Best vid ever!! I love how it fails before it begins. Truly Friday fail worthy.
  • 9 0
That fail is indeed spectacular. Congrats to pinkbike for that one.
  • 1 0
 Agreed!!

Anyone see the grenade at 23 seconds? If you zoom in real close...
  • 26 0
 I loved this part! [IFRAME aspectRatio=16:9 src="src=“https://www.youtube.com/embed/_gqDTb5taOE” "]
  • 9 1
looks like we put the src in the src so that we could src while we src
  • 2 1
 dey screwed da link up
  • 2 3
@Albatrosse: who was the src of putting the src in the src so that we could src while we src?
  • 24 0
 OMG, dude broke the tree!
  • 4 1
One during an enduro race I got a little off and thought I was going to die but luckily the tree was dead and I just ran it over

If you fail at posting Friday Fails, does that mean you succeeded?
  • 17 0
 Saturday Success.
  • 4 0
@brianpark: Is there enough "close calls" content to have a 'Saturday Success' series? ..or maybe it's already being done...I can't keep up with all the content as it is...as I don't have an electronic device surgically attached to my left nut sending notifications to my right Smile

A friend of mine that is MD and doing his specialty internship on traumatology is exploring Friday fails videos to work on his final work assignment on sport-injury evolution. She knows that I am mountain biker and the idea came the other day after we were looking at some of the videos just or fun. I think that is cool! She was very shocked at some of the crashes and as a traumatologist, she said that there must be A LOT of badly broken bones, ligaments, and joints in here. Not really something that we all didn't know already. Savage!

2:41 is the answer to everyone who says standover doesn't matter!
  • 2 0
I really love that save!! Smile

The timing of letting go of the handlebar is often so terrible in these videos.
Many let go way too early, only to receive the full impact of the handlebar in their chest.
Others are still holding on to the bars, after finishing a faceplant.

Why???
  • 5 0
Nobody every taught them to ditch, I guess.
  • 13 1
A lot of these people should take up a hobby that requires less coordination. (And a lot of the camera people should give the camera to someone else lol)
  • 11 0
@maxwellington: where do you go for crash lessons ?
  • 3 0
I'm definitely in the latter camp. I usually think I'm gonna pull it out until about 5 after I've hot the ground and I'm staring at my wheels spinning in the air above me. Funny thing is, I do pull it out more often than not, and definitely more than the folks letting go of the bars before they crash, making a crash inevitable.
  • 12 0
 @Matt115lamb: the ground, usually.
  • 25 0
 @Matt115lamb:They are called crash courses.
  • 2 0
@IntoTheEverflow: have a gold star for that one.
  • 20 0
@pcmxa: we don’t need to know how often you pull it out
  • 7 1
@Matt115lamb: you learn how to crash through years of riding, especially if you ride BMX. It's a very useful skill, but unless you started riding at an early age (10-15) you probably missed your opportunity to learn it.
  • 4 0
:50 was a tuck no hander he just didn’t have the air time
  • 8 0
@pcmxa: never pull out late dude
  • 1 0
@Matt115lamb: bike movies and watching dudes who are better than you...plus what the other dudes said. The ground.
  • 4 0
@tobiusmaximum: if they give up biking we won't be able to laugh at them. My Friday's would then have a void where it was filled with laughs and cringing in vicarious pain.
  • 1 0
@Matt115lamb: roll it out. try not to catch your self. Go to a park and practice tumbling, parkour style. I've been lucky enough to jump off mid endo and run it out! Those fork pogo catapults are hard to eject from though.
  • 1 0
@RimCyclery: I can do a double roly poly tup
  • 1 1
@BobbyHillbomb: just need to be fit and you’ll be fine.
  • 1 0
Mainly what I see is people not using their upper body to stay on the bike. Just folding in and crashing. Sad.
  • 1 0
@radrider: obviously some injuries are unavoidable but a fit adult is still a lot stronger than a kid even if they don’t heal as fast.
  • 1 0
 @bulletbassman: the bigger they are..
  • 12 2
Every kid....should start out BMX if not to win, but just get the basics of bike handling down. The lack of even basic jump or dropping off a ledge skills in some of these videos is embarrassing. Big Grin

watched the first fail 5 times over already and haven't even begun the rest of the video and already thought it was worth commenting how great it was.
  • 1 1
I liked how chill his mate was.

Mom filming: camera drops/screaming
Mate filming: camera rolls/“ouch, that hurt”

Nose Heavy Friday? What the heck happened to the guy at :22???
  • 2 0
No kidding almost all those were just OTB nose dives. Some I could see others were just like the hell did you do?
  • 1 0
I can't figure it out either. Maybe he caught a pedal or something? I slowed it down and still couldn't tell what happened.
  • 6 0
Land mine. Only explanation I can come up with for the guy @ 0:22.
  • 1 0
Looks like something about the shape of the trail there; I think the resolution and lighting are hiding it from us. His weight shifts forwards and his fork dives and bottoms out while veering right; I imagine he rode straight into the side of a little left-hand berm or something.
  • 1 0
Fork compressed turned and probably on the brakes. Actually a really common close call for experienced riders pushing it but disastrous for the noobies
  • 1 0
Looked to me like it was initiated by his left hand slipping off the bars first
  • 7 0
50 seconds in-kid should listen to 38 Special. Hold on loosely, but don't let go.
  • 6 0
Holy hell...that was one of the most cringe worthy, painful compilations to watch so far.
  • 2 0
I think it was all the awful snapping noises.

 Dude @ 1:32 probably got brain-eating amoeba.
  • 1 0
Ya, I figured his brain was eaten to decide it is a good idea to ride a bike into something that deep.
  • 2 0
Seriously- what was the desired outcome riding into that mud hole?
  • 3 0
@speed10: whaddya mean? It's called bike diving. It's a new UCI sport.
  • 9 0
@rrolly: you need a bike that puddles well
  • 1 0
@speed10: Haha. That made me think of Michael Scott driving into the lake, following his gps directions!
  • 2 0
@speed10: @speed10: I guess he tried to do it like Danny MacAskill Big Grin
  • 1 0
@VorsprungSuspension: Could we get a "Tuesday Tune"/"Friday Fails" crossover, please? Would love to hear your analysis on the relationship between suspension setup and some of this carnage.

I love how, even if you don't speak the same language as the camera person, you know exactly what they're saying.
  • 2 0
I used to spend hours sessioning that trail at 0:12 on my 2008 Big Hit FSR II. Good times.
  • 2 0
Badabadabada....no madre is right! Whyd did that guy at .56 let go of the bars?
  • 2 0
Honestly - what language was that? It sounded a bit like Fred Flintstone... ya ba dab a doooo!!!
  • 1 0
2:40 is definitely somewhere we've all been hahah maybe not on exactly the same feature, but in an awkward downhill standing feet off bucking bronco thing haha

Wheel slide to push bike was one of the best i’ve Seen on a while. Wish people would stop sending in dumb otbs. This one was particularly filled with boring crashes from guys who didn’t realize you shouldn’t land on the front wheel with your weight forward.

That was me, my bell broke off and is still up there...
