 I might like Neko’s fade from blue-to-red slightly better than Gwinn’s red-to-blue but Angel’s bike Is the clear winner in my eyes. All 3 are looking great and happy to see the ‘Merica! f**k yeah! at a reasonable level.

 From the perspective of the American theme, I'm not digging the purple. But it terms of overall artistic aesthetics, it all looks killer.

 @TheR: I was going to say the same thing. I like the paint job, but don’t love the purple. I get that red+blue=purple but the colors are red, white, and blue. There is no purple.

 @sino428: I think the artist and the riders are using purple as a metaphor. They're showing the world, or indeed the USA at least, is not red OR blue but the colours in between. You don't have to sit one side of the fence but can sympathise or have leanings for the other side. You are right, purple isn't in the American flag, but stick it in the blender and you have a purpley pink colour- also known as the USA.

Errr, I meant cool paint job.

 @AaGro: what about it? These are lyrics to one song someone wrote about America, and they are describing how things look, ‘purple’ mountains and ‘amber’ waves of grain. That doesn’t make it part of the National colors.

I personally couldn’t care less if these guys ride these jacked up patriotic theme bikes or just their regular colors schemes for world champs. But to me if they are going to do patriot things like a flag theme, then it should respect those colors and represent it properly.

 A raging debate about the morality of a dash of purple on a USA-themed bike. Definitive proof that the Pinkbike community will find a way to get their undies in a bunch about literally anything. I’m equal parts delighted and horrified!

 @sino428: wow...that was meant to be toungue in cheek. I was personally hoping to see an American’s bike done in American flag “thin blue line” livery. Just because it would look sick. Thought it was going to be Shaw but nope. Can’t be annoyed by creativity or purple. Nobody is faithfully recreating the flag on the whole bike...

I call b&w flag with a thin blue stripe on somebody’s bike for next year.

 @BiNARYBiKE: Yeah, man. S#$T. I didn't mean to start a raging debate. All I was saying is that in terms of the America theme, they missed the mark by adding purple. I'm not outraged by it, or offended by it. I just wouldn't have gone in that direction. In terms of overall paint job -- man, it's hard to beat. Killer.

 @AaGro: If you were joking then I apologize. Hard to gauge that in posts. Its not really a big deal, I personally just don't like the idea of taking artistic liberty when it comes to patriotic themes for any country. To me if you go that route, stick to the proper colors.

 Just artistic interpretation. Angel's has silver in it (My favorite of the three) and Spain's flag is primarily yellow and red. Eddie Master's is urban camo, Tahnee is blood spattered. All good.

 I doubt the intention was so heady, but I had a thought on this. With the US more partisan and divided than any time I can remember, I think it's nice to show the "purple" side of the country where reasonable people can disagree and land somewhere in the middle of the politics spectrum without pigeonholing themselves into one far side or the other.

...but it is just a paint job on a bike.

 Purple is symbolic of bravery in the US Military. Also it has much historical significance within Christianity.

 @Y12Sentinel: Counterpoints. 1) These are race bikes, and have nothing to do with Bravery or the Military. 2) who gives a shit about Christianity when it comes to using proper colors in a flag theme? The US is a nation of all types of religions. 3) Considering they did the same thing with the orange on Suarez's bike they did not have any symbolism in mind.

While I just don't like the idea of the purple personally its not really that big a deal. They did it because they thought the fade looked cool (which it does) and that's really it.

 It’s interesting to me some of the changes from bike to bike, like the cranks on Neko’s bike. He doesn’t get the high-end carbon ones?

 He probably just prefers the alloy cranks over carbon. Durability, feel, etc.

 They're nice bicycles forsure but IMO I'm not a fan of any colour combination to 'fade into another colour' meh just seems retro
