Thanks Pinkbike for the summary. This is the only post on team news that we really needed.

Isnt Bruce Klein that chick that used to be an athlete as a dude?
  • 20 5
More support for women on the factory teams would be nice to see. That would only help develop riders further. In particular, sad to see @trek not carry on with a factory-level ride after Rachel left.
  • 16 1
@sospeedy: who would they pick up though? it would make no sense to have a rider on the factory team who isn't podium competitive. lets be honest on any given day there are three women who will be on the podium.
  • 1 0
 @WAKIdesigns:

tire pressure monitor probably too..
  • 10 1
Some of us like all the team news. Reading tech reviews and figuring out how to spend all your money is nice and all...but I prefer reading about atheletes and how things are shaping up for the race season. It gets me pumped to train harder.
  • 11 3
@bike2850: if more women get better team support/cash the racing pool would get bigger. As of now, there is few option that are lucrative if a girl wants to make it as a career. Thus the need for bigger teams with deeper pockets to support up and coming female dh racers. Sadly if you look at the rosters. The bigger teams don't even support juniors. If the athertons can support an elite and junior womens, what are the bigs companies excuse. Are they gonna says, "personality doesn't work with the team".
  • 1 2
 @WAKIdesigns: That would be awesome!
  • 2 2
 @Bergsmannen: suspension headset spacers
  • 6 0
@sospeedy: true there is no female on the Trek DH team but if you look at Treks total roster including all cycling disciplines I doubt you can find another brand doing more for women ????‍♂️
  • 2 1
@sledshed: he is right. Trek is a bunch of mysoginists. They hired the best looking and cutest girls. That is not a coincidence. If they took Myriam Nicole to the DH team I’d be calling for torches and lanterns.
  • 1 0
@sospeedy: Guessing every team will be looking at snapping up Vali Hoell, good for her but I would imagine it's causing a few teams to overlook others. Sadly if you look at the depth of the junior women's field there aren't many riding at that level to choose from, the talented ones don't seem to progress past their local race scenes very often let alone up to national level to be spotted for a chance at Juniors. Hopefully it'll change here in the UK as in the last 3-5 years there are a lot more young girls and women out on the trails and racing, women's fields have doubled or more in some cases. That can only be a good thing.

Umm you do realise that pinkbike HQ is Squamish right? For example where's Gwin and Rudes coach from? Miranda Miller is from Squamish and plenty more top riders and companies in the sea to sky area. Come down from your high horse BC is a mecca for mtb. Do you honelty think vitals thread with the majority of posts are talking about wheel sizes and bikes more than rumours is pinkbikes main resource?

The Atherton venture is the most rad story this year. Can the most dominant female racer give life to a bike brand? Can a new manufacturer with unproven frames support a crew of pro racers? We havent had a old-school new bike/brand team in quite a few years.
  • 3 0
Great questions. Does the old adage 'Race on Sunday Sell on Monday' still hold true? Given how good bikes are these days [even small brands], I think rider and team experience trump and the Athertons will be competitive straight away. The Gwin story will be interestingly similar as both riders' brands are now local. All testing, prototyping, and communication can now be done in-house, real time. Imagine this versus an Aussie based rider on a European brand made in Asia. I think it could be quite a competitive advantage.
  • 22 6
Hey PB: please ask Intense, Trek, YT, Cube, MS Mondraker, Norco, Canyon, Madison, Giant, Specialized Gravity and that old boy's club Santa Cruz what's the deal with not having the future of female DH racers in their world cup programs? The paddock is big enough for more female role models.
  • 3 0
YT sponsor Vali Holl on the SRAM / TLD Racing. It's just that her contract isn't up with them yet so she isn't on their factory team yet
  • 4 0
Norco sponsors quite a lot of women. So, not sure why they are mentioned in your comment
  • 2 1
@franxxy: referring specifically to their DH world cup team, in which there are none (unless you can prove otherwise among the listed names: Norco Factory Racing Sam Blenkinsop, Henry Fitzgerald, Elliot Jamieson). So please keep it on track so to speak Wink
  • 2 1
@freductions: that's why that team wasn't listed Wink
  • 1 0
Is Samantha Soriano (US) not racing WC this year? I didnt see her on the Commencal /100% team. Or maybe this isnt a complete guide and more like a roundup of the top racers on the top programms.
  • 7 0
It's like asking NBA teams why they don't all have their own WNBA teams. Sometimes, the dollars and cents don't make sense.
  • 2 3
There isn't more capable womens on the world willing to race WC? Come on!... For me see teams with more than 2 men and no woman is sad...
  • 1 0
@almacigatrailrider: That’s also crazy to me, I mean there’s 27 (28 coming next season) g league teams. What would be mind blowing to me is if this AAF, Alliance of American Football, takes off. It’s already garnered a good deal of attention on ESPN. You think there’d be enough of a market to support a full 30 team WNBA, I can promise there’d be enough women athletes. Although essentially a “minor league” for football becoming popular doesn’t surprise me. At least not here in the states. Hell it has me wanting to dust off the old cleats lol

