ODI AG-2 Lock-On Grips (135MM)
Our initial partnership with Aaron Gwin produced numerous innovations that pushed grip technology to new levels. With the new AG2 Grips, we wanted to continue to push the limits even further. The AG2 grips feature an ultra soft “Pro Compound” material with an improved knurl pattern that provides extra tackiness and control along with reduced vibration transfer. We coupled these features with an offset grip pattern to allow more padding where it is needed most without creating a large bulky grip. We then redesigned the most impact prone portions of the grips to provide an even better feel and accurate control when riding. The result is the most aggressive mix of traction and comfort of any DH grip available.

Features
• NEW! Larger Diameter - Grips feature a larger diameter than the original grips (30.5mm) with offset padding towards the rider for improved comfort.
• NEW! Softer Compound - Soft Pro Compound provides excellent shock absorption.
• NEW! Surface Pattern - Redesigned surface pattern for improved traction and vibration dampening.
• NEW! Improved Ergonomics - Redesigned Ends provide an improved feel.
• Aluminum Reinforced Ends - Provide extra durability against grip blowout.
• Angled Rib Pattern - Thin ribs add control without a bulky feel.
• Single Clamp - Uses our race-proven Version 2.1 Lock-On system.
• Hard Plastic End - Molded over the aluminum end-cap, the end provides durability but will not gouge.

$35.00 USD.

 $180 POC jersey? Bwaaaahahahahahahahaha!
Nothing says Xmas like giving Swedes 600% markup over normal jersey price...
  • 45 0
Yeah, or you could shop online sales, but 2 $30 shirts a $60 pair of shorts, gas your car, buy a lift ticket and a six pack to drink after! POC pads however have been worth every penny.
  • 35 13
I've bought two pieces of POC gear and they've both sucked bigly.
  • 25 1
Hence why the biking industry is a trendy f*cking shitshow like the fashion industry. Buy all these new cool shit to be a hard as f*ck XC/Trail/Enduro/Mountain biking badass.

180.00 chinese made jersey? Really?

CRC and Jenson are my budget purchase stores. You can get some good stuff for a decent price and not take out a line of credit for a pair of biking shoes, shorts and a shirt.

@schofell84: my Octal helmet is very nice, but it was still $140 wholesale. I don't think it's as good as it's MSRP indicates. Their gear is ridiculously expensive.

@bartb: Here's a list of other companies using the same Chinese contract helmet manufacturer as POC...

6D; Bell; Bern; Bollé; D-Curve; Fox; Giro; IXS; Kali; Lazer; Leatt; NOW; Shred; Star; Triple Eight; TSG

O'Neil/Azonic helmets are made in the USA and people talk down about them even though they are a good cost and go beyond national safety standards.

O'Neil/Azonic is just not in the habit of paying for favorable articles!

flag goose8 (Nov 15, 2017 at 19:17) (Below Threshold)
@cunning-linguist: Humor/humour? Sure- all day long. But my interests are in genuine guffaws- shit that is funny to the bone.

Call me whatever you like, but this line of adolescent joking doesn't do much for me. In addition, I think it further isolates anyone in the biking community who isn't a heterosexual man. Think about it for a second- if you were a woman, would you want to come to a forum where this sort of juvenile humour pops up in nearly every single comment section?

It's fairly obvious that we're a rather homogenous group of folks, but I argue that we need more diversity in our community. More people on bikes = better trails and a larger pool of people supporting mountain biking. There are other reasons to change the culture of mountain biking to be sure- like maybe it's just the right thing to do- but the better trails argument is pretty easily accessible so I'll go with it for the time being.

I get that the "little fun" argument seems like just that. After all, what's the problem with a couple of chuckles and some double entendres? My issue with it is that it stays here on the forums for people to see. That means that it perpetuates this myth of mountain biking culture as a masculine discipline that embraces a particular view of women, which is going to continue to isolate people who might otherwise consider riding mountain bikes and contributing to pb.

Not trying to start a flame war, nor do I expect to see any kind of shift in the comments that people leave. Rather, I'm drawing my own line in the sand and calling out sexism where I see it so that anyone who stumbles across this forum might see that there are members of this community who think differently and are working to change it.

Happy to discuss further either publicly or via PM's- drop me a line if you're interested in continuing the conversation. Cheers!

