointing weekend for him is just another example of it.
Great content yet again from Cathro. Gwin is a real class act, glad he walked away from that one. Walking away from that crash is a testament to the physical training Gwin puts in, makes me want to go do more strength and flexibility.
If it happened like ben diagnosed, it was a driver error.
Plain and simple.
maybe aaron took this line on the edge of the board walk on every run before. But this time he was pushed by the wind outwards while mentally already focussed on the corner.
yeah i was surprised how much he was smiling in this video. wonder if its just him being a good sport or if Cathro is just that nice of a dude that he disarms people who are in a sour mood?
In the pre season video, they were in the gym and Gwinner was teaching Jack about if you get too close to the bar then your arms fold and you go over. In this case, he was just proving his point.
@Mattysville: I think some pros say to not wear ear plugs/headphones because it takes one of your senses away. Some believe flow and balance is better achieved with full sensory ability.
He explained it in more detail on Wynn TV - because it's extra windy at Fort William, and because of his injury - he wanted to focus his attention and try remove any outside noises
i used to wear them at whiteface mtn and some other mountains. it was more for protection since i work in audio (im a sound editor on Bob's Burgers, and mix records).
its actually pretty calming to ride with ear plugs.
I am just happy that Ratboy wasn't doing this commentary, would've sounded like some stoned bugger chewing rocks while talking with a British accent. Would have been comical but totally incoherent.... Well, now I am thinking, it might just have been entertaining? Then follow up with this vid by Ben
@cgreaseman: Well the bridge was based on an old design, that they updated but never told anyone about. So the bridge was never replaced with the updated one. That's why he crashed.

Whether he is great or not and regardless of all the misfortune he may have (stolen bike, broken equipment etc), the lack of great results may make it harder for him to negotiate a top salary from his teams. There are so many amazing riders out there fighting for that top spot, he really needs to get results head and shoulders above that what other athletes achieving to also demand a salary that is that much higher. Of course I know he can do great when it all clicks (or even when it doesn't) so provided that Intense bike is half decent I expect some good results from him this season. But as it is now, there are some good and eager racers coming up the ranks who are probably more interesting for potential sponsors and teams.
@savmeister: Scrolling through the main page and you see "how did Aaron Gwin crash in fort Williams", that's kind of a dead give away that he didn't win. That in turn ruins the excitement when you know he is up next.
Exactly. Doing push-ups is like wearing a helmet for mountain bikers.

(Yes, I stole this comment from a youtube comment)
@bencathro if you want to use it fill your boots.

and the track builder is going to make a public apology to #TEAMGWIN.
Could just have no chicken wire and we could see these cartwheels a lot more often.
