PRESS RELEASE: TranzX North America

We are excited to announce that TranzX, one of the largest original equipment manufacturers in the world, has entered the direct to consumer market now offering a line of affordable dropper posts starting as low as $99.

For more than 25 years we have been designing and manufacturing bicycle components focusing on practicality and quality. A recent partnership with Dialed Distribution makes TranzX technologies immediately available to customers in the US, Canada, and Mexico for the first time. TranzX North America is also providing warranty support and service support to customers as well as IBD’s for both aftermarket and OE products. At this time the support is limited to dropper posts and levers but may extend to additional products in the future.

In North America we are offering five new dropper posts and levers with compatibility for both MTB, Gravel and Commuter bikes. The flagship value product, the Skyline internally routed dropper post, is available for $99.00 USD.

We are proud of the legacy and partnerships that we’ve built as an OEM provider, and we look forward to building additional relationships directly with our customers. We are excited to now offer our products directly to customers at affordable prices.

TranzX Enters North American Market as Themselves This Time

I think dentists get a bad rap here. My dentist is great! His overhead is staggering. The equipment and staff needed to make all happen is nuts. But I personally have given his office about 10k this year for my family! @willdavidson9595:

 @willdavidson9595:

Explain this one please if ya don't mind?
Curious is all

Makes sense, Dialed Distribution are the same people as PNW Components who just rebrand their products from TranzX already.
  • 2 2
Most of these droppers are sourced from the same factory but PNW have nothing to do with Dialed Distribution as far as I'm aware.
  • 5 0
 @notthatfast: same people
  • 1 0
@dieramir: the posts are identical. i just swapped my PNW (too long for me) for this one and only the paint is different, and barely
  • 33 0
This should make it near impossible for bike companies to spec low-end builds without droppers.
  • 49 0
 Oh, they'll find a way
  • 9 0
Or will they feel more free than ever to spec rigid posts because you can just buy a dropper for $100? I hope not, but I can see their temptation to sneak bikes in at the magic $X999.99 pricepoints.
  • 32 0
We think you will be seeing a lot more droppers in the next 12 months.... Wink
  • 12 0
Spec logic has never been about part costs. It's about managing perceived value of the different builds.
  • 3 0
I mean you can still spec straight post for even less than just the dropper lever. But in that around $1500 market it'd be awesome for more entry, but not cheap bikes for them to have them.
  • 8 0
I’d rather have to buy a new post then get “stuck” with another reverb.
  • 1 0
@TranzX-North-America: Do you have any plans for a 34.9 dropper?
  • 33 7
 Fantastic.
Meanwhile RockShox is still trying to sell Reverb AXS for $800?
  • 50 0
but semenuk has an axs so he can do bar spins which means I need one
  • 6 0
Don’t think they’re having any trouble selling them. But I agree with you...this is great to see affordable and functional options.
  • 4 5
I bought one because I could... I'd do it again in a heart beat.
  • 9 3
I bought one and haven't been disappointed with it. Service is easy and install is great not having to muck around with peasant tier cables and housing
  • 3 0
When you've got an AXS drivetrain an AXS dropper is a logical purchase.
  • 3 1
RS had a good run selling a substandard dropper, good for them I guess. But that seems to be over now, good for us.
  • 2 0
Just because a cheap thing exists doesn't mean a more expensive version of that thing can't exist.
  • 18 1
Cost pressure this will put on other dropper companies will benefit consumers. Wintek has different grades of cartridges so keep in mind not all is equal. That said, post makers will need to find new ways to differentiate like adjustable drop, etc. i hope someone makes a high quality lever at lower cost, $69 for a loam lever or $50 for an e13 vario lever is ridiculous, it’s a shrunk down cable brake lever for all practical purpose and should be $30 at best

I have one installed on my sons bike with a fox transfer and it works great.
  • 2 1
@rideonjon: I have 2 of these and when I went to the "Buy it Again" section on Amazon the page was a straight up 404, not even out of stock or anything. Forces at play not wanting fairly priced hunks of aluminum out there!
  • 2 3
@coletrane-mtb: Just order it from ali.
  • 1 0
@coletrane-mtb: All the ZTTO stuff on amazon hasn't been in stock since COVID :/
  • 1 0
@rideonjon: I agree. I got a couple from fleabay a while back. Could be tricky on shipping these days, otherwise these are good bang for the buck.
  • 1 0
Yeah true, although I just tried the e13 Vario lever and the adjustable reach and return spring are pretty sweet. Maybe not $50 sweet but I'm happy!
  • 1 0
@NorCalNomad: i have a ztto dropper lever and its literally just as good as wolftooth plus it cost $23.00. l only use the wolftooth because i spent $70 on it so i better get some use out of it

@rideonjon: dont buy that chinese crap. Support a canadian company like raceface or an american company like wolftooth
  • 10 0
@ibishreddin: Ha. The Race Face Aeffect is a catalog TranzX post.
  • 5 1
@ibishreddin: Support a canadian company like raceface.......are you trolling me?

