  • 42 2
Super impressive! Way to go dude!
  • 15 3
So sick to see. Anyone remember that one-armed freerider from the Ultimate Freeride Challenge? He's like the freeride version of this dude sending 10ft. drops. How do you hammer that fast down trails? incredible.
  • 17 1
That was incredible! Never would have thought being one handed you could ride trails as gnarly as what he was on. Keeping riding hard dude tup
  • 27 7
 show off
  • 21 1
this is what you call "love riding"
  • 2 1
 @Scott;

I remember him well in the Race Face challenge. Because my buddy had to go up against him in the first round lost and my bud hucks some of the biggest stuff I know (and is stylish doing it!). The guy with one arm was awesome.
  • 5 1
@vodores Exactly. I can't say I wouldn't have thrown in the towel being in his situation. Dude is a badass.
  • 7 1
We should all give this man some stem cells for his dedication and perseverance to our sport.
  • 35 0
WTF, I can't even ride that well with two good arms.
  • 3 1
the ufc ripper was/is dustin bryant...............

www.pinkbike.com/photo/518400

i was super bummed the kid never got picked up by a major.

dudes like that have soooo much to give the industry and the next gen of riders , but somehow fall thru the cracks.
  • 1 1
Ahh thanks! Yeah even as just a freerider with two arms, he was still damned impressive compared to how the talent was then.
  • 12 1
This guy inspired me to ride a berm one handed today. Now my face hurts.
  • 3 1
But in all seriousness though, this is amazing.
  • 1 0
once here on pinkbike I was watching a video and saw there where a guy without legs below his knees is shredding DH course. i remember only that on his artificial limb he had a FOX logo (not fox shock, that fox, that makes clothes). can anyone help to find a video or article about him please?
  • 3 1
Ten million man points! I've got a slightly gammy hand which hasn't ever put me off, but he is next level! Mass respect!! Smile
  • 1 0
He is better than a lot of 2 handed mountain bikers.
  • 73 4
 So, couple of things:
A) He rides faster with one hand than most people with two. That's hellishly impressive. I honestly find his riding more impressive than almost anyone else's, including Rampage and WC DH stuff.

B) That brake cylinder profile is seriously like the best feature of the Formula ROs. Takes up very little cockpit real-estate, super easy to fit in shifter pods and dropper levers at optimal positions. Listen up Shimano, SRAM, Hope, etc- THAT IS HOW YOU DESIGN A LEVER!!!! STOP TAKING UP ALL OF THE DAMN COCKPIT WITH YOUR GIANT PLASTICKY RESERVOIR NONSENSE!!!! Slim, sexy, and metal is where it's at, time to step it up.
  • 16 7
Yes great brake cylinder profile but below average power, average modulation, wooden feel and horrible squealing from wet brakes. I guess I'll stick to worse spacial design so that I get great power, superb modulation, great feel and near silent braking in all conditions. No plastic in XTR or Saint M820 BTW.
  • 7 5
Uh..... have you ever ridden ROs? I'm guessing not.
If by below average power you mean among, if not the most powerful brakes around, then yes. www.bikeradar.com/us/mtb/gear/article/how-we-test-hydraulic-disc-brakes-24345 ROs beat out XTR and Saints in dyno testing. Real world is going to be subjective, but my ROs feel quite a bit more powerful than my M820 Saints.
If by average modulation you mean far more than any shimano, and on par with Hope, then yes.
Wooden feel, I guess that's a personal thing but I wouldn't call them wooden at all, the opposite actually.
Squealing in the wet? Well, yup, that's a sintered pad thing. Organics will shut them up nicely, if you care about it.
And yes, I own both XTRs and Saints, switched to Hope V4s and Formula ROs, and it's a big upgrade.
  • 2 3
Point A) totally agreed, I had to up you just because of that even though I don't agree with

Point B) no one's reservoir is taking up part of the cockpit... the mount and the lever itself is all that matters. 2011 model year onward shimano brakes are the shit, super low profile lever and super awesome feel. plus, shimano and sram both allow you to attach your shifter to the brake, which does so much more for your cockpit than tidying up the brake a bit.
  • 2 1
i bet his pocket swipes are steezy AF
  • 2 3
@tsheep soooo, you are using a 3 year old article to prove your point?

That is like me saying, oh the RS Judy is THE best fork out there, and pulling an article from the 90's to support my point....

