Bill and friends are absolute master craftsmen. Keep up the amazing work guys!
  • 17 3
Ya. I ride these trails, and they are epic!! These guys are true masters! Perfect flow and transitions. Thanks guys.
  • 28 1
That was amazing. beautiful design and construction. Masterful execution. I'd love to ride that. well done, gentlemen.
  • 7 1
I need to learn to build like this... I want to build trails so bad but I don't have the skills (or even the tools) necessary :/
  • 10 1
just gotta start! Practice will get you somewhere.........
  • 3 1
i love looking at and riding good wood work.
  • 28 1
Must say, I enjoyed this as much as (and if not more than) any riding edit out there... Great video!
  • 17 2
I agree "kdstones", that was fantastic! Don't think HEADnSHOULDERS should be used in a mountain stream though, lol.
  • 2 1
seth go to your local trail days and begin the learning. trail building is a good time.
  • 3 2
My local geography is like solid rock, definitely not easy to work with like that
:-(
  • 2 1
What an amazing looking trail, master craftsmen is an understatement, bravo!
  • 6 7
Not a big fan of woodwork in trails, but very impressive stuff, keep it up!
  • 7 2
normally i would agree, but that stream runs with "human biosolids" that they spray on the trees, i feel like a little shampoo might clean things up a bit.
  • 19 1
The feedback on this video is truly overwhelming and unexpected! I didn't imagine it would be enjoyed on this large a scale. I am at a loss for words.
To everyone who took the time to leave their piece: thank you.
To everyone who lent a hand along the way, no matter how big or how small, you are the best, thank you. Smile
  • 6 1
 Nonono… Thank you sir!^
  • 1 1
This is what a well chosen carrier looks like! Great job at making me feel so stupid for working in front of a computer haha. Props for everything and mostly for blending very well manmade stuff with nature! Btw, how did you guys bend that log? Did you find it that way or is there a process to make it like that? Thx
  • 64 6
Great video, huge respect to the trail builders. Maybe for the next one you could include a girl in the shower scene or just leave it out.
  • 34 1
Gives an idea how much work goes into minutes of fun for us. Many props to all builders! Everyone who rides should volunteer some time to keep their trails running smooth.
  • 5 1
endless hours and hours and days of fun man Wink
  • 27 1
Be nice to see some more footage of it being ridden at the end of the vid...
  • 27 1
 You wash the ass last!
  • 17 1
How do I join this team of trail builders???? this is all I want to do. Certified trail master...
  • 3 1
Do a lot of volunteering for your local trail association, go attend trail days and learn first hand and eventually it might lead to something Smile
  • 14 1
Really puts the amount of hard work done into perspective.
  • 10 1
You guys are artists and your medium is Flow. Thank you for building, even if I never get the opportunity to ride your creations. A appreciate seeing how they were constructed and ridden.
  • 11 1
Just once I need to have the satisfaction of building something and snapping the chalk line on it.
  • 10 1
This really shows the time and effort put into building trails. This makes me even more emotional about when they are destroyed by people who say it "wrecks the serenity".
  • 6 1
I'm fucking ready to get some amazing dreams now, thanks you guys! Was wonderful.
  • 2 1
Great work & results guys! Given up on building structures cause all it takes is one bad attitude with a chainsaw to render it all junk..ya It happens...Not everyone shares our joy for nailing things together in the forest to play on...this kind of effort is best reserved for the more 'official' bike zones
  • 1 1
Sadly, that's life on the shore these day's.
  • 4 1
Off the hook fellas. Thanks to all the trail builders around the world for keeping us continually in a state of stoke.
  • 6 1
 no work no play
  • 4 1
 No Dig No Ride
  • 4 1
where are these trails? if they are open to the public id love to come ride them!
  • 3 1
Im guessing with their shout outs to Oak Bay Bicycles and Slegg Lumber that these trails are on Vancouver Island...thats all I got.
  • 1 1
I'm guessing these are meant to be somewhat of a secret. Shhh
  • 1 1
Moving back to the island in a month after a decade of living in Ontario. Very excited.
  • 4 1
Really no better word than craftsmen to describe this crew. Shows the pride they have in their work.
  • 4 1
How about a full edit of that amazingly crafted trail, Could end up being video of the month!!!!
  • 3 1
Riders in Nanaimo are spoilt with not only Mr McLane's build skills, but also his organisation skills have rejuvenated our bike community. True blue dude.
  • 4 1
i can't believe i watched that twice. one of the best videos with hardly any riding.
  • 1 1
Inspiring stuff!!! Especially the guy washing his balls and a$$crack.