i have a wolftooth on my bike.
  • 4 1
Point is, support your local companies rather than outsourced cheap labor. wasnt aware that raceface posts were catalog posts...
  • 2 2
@ibishreddin: nearly everything we ride is made in China, even if it's branded RF, Wolftooth or whatever you want. You support China or Taiwan every time you buy something bike related....
  • 7 1
@thefoxisdead: blisteringly dumb comment. Wolftooth makes the vast majority of their stuff, including their dropper lever, in the USA. Also, Taiwan and China are very much not the same place. One is a first world democracy, the other has people in reeducation camps.
  • 1 0
Looks at the almost at the Paul Component dropper lever attached to a BrandX dropper. Zero regrets.
  • 3 1
@jmd07aa: sure, and all the parts are made in the States? Open your eyes, cycling related manufacturing is a chinese/taiwanese (and I know the difference between the 2 countries) specialty now, but you can believe the BS your orange man tells you...
  • 17 0
The higher end Kitsuma dropper is available in 150mm, 170mm, 200mm drops. Had to go their website to verify.
  • 11 0
That's worth $60 alone. I can't go back to 125mm drop. Even my 5'5" wife is running a 175mm drop on her bike now.
  • 4 0
 @SpeedMountain: 125mm? What is this, 2009?
  • 7 0
Dang, $99 is a steal. If it performs on a similar level to OneUp or PNW posts it will sell like crazy.
  • 32 0
Tranzx brandx and pnw are all the same post
  • 3 0
@huvudvind: That's news to me. In that case this dropper should be good to go!
  • 2 0
 @huvudvind: also salsa’s dropper
  • 1 1
Minus the quality standards and testing/design criteria? Curious how this all works...
  • 19 1
@downcountry, TransX / JD Components are suppliers to multiple companies. In some instances, those companies just stick their name on an existing product and call it good, while in other instances they'll work with TransX to create their own designs.
  • 19 2
@huvudvind: This is a common misconception. JD Components LTD (TranzX Taiwan) is the supplier to dozens of aftermarket brands and is actually the largest supplier of dropper posts in the world. Each brand is responsible for their own product development, warranty and service.
  • 10 0
@TranzX-North-America: What is the difference between the PNW Rainier V3, Salsa Travel adjust post and the TranzX YSI05?
  • 6 2
@TranzX-North-America: Thank you for bringing reliable and simple droppers to the masses!
  • 5 0
@TranzX-North-America: thanks for jumping in and teaching us about your brand in a non-defensive way. Watching comments through this launch and learning that odds are high that most of us are riding your posts under different brands is pretty cool
  • 1 0
@rminnion: Good question. Not sure if you ever had this answered, but I'm quite certain each brand has a contract to make these posts in the same factory - as is the case with most of PNW's other posts. Same designs/internals, but different externals/branding.

I just purchased a TranzX YSI05 secondhand and I'm loving it so far.
  • 4 0
@TranzX-North-America: Great value, but I had one that had a sloooow return and I couldn't adjust it to rebound faster. Will both the Skyline and Kitsuma Air have adjustable rebound and or capability to add air to increase psi? Thanks.
  • 7 0
Hey! Sorry to hear you ran into trouble with your post! The Skyline is not adjustable while the Kitsuma Air has an adjustable air cartridge. Ps if you still have the slow post hit our customer service team and we can help you out!
  • 3 0
@TranzX-North-America: How do we contact your North American customer service team? I’ve had multiple posts fail that were less than 3 months old and had to have them replaced by the bike manufacturer.
  • 2 0
@TranzX-North-America: I could help myself with some documentation. My post has been slow since a month in (now just over a year). I went to the TranzX page and couldn't find any info. My LBS just shrugged.
  • 2 0
@jt81031: Feel free to reach out via the contact us page and we can get you squared away ASAP!

