TranzX Enters North American Market With $99 Dropper Post

PRESS RELEASE: TranzX North America

We are excited to announce that TranzX, one of the largest original equipment manufacturers in the world, has entered the direct to consumer market now offering a line of affordable dropper posts starting as low as $99.

For more than 25 years we have been designing and manufacturing bicycle components focusing on practicality and quality. A recent partnership with Dialed Distribution makes TranzX technologies immediately available to customers in the US, Canada, and Mexico for the first time. TranzX North America is also providing warranty support and service support to customers as well as IBD’s for both aftermarket and OE products. At this time the support is limited to dropper posts and levers but may extend to additional products in the future.

In North America we are offering five new dropper posts and levers with compatibility for both MTB, Gravel and Commuter bikes. The flagship value product, the Skyline internally routed dropper post, is available for $99.00 USD.

We are proud of the legacy and partnerships that we’ve built as an OEM provider, and we look forward to building additional relationships directly with our customers. We are excited to now offer our products directly to customers at affordable prices.

The Kitsuma 1x, 2x and Hot Lap Lever kit are all available separately. Lever kit's are compatible across all the TranzX posts.

The Skyline features all the bells and whistles found on modern posts, including a sealed hydraulic cartridge, 125mm drop, 6061 aluminum alloy construction, and a 2-year warranty. More refined posts like the Kitsuma Air internally routed dropper post are also available for purchase. The Kitsuma Air has a lighter 7075 aluminum body, upgraded cartridge with rebound adjustment, upgraded bushings and the same two-year warranty for $159.00 USD.

 Makes sense, Dialed Distribution are the same people as PNW Components who just rebrand their products from TranzX already.

 Most of these droppers are sourced from the same factory but PNW have nothing to do with Dialed Distribution as far as I'm aware.

 Spec logic has never been about part costs. It's about managing perceived value of the different builds.

 I mean you can still spec straight post for even less than just the dropper lever. But in that around $1500 market it'd be awesome for more entry, but not cheap bikes for them to have them.

 Cost pressure this will put on other dropper companies will benefit consumers. Wintek has different grades of cartridges so keep in mind not all is equal. That said, post makers will need to find new ways to differentiate like adjustable drop, etc. i hope someone makes a high quality lever at lower cost, $69 for a loam lever or $50 for an e13 vario lever is ridiculous, it’s a shrunk down cable brake lever for all practical purpose and should be $30 at best

 @rideonjon: I have 2 of these and when I went to the "Buy it Again" section on Amazon the page was a straight up 404, not even out of stock or anything. Forces at play not wanting fairly priced hunks of aluminum out there!

 Yeah true, although I just tried the e13 Vario lever and the adjustable reach and return spring are pretty sweet. Maybe not $50 sweet but I'm happy!

 The higher end Kitsuma dropper is available in 150mm, 170mm, 200mm drops. Had to go their website to verify.

 That's worth $60 alone. I can't go back to 125mm drop. Even my 5'5" wife is running a 175mm drop on her bike now.

 @downcountry, TransX / JD Components are suppliers to multiple companies. In some instances, those companies just stick their name on an existing product and call it good, while in other instances they'll work with TransX to create their own designs.

 @huvudvind: This is a common misconception. JD Components LTD (TranzX Taiwan) is the supplier to dozens of aftermarket brands and is actually the largest supplier of dropper posts in the world. Each brand is responsible for their own product development, warranty and service.

 @rminnion: Good question. Not sure if you ever had this answered, but I'm quite certain each brand has a contract to make these posts in the same factory - as is the case with most of PNW's other posts. Same designs/internals, but different externals/branding.

 @TranzX-North-America: Great value, but I had one that had a sloooow return and I couldn't adjust it to rebound faster. Will both the Skyline and Kitsuma Air have adjustable rebound and or capability to add air to increase psi? Thanks.

 @TranzX-North-America: How do we contact your North American customer service team? I’ve had multiple posts fail that were less than 3 months old and had to have them replaced by the bike manufacturer.

Bike shop says they think it will happen again and not to bother buying another even if they give a discount to disappointment.

 My dad just bought one of these posts. The installation was a breeze. The post functions beautifully with no problems to report in the last month. All this for under $100? These are going on all my bikes. I know there's a place for air springs and hydraulic actuation for droppers, but for anyone looking to spend a digestable amount of money for function, durability and quality, you can't go wrong with this one!

 My cheap hardtail came with one and it's been working great. Maybe not the most sophisticated thing around, but it works more than well enough for the purposes of that bike.

 I was really surprised when I saw that the base level Specialized Fuse came with one. Previously I had a Reverb and it doesn't work any better. It sags if you pull up on the seat. Droppers honestly don't need to be insanely complicated. They're basically office chairs.

 I have one of these and it has run perfectly for nearly 3 years. I haven't even changed the wire. The Price:Quality ratio is amazing.

 Have the TranzX post on a Norco bike. Lever is not great IMHO but the post works as expected. Not as smooth as Id like and it kind of thuds down, but it works just fine. I added a better lever and its as good as any mid range post.

 it would be nice for them to make a 27.2mm external routed version for folks on older bikes as well. maybe that's next.

 Found this on the site: Kitsuma Air 27.2, option for external routing, $129. I suppose this is the same dropper as my 110 PNW Pine?

A heads up if you weren't aware, PNW offers a trade-in program on their droppers. Should make them competitive with Trans-X in the long run. Glad to see these on the market.

 It would also be cool to see a lever actuated dropper that is somewhat specific to DH bikes. Anyone who has ridden Silver Mountain will get it.