I'm sure it was very difficult trying to decide where that segment fit best in the piece, or if it belonged at all. But you persevered nonetheless and taught us all the importance of showering BEFORE working in the dirt, sap and mud.

Who ever said mountain bikers weren't an intelligent, thoughtful breed?
  • 2 0
wonderful idea. amazing work. we never need to watch a man shower in any video. ever. especially not a full 20 secs as the first scene wtf
  • 2 1
Are there any videos with tutorials or similar to teach the likes of me how to make some of these platforms, i just don't know where to start
  • 3 1
I love your country! Canada has got beutiful forests!

+Where is this sick track?
  • 5 2
Big respect to this guys! What is that magic tool at 1:38 ?
  • 5 1
it a string coated in chalk powder
  • 6 1
The chalk line? Its just a piece of string coiled up in a thing like a tape measure, only its filled with blue (or red) chalk. The chalk impregnates the string, and when you pull it taught and snap it, it lays down a straight line for you to follow. Roofers use them, flooring guys as well, guys will actually spray hairspray over the line ones its layed down that way it holds up longer.
  • 1 1
Tnx guys, I haven't seen anything like this in Europe, I like these interesting tools which are not available in Europe, like nail holding hammer and other cool tools.
  • 1 1
You don't have claw hammers in Europe? I find that incredibly hard to believe. Building anything of size would be a nightmare without a claw hammer.
  • 2 1
This is a brilliant video, well done guys. Fantastic idea to speed up rather than slow down, and the work you have completed is absolutely terrific!
  • 3 0
good work, but whats the point of filming washing dudes?
  • 2 1
Sick trails and gorgeous woodwork. I wish we had cedar to build with here, we have to use treated wood to prevent it from rotting.
  • 2 1
AMAZING!!!! Absolutely amazing!!!! Gives you so much appreciation for the trails and the places we ride.
  • 2 1
Thattaaaa be boys ! Wonderful to see that kinda edit as well. Plus the great old 200 t !
  • 3 1
LOL nice use of a top handle chainsaw.... NAUGHTY BOY HA HA HA
  • 1 1
Nothing like building ur own section of trail and then riding it for the first time Smile
Awsome trails guys well done. Enjoy it!!
  • 2 2
very good video and construction of the track, I was also building tracks, but did not pollute the water with chemicals out of respect for the planet. regards
  • 3 1
 Awesome work! Thanks for sharing!
  • 2 1
Holy shit amazing work. The curved logs and how they all fit together is crazy.
  • 9 6

  • 3 2
"Starts Epic Slow Clap" , "Waits For Others To Join In"

(Because these guys deserve applause)
  • 1 1
Wish I was lucky enough to be able to ride these trails - looks absolutely incredible. Amazing edit & well done to the builders!
  • 2 2
I actually thought some of the wooden features looked pretty cool before the leveled all the planks with the chalk and chainsaw.
  • 1 1
It's easy to be misled be speed up the footage but it really is a huge amount of work that needs to be put in builng trail like this. Hats off and applause for builders!
  • 2 1
nice to know what goes on up stream of my drinking water supply. i thought it tasted a bit nutty....
  • 1 0

  • 1 0
You guys rock, thank you for creating such amazing trails
  • 1 1
Great video, would like to see more of this kind of stuff. Trail building deserves the praise
  • 2 1
So awesome! How you get those nice curved pieces
  • 4 2
Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure it's done by soaking it in water and gradually applying a bend to the plank along the grain? (the bigger and smoother the bend is, the easier it is).

I know that's one way to bend it but not sure if it was the method used here Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin
  • 11 1
To me it looks like they are naturally curved trees or large limbs, then cut in half length-wise to create a perfect pair...genius!
  • 6 1
They find a log which is approximately the correct shape, then cut it in half.
  • 4 1
when trees grow on a bank, they slowly curve as the bank slips downhill and they grow to remain straight. it's just a matter of wandering around and finding one with the right curve for what you want to use it for. these ones in particular were ripped in two so the curve was a perfect match. Smile
  • 2 1
I have finally found the meaning of life