na.tranzx.com/pages/contact
  • 3 0
@eh-steve: Sorry about that! We're working on getting the service manuals completed and uploaded. Feel free to reach out and we will be happy to walk you through the trouble shooting and repair process.
  • 2 0
@TranzX-North-America: I've had a couple of your posts on my Norco bikes, and they have been great. One was on a fat bike, and it's still going strong even at temps at -20F. Keep up the good work!
  • 1 0
@TranzX-North-America @jt81031: Same problem with new defective posts. Neither TransX nor D Components seem to have a head office, nor have they warrantied their defective product. Bike shop says they think it will happen again and not to bother buying another even if they give a discount to disappointment.
  • 3 0
My dad just bought one of these posts. The installation was a breeze. The post functions beautifully with no problems to report in the last month. All this for under $100? These are going on all my bikes. I know there's a place for air springs and hydraulic actuation for droppers, but for anyone looking to spend a digestable amount of money for function, durability and quality, you can't go wrong with this one!
  • 1 0
My cheap hardtail came with one and it's been working great. Maybe not the most sophisticated thing around, but it works more than well enough for the purposes of that bike.
  • 3 0
I was really surprised when I saw that the base level Specialized Fuse came with one. Previously I had a Reverb and it doesn't work any better. It sags if you pull up on the seat. Droppers honestly don't need to be insanely complicated. They're basically office chairs.
  • 1 0
@thesendist: Yes, I used to have a 9point8 that was quite expensive and less reliable than the TransX. It was a huge pain to work on too.
  • 5 0
I hope this product does well and forces other companies to add more value within their offerings.
  • 4 0
I have one of these and it has run perfectly for nearly 3 years. I haven't even changed the wire. The Price:Quality ratio is amazing.
  • 6 0
but how can this even function, it doesn't have kashima?
  • 1 0
Have the TranzX post on a Norco bike. Lever is not great IMHO but the post works as expected. Not as smooth as Id like and it kind of thuds down, but it works just fine. I added a better lever and its as good as any mid range post.
  • 3 0
Used one for a winter and it worked flawlessly. Very solid post and worth every cent.
  • 3 0
it would be nice for them to make a 27.2mm external routed version for folks on older bikes as well. maybe that's next.
  • 2 0
Found this on the site: Kitsuma Air 27.2, option for external routing, $129. I suppose this is the same dropper as my 110 PNW Pine?

A heads up if you weren't aware, PNW offers a trade-in program on their droppers. Should make them competitive with Trans-X in the long run. Glad to see these on the market.
  • 1 0
Make that plain old Kitsuma rather then Kitsuma Air. You'll find it.
  • 1 0
It would also be cool to see a lever actuated dropper that is somewhat specific to DH bikes. Anyone who has ridden Silver Mountain will get it.
  • 1 0
Under seat lever, that is as most DH bikes don’t have a routing option for a cable
  • 1 0
 @larryssman7: exactly like that! Thanks!!
  • 1 0
 @samdeatley:

Ya I just need them to make the jump dropper in 34.9 diameter and I'll be a happy camper .... Lots of park bikes and DH bikes are moving too 34.9 seatposts ....
  • 3 1
Same Wintech dropper as everybody else, but for less $$$. Looks like a winner to me.
  • 3 0
If you have a used dropper to sell, do it fast!
  • 2 0
My $2200 new bike, which came with an $1100 fork and a $99 seatpost, and I could be happier!
  • 2 0
And $1000 wheelset, with the rest thrown in for free (incl frame)?
  • 1 0
Using TransX dropper now for almost 2 years. Good thing they improve their lever. Converted my old SLX FD shifter in lieu of their lever.
  • 1 0
Awsome dropper! 2 years on mine and still going strong. Skip the other brands, save cash AND get a product that works flawlessly.
  • 2 0
If it goes up and down for more than a year I'm sold.
  • 5 0
I see you run Reverbs, you should try something different. This is the 4th year on my Transfer with one service last year.
  • 3 0
@rideonjon: I guess I’m the guy that keeps getting lucky with Reverbs. On my 3rd (all OEM on complete builds) and have yet to have a single problem. Well, other than they get slow as shit in the cold weather. I’ve probably just jinxed myself...
  • 3 0
@CircusMaximus: I rode in 10 degree weather and it got stuck in the up position while riding snow jumps.

I've had both TranzX and PNW (TranzX rebrand) and both have worked great, highly recommended.

Required on every hard tail. 125mm is perfecto for gravel, smaller frames and ebikes at traffic lights. There is a whole world of applications. Cash me outside dude.

Direct to consumer, direct from manufacturer. This just cut out 2 needless middle men! The industry needs more of this!

just ordered the Air with lever. $200 risk buy.

@marktuttl3: and it's the only dropper you'll ever need... not sure why people spend so much on droppers unless they want the "fancy" kashima coating or wireless..
  • 1 2
 @marktuttl3: Wheres the proof?

 hell yea!

 Simple, yet effective

Pretty cool until you need anything from them and you wait weeks for a reply that isn't in english.
  • 1 0
Had the exact opposite experience last week. Was contacted back within a day and In English. Had a couple emails go back and forth. Each was responded to within a day.

Wow another 125mm post. Id be stoked if it waa like 180+
  • 13 0
We offer travel all the way up to 200mm Smile

@TranzX-North-America: Wish you guys offered a 170mm or more 30.9 external routed post for an older bike that I REALLY don't want to put a hole into.
  • 5 0
@NorCalNomad: Your wish will come true... 30.9 x 170mm will start shipping early next month!
  • 1 0
@NorCalNomad: they have exactly that. 170, 30.9, external.
  • 1 0
 @snowfiend: link?
  • 2 0
@NorCalNomad: I've got the 3xact post you describe under the brand x name from chain reaction