The only girlfriend I had was strange having her, and didn't seem like she knew what was going on. I vote flesh light.
  • 30 15
@goose8: it won't be long until we live in a world where you simply can't make a joke & life won't be much fun.

Put it this way, I feel if any offence is ever taken, that's the persons chioce to take offence. None is meant, implied or intended. Put it this way, my wife read your comments and mine and says you "should harden the f*ck up!" Her words not mine, although I wholeheartedly agree.
I do also believe it is all down to character. most people can read someone's opinion and then ignore it, others need to make a stand for the good of absolutely nobody, not happy unless they are moaning.

I do understand your point, but honestly, do you think a joke like that would put someone off ever riding a bike? Seriously?

I'll not continue, but I honestly don't care and never will, life's a bitch and then you die, fight for two tenths of f*ck all for people who will probably never appreciate it all your life if you want, I'll be over here having fun slaying trails, burning tyres, drinking beer, eating animals and having fun...

 @cunning-linguist: winner! Hahahaha
  • 15 6
@cunning-linguist: Thanks for taking the time to respond. Not offended by any means, just trying to voice some alternate perspectives. I sure as hell hope that pb wouldn't be enough to put someone off riding a bike, but I wouldn't be surprised if the banter on here kept people from contributing to the community. I guess it all comes down to what you want to make of it- keep the status quo and the boys' club stays like it is, or open it up and make it more inclusive. From the comments this conversation has attracted it seems clear which direction this community is headed. Seems like that's working for y'all- enjoy it.

@goose8: "Not trying to start a flame war"

I call "bullshit"!

"In addition, I think it further isolates anyone in the biking community who isn't a heterosexual man"

Since that is your perspective you are trying to project, I think you should get over yourself and learn how people in RL function.

" That means that it perpetuates this myth of mountain biking culture as a masculine discipline that embraces a particular view of women"

This is literally the first time I have read this on the internet, never heard it in RL. Stop projecting!

In 2010, some male pros bikers mentioned that there needs to be more ladies in the sport. It's 2017 now and the sport has many, many women involved. And, and, most of us see ourselves as equal and treat each other as equals.

You have been spending too much of your time reading about gender propaganda. Your context you have projected in your post has lead me to that assumption.
  • 7 2
@XCMark: I appreciate you taking the time to wade in and share your views, especially since my comment has been suppressed sufficiently that it's below the threshold for being seen without taking the time to click on it. I think I've elaborated more than enough on my motives for questioning what was originally written, but I'll take a minute to respond to some of your other points.

I'm surprised to hear you describe my views as propaganda. I base my comments based on my real life experiences. Not projecting anything but things that people have told me in conversation about their experiences in mountain biking. That's it, end of story. You may not have had the same experiences that I have, but that doesn't mean I'm projecting jack shit.

I'm stoked to hear that the people you know in the sport are treated as equals. You didn't explicitly state as to whether or not this includes women- does it? Have you asked many women if they feel like they're treated as equals? In my experience that hasn't always been true, but I'm thrilled to hear that things are changing (if that's what you're saying). And lest you think that I'm alone in thinking there is a problem, take a minute to read about the perspectives of someone who has experienced it firsthand: Amanda Batty... blog.amandabatty.com Thoughts?
  • 8 8
@goose8: Man, you really are still butt hurt by this. Chill out!

Just wasted minutes of my life reading the blogs. Total twaddle. She's extra sensitive cos she was touched by her cousin as a child, no wonder she's extra pissed at everyone. Let us not assume that EVERYONE has had the same upbringing.

I'm not having a go at her as it isn't her fault, I'm having a go at you for portraying her views as middle ground.

Now shut up and f*ck off!
  • 7 6
@cunning-linguist: I bet goose8 either has a man bun or uses beard oil or both
  • 3 4
 @nummbr7: hahahahahha!
  • 7 4
@cunning-linguist: That's too bad that you didn't find the link I shared worthwhile. I thought that her discussion of the Pinarello ad campaign would be relevant to this conversation. I didn't mean to imply that her views were middle ground, just wanted to demonstrate that women in cycling generally have a tough time of it.

As for being offended, I'm not. I just suspect the adolescent humour that peppers these comment boards is pretty off-putting to people, and I call it like I see it.

