Monster Energy Presents, in association with Kona, SRAM, Giro, and Pinkbike... ASHES TO AGASSIZ The Fall and Rise of a Mountain Bike Superstar.
It’s been a journey, you could say. A real barnburner. A man at the top of his professional prowess, his mountain bike a natural extension of him, one of the best riders the sport has ever seen. But like all great heroes, adversity comes a knocking. For Graham Agassiz, a relatively benign descent—one he’s done a hundred times before—reached out with its wicked limb and smacked him down. Shoved a fat slice of humble pie in his kisser. With his neck broken and a career in jeopardy, the road back to the top is now lined with dangers and demons.
You see, in many ways, Aggy is just a kid. Born and bred in the frontier wildness of Kamloops, British Columbia, the prodigal talent is still subject to the distractions of a freeride superstar’s ever-present sideshow: the girls, the party, the chase. But now he stands at the crossroads of a most monumental order—quiet the indifference, dial in the focus. For Aggy, right now, on so many levels, it’s do or die. This is a story of his teetering on the edge between annihilation and exaltation. The line is thin in this game of dirt and dust and destruction. To ride, to truly ride, he needs to burn lust into oblivion. To do that, he must fight his way to the light.
But he’s not alone. A mystical, esoteric, fire-wielding farmer guides Aggy through an odd evolution, one that flips between dream and reality. He force-feeds our ill-tempted hero a spiritual expedition that descends straight into hell’s blaze. Will he survive? Will he grab hold of the greatness that fights to draw him back into the mountains? Or will he succumb to that lesser self, the one that can’t say no. The one that aims to beat him into a scourge of normalness.
Join us as we follow Aggy on this sacred quest, from the freeride mecca of Kamloops, BC to the fiery wilds of Iceland. From the distraught of injury, to the brilliance of epic shred.
A huge shout out to our star athlete, Graham Agassiz, who’s put everything into this project. Sherpas Cinema, whose dedication to storytelling is unsurpassed in action sports cinema. Monster Energy, who, without their support and perseverance this project would not have been possible. And our sponsorship partners, SRAM, Giro and Pinkbike, who saw the vision of this project long before there was anything to show.
Somewhere along this trailers journey...I realized I had stopped breathing. Our MTB Entertainment world is not only stepping it up a notch...it skipped the whole staircase! FUCK YEA!!!!!!!!!
That was a very enjoyable movie/ long edit. When I saw Sherpa Cinemas, I thought Aggy f*cked up because of how bad Into the Mind was but thankfully they did a great job like their first film, All I Can. It reminded me of a hilarious version of Life Cycles with some intense riding. I do wish they left out some of the bangers that you see in the trailer but it was still impressive to see. If you look closely, there are so many wild drifts he does on single track. The volcano/big mountain seggy was pretty friggen cool as well... and yes, boobies.
Thx...Amazon.ca doesn't seem to have it and the .com only plays to the USA. Google Play is a sign up fail aswell (I hate signing up for shit)...will check vimeo now, Thx
What a hassle when not conforming to the google/isuck BS. So vimeo isn't as invasive..signed up...but then the stupid popup box that I need to enter payment info into goes blank when I try to purchase...uhggg, 1st World problems. Awaiting cus. support now
vimeo-on-demand worked great.(finally)...HD, $6.60can...worth every cent!!! Was quite disturbing to see the full crash...and from multiple angles. Hits too close to home maybe being as that I actually ride that line a few times a yr...
^ the shot from the guy at the bottom really showed how quickly and at a scary angle he went down. I couldn't believe how fast he came to a stop... so happy he came out alright relatively speaking.
well, i liked revel better, it felt more complete and finished. although ashes to agassiz had quite a lot shots that deserve spot in mtb hall of fame and some very lazy shots, that came straight from vhs skate videos. the concept was nice, but overall it lacked something.
Man, I thought Ashes was a let down. I was SUPER excited, and while the movie had alot of style, I think it lacked riding. In the 19 minute video there was probably 7 minutes of riding total. The trail segments were sick, but I wanted to see some more big bike stuff.
I liked it because it was different, it wasn't just your average bike movie. The story behind it was badass and the firework scene was insane. Plus there were girls in it so that get a +1 for me.
Death Grip is such a wicked fun line...but us mere mortals just roll in normal(no idea what kinda speed we hit)...Beasts like Aggy probably got towed into it! haha
I love Aggy as a rider but this vid did not impress me that much. To many accessaries. Corny story line, bad acting, random naked girls immortalizing Aggy… I'm not 16 anymore. Shredding was good. More shredding!
So glad to see this comment in here. I felt the same way. The trailer is absolutely amazing, which gave me high hopes....but the actual film was very disappointing in my opinion. Trying way too hard on the symbolism and narrating. Aggy is an absolutely beast, but this film makes the MTB community look immature.
Oh my god, I can't believe this film hasn't received anything but praise. It's an artistic masterpiece bringing together living, riding, culture (sub-culture) and the wild & wonderful life of Graham Agassiz. Cinematic creativity with killer POV's, graphics and narrative. Not to mention the the sick lines, and the riding was cool to. I was super stoked and totally refreshed at the same time.
I agree with @neorider. It's a great mtb flick. It's fun and made me smile and expect I'll rewatch it many times. The storyline is intergral since it's his story after all... amplified for the sake of storytelling. The quality of the riding and filming are 10/10 IMHO
I saw a shot from the Iceland in the trailer, that was POD lot of months ago, then I noticed it's a Sherpas Cinema movie. This is a project I was looking for a long, long time. This is gonna be sick, no doubt. Sherpas cannot disappoints.