  • 7 0
 Who’s on the Banshee Legend?
  • 2 0
Seems like it's the Carbocage Factory Racing team that are on the Banshee frames this year.
  • 7 1
So is Magnus Manson actually a factory supported rider for Canyon? or whats the deal here?
  • 2 1
So many Canadians I lost count. Good to see the support. These B.C. Kids have all put in the work, B.C. Champions, Canadian Champions and World Champion. DH racing is happening in B.C. and the Pacific Northwest. B. C. must have more bike parks per capita than anywhere else.

Kind of shocked that there is no references involving Insync. Guess they didn't want it that way.

@mtbikeaddict: Meh, they all sound the same so was bound to get them crossed up.

 "Polygon UR
Mick Hannah, Tracey Hannah, Alexandre Fayolle, Simon Chapelet

I'm like a few others here, sad to see lack of investment by the big teams in female and juniors. Saying it's only 4 women with a real shot at the podium isn't good enough. Team's race to sell & develop products, but come on.

Where is Kellys team??? From Slovakia,I read story they should step in to WC.

Is Ethan the first 2nd generation racer? Fist time we've seen the child of a former WC racing pro on a factory team?
  • 11 0
Loic Bruni's dad is no slouch on a bike, although most of his race wins have come in the Masters DH category. I always wonder what would have happened if Eli Tomac went with mountain bikes instead of motorcycles.

 Fist time? Right now?

Andri Frischknecht has a;ready done a couple of years on the Scott factory team I believe.

Martin Maes riding DH this year? Or is the GT one a combined listing and he'll just be riding (/winning?) DH races for shits n giggles like last year?
  • 3 0
 Where’s Vali Höll?
  • 7 0
She's on the SRAM / TLD Racing team - that'll be added in shortly.
  • 4 0
still no frame sponsor for vali holl?
  • 1 0
@poutine: Yeah I definitely thought YT would do right by here
  • 1 0
@poutine: as far as I understand how this works is YT is the frame sponsor for this paticular SRAM/TLD team (I feel likes there’s so many of them). I guess she doesn’t get factory support. Meaning what, I don’t know, probably more less money, not as good logistics, etc. Has she ever been spotted chilling at the MOB circuit bus? I’m curious how this works too.
  • 1 0
@Zafotheviking: I believe she is riding on a YT frame still its just not a factory team - just two juniors - bit weird they arent in the mob I guess.
  • 1 0
@mikekazimer: welp, thanks mike. Just tried to explain this below, and noticed it had already explained by you.
Do you have insight on differences between a factory ride, and a component/company with a frame sponsor?
  • 15 0
@slayersxc17, I don't think Vali Holl is suffering from a lack of support, especially with a Red Bull helmet on her head. A team like TLD / SRAM is a little different from a factory team in that they're not tied to one bike sponsor - different athletes can be on different frames. In this case, I believe Vali is on a YT, and Lucas on a Trek.

It's the same program that Luca Shaw was on prior to Santa Cruz - it seems like a good place to be prior to making the jump up to the elites.
  • 2 0
 @mikekazimer: much clearer
  • 1 0
@mikekazimer: Do we know Vali Höll continues for Juniors and doesn't enter Elite this year yet?