I've said my piece and way more than I originally intended to, so I'm off to groom my man bun and oil my beard. Priorities!

All I want for christmas is for Trump to choke on Santa's tube of cookie dough. Clean oceans, no more wars, mass migrations etc. Unfuck the world Santa, get those elves busy.

The most ironic consumerism event is Black Friday. The day before everyone is: "I'm so thankful and content with what we have. What a great life we live" *next day* "motherf*cker, if you don't let go of the 90% off flatscreen, I'm gonna beat your ass"
  • 8 2
@ibishreddin: Nah, thats only in the U.S. We have ours in the January after Christmas sales. Cause we didnt get enough shit for xmas so we need more.
  • 11 8
@Boardlife69: what I love in Christmas is Good intentions. Coming from guilt. It's like environmentalism just more fun. Then you have Easter which is the ultimate festival och ideological hipocrisy. Like dark hour... earth's day - today we don't eat meat...

Hey guys, please, pardon my cinicysm but you must see the paralellss... how about we just adopt Christian holidays for our environmental approach to bikes? Like fasting. Let's just don't buy stuff for a month and then go on a shopping spree! de mane sanctus spirituuuuus. This is the blood of Chriiiist" - holy Dot5.1 by Church of St Peter, 55.50$ a gallon fill your brakes thy shall not need to bleed until Easteeeeer. even Aaaaavid.

But Nemo would be too easy to find in a clean ocean
  • 1 0
@Boardlife69: That's the job of The People. We need to get it out of our heads that we can hand our responsibilities over to 'Santa' to fix them.
  • 17 5
Alcohol consumption paraphernalia is ok? But no one hitter or bong? Let's stick to mountain biking stuff!
  • 11 0
Please Santa... don't put those sunglasses in my stocking. Those things weren't even cool in 1989 the first time they came out.
  • 13 1
Man, I think I'm too poor to be a mountain biker.

$400 for a one bike rack. Bahahahaha. Thule sucks. Stop scarring up my Fox 40.
  • 2 0
I bought a brand-new Kuat Transfer 3 for less than that, which indeed can carry 3 bikes. It's heavy as heck, though. Works great aside from weighing a metric ton.
  • 2 2
racks are stupid expensive. I paid $1200 for my bike, I'm not going to pay a third of it's cost just to carry it...sheesh.
  • 4 0
@preach: they are expensive, but I have a smaller car that can't fit a bike inside. So the rack is cheaper than buying a new car just to carry my bike.
  • 1 0
@pinhead907: yessir, I drive a camry and have a "back rack" that works just fine that I got on clearance for $75 that have had for 5 years.
  • 1 0
@preach: Oh man, now I'm about to sound like some guy who's butthurt about his $500 rain shell. . . but the Kuat rack is pretty awesome ;-) And cheaper than a rain jacket.
  • 7 0
 Yakima: "Take More Friends"

Thule: "Friends Are For Losers"
  • 2 0
I use a Yakima hold up for 2 people, remove 4 screws when I want a single rack (much lighter) and a +2 to make it a 4 bike. $750 is stupid money but it did include locks and cylinders which Rack-it keyed to match. Thule was much more with locks and seems to be the same basic sh!t.

$6000 for a van and I never have to worry about how I transport the bike.
  • 12 1
I don’t want any of these items if my wife reads this article.

I ride bikes in street clothes now. All this China made clothing that is very fashion based doesn't last that long. I still ride a bike everywhere. No car for now raising a family that rides bikes. Keep Pinkbike funny!

I have a Giro Chronicle Mips helmet and I love it. Very comfortable and secure fit. Doesn't ride up my forehead like some helmets do. Easy to adjust for wearing a liner on really cold days. Lots of good airflow for the hot days. Only downfall is there's no real good place to stick an action camera mount on top. I don't like having them hang off the side and my chest mount doesn't always get the angle I'm after. Still a great helmet though.

Nothing says modern bike culture like a 150$ beer jug and a 180$ shirt.

At the same time, I'm all for it. I think people bitch too much about "consumerism." POC sponsors events and riders, as do fox and every other brand we complain about being too expensive. If you don;t want something, move along. I am thinking about how to make my own growler keg though, the only thing special there is the lid and some fittings.

