Hey RedBull, how about you take all ticket sales and give it to the riders!!! Don't mind paying as long as the people who deserve it get it. Been going to Rampage since 03, I will not stop going but just disappointed when I found out the conditions the riders were given.

i went in 2011...just had to reserve a ticket online and take a printout with you. all free. its too bad they couldnt do the same this year but yes...if they are charging money then i hope it goes to the winning athletes...or towards the hospital bills of the unlucky few

Not that I will, but Due to the landscape, is it easy to sneak in? Just take one of the different tracks into the area and hike a bit?
  • 2 2
jdotr all spectators/visitors need tickets to be on the mountain so you can't just sneak up there without one, plus not to mention I doubt you'll be able to sneak in with the amount of people that will be on the mountain.

i just thought as its such a huge area haha. Dont worry im not trying to hatch a plan haha, if I had the money to travel over there id have the money to buy a ticket

due to the landscape it is not easy to sneak in........ Its not a rural area only a few entrances into the fenced property and they are there checking bands at the entrances etc.

Didn't they say they were going to find a new location?
I like last year's site, I just hope they don't keep building bigger and bigger stuff so nobody but Zink can trick it. Rampage is about huge lines, not huge single jumps!

 totally agree

RAMMMMMM-PAGGGGGGGE! Last year while waiting in line at the bike valet after the event, I decided on a whim to ask to help them out. Had so much fun running around shagging bikes while waiting for my group to get through the line. This I got a legit spot on the bike valet crew and I'm stoked to not only get to see the event again this year, but to be a part of it.

It sucks that there's a limited quantity. This limits the revenues for all, most notably the riders of course! Its not like the area gets too crowded. But as always, I'm sure its some bureaucrat and/or some insurance company that has some magical formula.
Maybe someone can provide an explanation. Cant wait to go back!

 Its the pussification of America.
  • 1 0
 probably crowd control
  • 1 0
Pretty much one of the most respectful crowds I've ever seen compared to other, similarly sized sporting events.
Sure, there's the occasional hiker on the line, but there's so many astute spectators happy to let em know real quick.

I didn't see one l.e.o(officer) out there last year, didn't notice any drunk idiots, and the site was pretty clean.
Now lets sell more tickets and increase the payouts!

Have you been to Rampage? The 1200(?) tickets they sale does a good job of filling the hillside up with people. Sure, you could physically fit maybe 3 times that many on the site, but it would drastically affect the function of the event. Getting that many people to move around the different lines safely and in a timely fashion would be a pain. Not to mention the fact that visibility is already pretty shit if you're not up front or in a prime zone.
  • 1 0
Yes last year. Crowd was pretty spread out. Fairly ez to move from one side to the other, as when the canyon jump would be in play. But may be we should ask the riders aye?
  • 1 0
Well the riders don't want people stomping their lines and lips thats for sure. 2 years ago there was some problems with people not moving off lines while rider was on course and their lips getting stepped on and landings getting messed up by everyone migrating back and forth. So the riders won't be on our side on this one lol.

I went to rampage in 2010 when it was free. All they provided was a bike valet. Where is the money going? Into the prize purse I hope.
  • 1 0
You have to go!! I have gone since 2012 and its awesome!! You ride the old rampage course on Friday and Saturday then go watch the finals Sunday at the new course. The party Saturday night is always kick ass!!!

Everyone keeps mentioning riders pay... no idea what you're on about so, enlighten me!
  • 5 0
@caistor-bmx, there was this article a while back about how Red Bull and the other sponsors make bank off Rampage and similar contests but the athletes are given next to nothing, when they are the ones risking their careers and even their lives. Basically the idea is that the riders in rampage should receive better pay along with some sort of medical insurance or compensation if they do crash. Some of the people who crashed hard at rampage were looking at $50k medical bills and Red Bull wouldn't pay a single penny, even though they are profiting off the athletes.
  • 4 0
$50k medical bills?! Oh of course, that side of the pond still hasn't got an NHS
  • 1 3
I drive a VW with a big VW badge on the front. Everywhere I go people see its a VW.

VW dont pay me to drive it, they sure as hell wouldnt pay my medical bills or insurance if I crashed it or got injured.

What I'm trying to say is, if the riders want to take the risk, why should Red Bull pay out?
  • 5 0
If you were racing your car for volkswagen in a sponsored event jumping your VW in a rally fashion where you could get hurt you might think they would help you out or have some coverage. Especially if the winning payouts are less than medical bills. I bet the medical bills for Rampage exceed the payouts to winners. Thats the point. Redbull is a huge company with tons of money and are getting this broadcast on NBC probably getting some good cash off commercials etc. I get what you are saying but your analogy sucks. Regular insurance won't cover these guys because there is a payout for winners so they have to carry pro athlete coverage which a lot do not... hopefully this year they will learn to do that.

I hate how people can charger tickets to go see 'natural terrain'. How do they get the right to charge people for crawling around in the baking sun on the side of a hill?
  • 2 0
Is it worth it if you can only make it for the first day on that Friday?
  • 3 0
nope, can I have your ticket? I promise I'll stay for the whole event
  • 1 0
Great, great. Can you make sure the right amount of it gets in the athletes hands? They're the ones taking the risks.
