Finn Iles took the Silver Star Downhill on his Specialized Demo, while Jesse Melamed won the Kicking Horse Downhill on his Rocky Mountain enduro bike. We can't wait to see how the race plays out this week for the third and final Downhill race of the CLIF Crankworx Summer Series - the MAXXIS Sun Peaks Downhill...
Check out the full rider list and schedule in the Pinkbike Primer.
At silverstar they missed the best parts, there's one rock garden that people just gap entirely and it's super fun to watch but crankworx has decided that we only want to see the first 10 seconds and the last 40 seconds
@Wizardbongs: Also, these broadcasts do not need to be 2 hours long. Trying to 'watch' the replay and just watch the race runs is infuriating because almost everywhere you click along the timeline is just people talking on Zoom, or an ad. There is so little racing...
Bit of a bummer we didn't get to see the Insanity One send under the chair - they teased us by showing riders taking off but not showing the actual drop....
OR any of the actual trail. Only Resurrection. Makes sun peaks look tame!
I mean it's not just that Crankworx wants to do the first 10 and last 40... it's also a matter of getting cabling throughout the course including fibre optic and power. Not the easiest thing to lug up and down a mountain covered in trees
@timmyno7: it's not actually live though so they could just use some simple cameras to capture the middle part of the race, i get it could be a lot of work but at this point it's a joke, they drop in and then the next scene is 3 minutes in? They skipped the entire track, all the tech, all the line choice etc... tbh it would be better if they just did a recap and actually showed the entire track...
@Bikerdude137: it is live this week the dh and today’s air dh are live live. But I agree I feel like a delayed “live like” webcast with better shot locations could be cooler. Some race tracks are worth the wait!
Haha love the teammate banter between Finn and Loic during the post race interview. Genuinely seem like good buds who push each other to compete at the highest level. Specialized has a perfect fit there. Can't wait to see Finn at some WCs, hopefully soon!
Be cool to see them used more at WC’s. They must be hard to tune out for the riders when that’s the only trackside noise as opposed to the 100’s- 1000’s of fans that normally hear yelling and screaming.
I really enjoy trail reviews and course previews with pros. Lots of good insight there that I try and apply on the trails. Then completely forget while I'm hanging on for dear life.
Comment was meant for @ploutre comment in the downvotes. For some reason it didn’t respond to his... oh well sometimes you look stupid on the internet!

Yeah... it's not like he used the dhr last year or anything