Regardless, that guy in the video has some insane balance and bike control skills, i get sketched when i lose part of my grip for a split second
  • 58 2
This guy needs a Cannondale Lefty to balance himself out.
  • 4 1
aw damn i was gonna make a lefty comment, props to you and props to the rider.
  • 38 1
Hats off to you mate. That's seriously impressive. Keep shredding!
  • 7 2
wish i could shred at half of his level. maybe he could lend a hand and show me
  • 1 3
 Boooooo ^
  • 13 0
So rad. And so fast! Way to not let adversity get in the way of your passion.
  • 14 0
i dont think i'm gonna moan about arm pump again...
  • 4 1
heeeyyyy, knew you would say something one day!
  • 12 0
Looking fast...I can only imagine how strong his right arm must be. Impressive to say the least!
  • 37 3
My right arm is very strong as well. For a slightly different reason though......
  • 4 1
right arm is strong since i dig with my right hand in front, left hand is for choking some chickens - so it just about evens out depending on how many chickens i need to choke
  • 11 1
absolute full respect to you mate, well done for getting on a bike and sticking with it, you must of gone through some tough times over the years to get that level of riding, you should be proud of yourself
  • 13 0
Wow, this guy is incredible ! So much determination... Smile
  • 11 0
One arm and he's still a better rider than me
  • 8 0
 #provecantwrong
  • 4 1
I injured my left hand and have been trying to ride one handed while I recover and I do NOT look that good. All the little bumps throw me off bad wonder how much the damper helps but either way mad respect that is no easy task and you are still shredding.
  • 4 1
what do you think of his top tube pinch technique with his knees?

looks like hes tossing the bike around with quite a bit of feed back from those knees no?
  • 7 0
 put a lefty on that
  • 3 1
Hats off to this guy. Some serious skill and determination there. His riding is so stylish and he's sending it off big shit! I tried riding one handed today and nearly stacked it on a root, let alone doing jumps at that sort of speed!
  • 1 0
Nice one Thomas. I too had a brachial plexus injury around 12yrs ago and lost about 80% use of my left arm. However I was fortunate enough to keep the use/grip in my hand. I now live in Squamish BC and ride as much as I can. Kudos to you buddy.
  • 2 1
DUDE!! I thought I was the only one! I need to find on of those steering dampers! My left arm was crushed in a car accident 14 years ago and it doesn't bend and I don't have movement in my wrist so I have trouble with left side handling. This is awesome!!! It has renewed my hope in riding like I used to!!! Thanks man! Keep shredding it up!
  • 2 1
I seem to remember a video of this guy, or at least I think it was this guy, about a year ago riding with a prosthetic that clamped onto the bar and used a fox damper to control its motion. I could be confused though, but he was talking about how he was worried how vulnerable his arm and prosthetic were in a crash. Could be why he went to bracing it up against his body and going one-armed. Ultimate respect man.
  • 2 1
Yeah, different guy. Tom Wheeler is the other rider.
  • 2 1
Yep, Tom Wheeler has the carbon arm brace and is the guy behind Notbroken.co.uk. Tom also did the filming and editing of this video!
  • 2 1
Shouldn't He be using a Lefty Fork to balance things out ? No, for real, hands down (no pun intended) Most impressive and incredible control !!

There is a Guy that rides in Pisgah and uses a prosthetic, with a clamp for one arm. He can blaze down some pretty technical terrain.
  • 1 0
simply inspirational! You're pioneer, buddy. hopefully the bike industry can work with you to develop technology to assist individuals with similar physical disability.

