What can you say about Steve Peat that hasn’t already been said? World Champion, the people's champion, steel city icon, mountain bike legend? As one of the most winning athletes of all time, with over 2 decades of competitive racing under his belt, turning 40 would for many, have been the perfect excuse to retire, but not for Peaty. His love for the sport, his commitment to racing and his desire to push his own limits kept him coming back for more.
Steve has been embraced by fans around the world on his final season. Andorra 2016, Peaty is celebrated by the fans for his contribution to the sport.
In early 2015 Steve underwent surgery on a torn ACL and meniscus only to return later that year to World Cup racing. But without a complete season under his belt, and the announcement of his retirement it was going to be an uphill battle. Qualifying for his final world cup season was more important than ever.