Reverb trigger upgrade? Why would I give my money to rockshox for something they should have gotten right years ago?! No thanks.

I'd rather give it to wolftooth for their cable conversion kit.
  • 6 1
Some interesting gift ideas. Wish OneUp would advertise the full cost of installing an EDC tool as shown in the advertisement. $59USD buys you the tool, it requires another $60USD to install it in your fork.

I don't get companies charging so much for lights when you can go to Amazon and get a kick ass light for $20-$50. They are all using the same CREE LEDs with the same controller.
  • 3 0
While I agree said light is too expensive, you're better off with a Lezyne/Cateye/(insert reputable brand here) self contained LED lamp. Cheap chinese lamps with external batteries suck even though you're getting enough lumen to be seen from space.
  • 3 0
Cree make's solid led's (not the fake one's). I can't speak for the other guys but I can personally tell you we don't use the same controllers. If you really stack our lights (or any real light mfg) up against amazon specials there is no comparison. What comes down to costs of a light is the quality of parts and the design of how it increases your night riding experience.
  • 1 0
I like the cheap lights and used them for years. If your budget allows the self contained usb rechargeable are the way to go. I use the light and motion for $100 now and they are on their second season.

I love the Feedback Sports cassette removal tool. Must be much more convenient than my old school one.

same here, stuck at 50% for some reason...

 @Red-Rims525: Me too. Oh well.
  • 1 0
Yep, couldn't get it to work either. Tried being from the US through the VPN to check if it was a geoblock but no luck so far. Looks like a glitch.

I've got the M.U.LE. Lowrider. Paid $225 CAD but worth every penny.I can carry 10+ pounds and not even notice. And it hugs my body like a clingy girlfriend with self-esteem issues.

Do you have the one with this new bladder? How does it compare to the older bladder?

I'm thinking there should be a giant PB meet & greet.
Held at someone's mom's house.
Couple kegs, chips, dip.
So all of us can put a face to the comment's.
I bet you would be able to instantly pick out all the one's who's feelings get hurt on here. They would be the one's drinking ZIMA.

“And the new Reverb 1x Remote’s Bleeding Edge™ fitting ensures that the periodic maintenance needed for optimum performance is about as hassle-free as working the remote itself.“
Is RockShox the new CB?

Pinkbike please make your branded goods more affordable and I will buy multiples of each. $25 is way too much for a t-shirt or put them on amazon.

will the Bryton mount to a 35mm bar? looks like its meant for road bikes, might not handle the abuse an mtb will put it through

@shawnca7: Amada Batty is a cool, free spirited, talented rider and writer. she was treated very unfaily by the PB community.

@goose8: Some people can't see outside themselves.

That beer thing for me please! All beer related things are winners for me.
  • 1 0
That growler is legit, I have one without the tap and it keeps beer cold and fresh for a solid 3 days after opening. Perfect for a long weekend of camping and riding.
  • 2 0
How is this post different than checkout of the month? Same type of stuff that cost way more than they are worth.

“Crack open your growler” as the priest said to the nun.

Rockshox 1x lever? Yech... Way better idea is to sell the reverb and buy a bikeyoke revive using a Jensen coupon and come out about even. Worked well for me!

If it didn't require you to tap your steerer tube I'd be all over the OneUp Edc tool, but the thought of tapping my steerer scares the crap out of me.
  • 4 0
You only have to tap a couple of cm. It's no scarier than cutting the steerer.
  • 20 0
@Kamba6: Measure twice, cut it too short anyway.
  • 1 0
 @sackmeister: Every time, without fail.
  • 4 0
but you're happy to twat a star fangled nut in there, scraping the hell out of the inside of it? i'd say a properly cut thread is far less risky than a scored steerer from a SFN, and who head of one of those causing a failure anyway?
  • 10 0
 I'd tap that.
  • 1 0
Ok pinkbike you got me. Just ordered some clothes for xmas presents.
  • 1 0
I'm eyeing up that Box One 11-spd derailleur for Xmas.

Can you carry a full face helmet with the M.U.L.E?
  • 1 0
I have an older model mule and it is capable of carrying a full face, but if it's heavy it will mess up the weight transfer a little
  • 1 0
Giro Chronicle MIPS is about the only thing in here worth buying.
  • 1 1
Great selection of gifts that are useful without being too bike-specific.