His segment in Follow Me, set to Black Mountain, is one of my favorite 2 minutes of mountain bike cinema. Didn't know he had a big digger/busted neck. He's on my short list of favorite riders and deserves to have a batshit crazy movie like this.
Trailer looked EPIC. Was super excited to to get to watch it. When he rides, he kills it!
Unfortunately he's only on his bike for half of it. There is some weird narration but its not really about him or his injury its just a load of bollocks. Sure there's some naked chicks but I paid to watch some insane biking, there are plenty of other internet sites where I can look at naked chicks for free. Some cool landscape shots too but again, I'm in it for the biking, if the film was an hour long sure, chuck in some landscape, chicks n fireworks, but 20mins isn't long enough for all the crap you have to watch to get 2mins worth of biking before some more crap!
There is some amazing riding in there but this film missed the mark. Its a real shame.
Watched the trailer... Instantly downloaded the film... Waited for it to ramp up... Credits??! Wtf Nothing from the Fest Series and nothing that to that scale to be honest!
Colours n scenes were amazing... The girls analogy didn't really work, riding was awesome but not a lot of it!
Drinking game idea: take a shot whenever Aggy is on a different colour Kona
Just watched the whole thing. Was really looking forward to it. I respect trying to get weird but that was a major let down. I watch MTB movies for MTB. Different strokes I guess.
I responded to someone else above, but I felt the same way. They tried way too hard to find some loose symbolism behind the sexualization or the woman / immortalization of aggy and it just ruined it. The narration was brutal.
Just watched it, best bits are in the trailer.
Too many slomo artsy shots, not enough of Aggy shredding.
Doesn't get the big bike out until the end and then although it's good it's a very short section.
Save your cash and watch some fest services footage on YouTube
@RLoganSx Pinkbike doesn't police/edit comments at all. The comments section is self moderated by us the users through the up/down voting system. That was insane! I saw half a boob and Graham eating it at 55 MPH on Death Grip. At least I think that's Death Grip.... did you guys see that massive hip air!? omg omg
Some proper slams there, blimey! You guys should see some of our soccer players when they get 'fouled', they roll round looking like they've been hit by a train. PATHETIC!! They should watch some DH/Freeride slams, as other people have posted BADASS. Awesome clip of one of the coolest riders out there.
I watched it the first time with no sound (im at work) and thought it was a little weird... But I decided to watch it again with my headphones on and.....well my brain is melted. This is the most off the wall yet badass trailer I've ever seen.
For me, this was truly the best trailer I have ever seen. Of course, It speaks to me in more ways than one, but it was all out perfect. I have been presented radness in its absolute best but in a tiny portion, which amps me up and gives me an immense appetite for more. Brilliant, now if I can just figure out how to buy it.
Wow, that was awesome. It's a rare trailer these days that actually gets some emotion from me but that was sick. With the Sherpas behind the lens you know this one is going to be mind blowing.
HAHA! No matter how many times I watch it that crash @ 1:00 makes me scream like a little girl.. A very high pitched "Ahh! NO!" instantly followed by me standing up looking for my phone as if I need to call someone for help...
Absolutely awful movie. I love Aggy but save your $5 and get a 6 pack and watch some free internet porn. I was hoping to actually see Aggy ride, which gives me chills, but sadly I saw next to none of that. I feel like I have been robbed.......was so pumped to see this movie and can't believe I'm saying this, but I think it's the worst MTB movie I've ever seen.
Just watched 20 mins of Aggy riding his bike through fire, surrounded by naked chicks all of which was very enjoyable! But there really is no story line of how he recovered from a broken neck. aghh who cares there's chicks and bikes and shredding and more chicks
I like it where the mtb cinematography is going...especially in this one...the traiker of Revel in the Chaos shows pure riding and sick transition cuts/scenes... It leads you right into the thought behind the scene... Love it!
Fvck all the awesome videos comin' out this year!!!! Better be available on Google &/or Amazon!!!!! That giant hip line & that massive 3 drop. How f*ckin' fast was he goin' @ 1:00?!!! Ô.Ô
Nothing against semenuk, but this is going to be 10 times better than revel in the chaos, agassiz is the king of freeride mountain biking and I can't wait to see him on a rampage podium
Yeah when you are so deeply plugged to your heart and soul as aggy shows on his unique style and charqcther you must atract femenine divine side without doubt, and it s part of the game.... Very well ilustrated... Actually its the first time i m proud how women as sexual role is shown in mtb film... Is not offending at all for them i gess...
Lol..its not offe.dkng be ause they get paid for it... no offense...but a mtb based sirens... damn
Insant mtb heartboner...
....no nvm...
Sex sales is what it always was..
some very nice images! but why are there explosions, fire and babes? is mountainbiking not exciting enough anymore? maybe too much esoteric stuff, just like all I can...
Only thing is... its nkt an answere...its an addition..
Only thing is...there is no answere...to Revel in the Chaos... Revel in the Chaos is already the answere...
Great trailer, great rider.
Don't bail. Don't bail. Don't bail.
Oh crap. He's bailing.
Aggy is a beast.
Freaking badass! Looks wicked!!

Looks real good! Super stoked!
Edit,
My bad, Link's in the article now....
PATHETIC!! They should watch some DH/Freeride slams, as other people have posted BADASS. Awesome clip of one of the coolest riders out there.
BAD ASS TRAILER!!!!
I hope Aggy kicks ass at the Rampage
It leads you right into the thought behind the scene...
Love it!
Vid looks soooo sick though. Can't wait. I f*@king love watching this dude ride.
Nice girls )))
Oh. My. God.
tem até umas gatinhas nuas
but why are there explosions, fire and babes? is mountainbiking not exciting enough anymore?