This truly define the saying "if there's a will, there's a way" You are paving that way.
  • 2 1
Everyone is impressed with your riding because for the moments we've fiddled with our phones on a ride and taken our hand off the bar to change songs or answer a call, we all almost gone down. To see you hammer the drops and rocks one handed is incredible. Amazing.
  • 2 1
epic video. you are the man!!! if i tried going off of one of those jumps one handed, the handlebars would probably turn super quick and poke (stab) me in the stomach and knock the wind outta me!!!!!
  • 3 1
He controls the trajectories with his legs (knees for the precision) on both sides of the top tube : impressive solution when the bike accelerates
  • 2 1
 good eye.
  • 1 0
I'd be really interested to know how that steering damper works if anyone's got any info? I am absolutely amazed that he can handle the bike this well with only one hand on the bars! Seriously impressive to watch!
  • 2 1
Hopey steering dampers..been around for years and years... www.hopey.org
  • 1 0
Emmeline Ragot used one of these (dunno if it's the same brand) back in 2012 on Mondraker. She's back on those bikes this year, so who knows, maybe we'll see it again this year.
  • 1 0
...the first time I ever got to ride a bike equipped with one was in 2002 on a Rocky Mountain RM9. It was a hoot being able to blast down flights of stairs with no hands.
  • 1 0
Good on him for managing to still get out there and rip. Looks like he's a better rider than me but bet he still has to deal with a few decent offs. Like somebody else said, looker scarier than Rampage!
  • 1 0
Wow!!! His precision and focus as he rides is absolutely amazing. He is a true testament to what it takes to keep doing what you love in life. In this case it is what we all love....Riding bikes. Much respect!!!
  • 1 0
Rad! Somebody should make him a custom stem-bar combination that doesn't have the left side of the handlebar for maximum weight savings. Maybe a one-piece carbon bar+stem with integrated steering damper?
  • 2 1
Very impressive...and definitely my respects to you for showing that kind of passion and not letting your injury take away your passion for riding!!!
  • 1 0
Totally tits and mightily impressive to watch, must take some stones to pick yourself up and get back on your bike after his accident.
  • 1 0
#Respect #R.E.S.P.E.C.T #Level_10 #skills2pay_da_bills #boss #solo_arm. This guys should be the riding for Santa Cruz on their solo bike.
  • 4 1
Better than me with two arms. Shit hot mate! Bloody sensational!
  • 1 0
So awesome!!! Just continues to prove that if there is a will, there is a way!!! And the fact you put a lot of 2 armed riders to shame makes it even better. keep charging
  • 1 0
Really inspirational, he's FAST !!!!!!! definietly the fastest guy in the world for riding this kind of tracks with ONE hand !!!
  • 3 1
That's just awesome! Love how the human body can adapt (not to mention the engineered/mechanical stuff).
  • 1 0
That's fucking awesome. I know a woman with one fully functional arm who's big into trail running. I wonder if she could try mountain biking with a setup like that.
  • 1 0
That's the absolute best string of responses to anything I have ever seen on Pinkbike. Great riding - and look at the inspiration!
  • 1 0
Dont mean to sound cliche but this is truly inspiring! One of many examples of human determination that reminds the rest of us just how good we really have it.
  • 1 0
 HOT DAMN!! Just awesome!

This guy rides better than me, and I have use of both of my arms and hands.

[[ Truly embarrassed now and motivated to step it up ]]
  • 1 0
PLUS his helmet matches his bike. Dude has skills even with one arm...great inspiration to anyone that think they can't do it.
  • 2 1
All my respect to this incredible guy! That's real passion and commitment to the sport! ;-)
  • 2 1
Pretty inspirational, How you stay on a bike using just one arm is amazing to say the least.
  • 4 2
Imagine how good he would be if he could use both arms!!!
  • 3 1
Much respect man! You are an inspiration
  • 1 0
Nice! "Kids - Do not try this at home" should be posted below video! Awesome!
  • 3 1
to save weight he could just cut the left part of his handlebar
  • 3 1
yea, i was wondering if there was a reason why he didn't
  • 1 0
was thinking the same. And then he should ride with a Lefty Fork. Woul look very sick...
  • 1 0
I have to say that this is more impressive then that South American bloke with no legs that races Garbanzo.
  • 3 1
I am wondering if a steering damper could help the two armed riders.
  • 1 0
It does. Ragot had one in 2012
  • 2 1
Incredible! I spent now 2 months riding with one arm and the only thing I could put together was a wheelie :-D
  • 2 1
F*ck me sideways. So much respect. I have no excuses. 2 broken wrists suddenly mean nothing...
  • 1 0
Call me a weight weenie but i would amputate that dead arm, how many grams would that save?
  • 1 0
Hold my beer... Wait nevermind I'll just bring it with. This guy is unreal! Good on him.
  • 2 1
I tried one arm biking once. Don't remember how it went, or ended. The medic was nice though.
  • 2 1
so he's gripping the bar with only the ring finger and the pinky, and shredding... respect bro.
  • 1 0
This Guy should use Lefty fork Smile Huge respect for Him. We should learn from people like this awesome Guy!!!!!
  • 1 0
