I love the simplicity of this product. The bearings in the roller of my e.13 DRS often jam up when ridding in the muck. The problems gotten better since switching to a different grease, but with this product, that would never be a problem.
  • 1 0
Thanks! I am researching what to order as a replacement for my e13 right now. I hate my e13 in the muck.

Different grease in the bearings makes a huge difference. The stock bearing have an inferior grease. I opened up the bearings, and greased them with Finish Line grease (with Teflon) and have had much less problems with them.

oh FFS mountain biking please get out of this electronic music trend.
  • 2 2
boo hoo....the tune rocked and suited the energy level and speed of the riding.
  • 2 1
Theres nowt wrong with electro tbh, it really puts across the same intense buzz that riding gives. What would you rather have in a bike film? Im pretty sure its out there... Your targeting a tiny portion of the bike media when you bitch about electro.
  • 4 2
hahahaha I'm not preaching to right choir in here.
  • 2 2
I just watched the previous 10 VOD's and one of them had an electro soundtrack... some dominating trend your talking about here Rolleyes

But something worth highlighting even more than that is the fact that the music in this video here isn't even electro lol It's more of a dance/pop song than anything!

Seriously, grow up and embrace the fact that not everyone thinks the same way you do.

Everyone should have the same tastes as me duh! Just about every clip that's shown has the same filming techniques and genre of music. It gets old. Go watch some skate and bmx videos FFS.

'Take it or leave it' is an awesome bmx vid/documentary, also check out 'Resevoir Dogs' which is a bmx documentary short about a north England trip. Trust me man, I watch a lot of stuff. I like 'Coastal Crew' style edits, but I'm not limited to just them by any means Wink

We're rocking the silent guides on all our camp bikes because they work so great. To ride it is to believe. Having spent a good part of my life thinking up new stuff, I always say - "Everyone likes new stuff - as long as it looks like the old stuff." It takes a while to change people's minds from old thinking.

Dope, Got one of the first ones and I effing love it. Props to straitline, not only on the functionality of the product but the amazing price
  • 3 1
still like $100. Id rather just go with an lg1 at that price. plus the lg1 looks cleaner without a bash on it.

$175...lg1 may look better but this IS better (unsubjectively)
  • 1 0
175? all the more reason not to get it. I wouldnt go as far and say this is better than an LG1. If you look around everyone is copying e13's guides, says something about their company.
  • 1 0
How is this a copy off E13? Straitline had the sliders first. Straitline is also stronger, & on hard impact wont kill your ISCG tabs, all while being lighter, and retaining the ability to guide a chain properly...
  • 4 1
i got one of these chain devices and they run sweet as anything
  • 1 0
No Fu Manchu??? Nevertheless another great job. I loved the helmet cam strapped to the bike, Very creative and cool perspective.
  • 4 5
i can see these having a great place on rental and demo bikes, but seriously i dont give a- if its the lightest guide its too expensive for what it is, it uses a metal bashguard like its still 2002, it has a fair amount of drag, and its seriously not that silent...infact its kinda loud
  • 3 0
 Mine is actually really quiet.....???
  • 4 1
since I switched I've actually gotten comments on how quiet my bike is, last race the announcer didn't hear me coming.
  • 1 0
Ah that would be stealth mode, Dex. Great vid BTW.
  • 2 0
since this guide has no moving parts i guess that chain is simply tearing those plastic elements, so how on earth can it be more silent than the regular guides?
  • 3 0
RE: Original Comment - Its Straightline, of course its not going to be cheap regardless of how good it actually is.

Oh and if you dont like metal bashguards, just use the one you do like off your old system. Pretty simple really.

From a maintainance standpoint however, I'm really liking the look of this - I've had to replace exploded bearings on my E13 pulley twice in the past year now...

e.13 guides are loud.........I havent tried this one, but jesus lighten up on these guys. Looks like a good product. Keep it up Straitline!
  • 3 1
My LG1 runs pretty damn quiet actually! Just gotta keep it well maintained.
  • 1 0
Mines actually alright too, not "quiet" but doesnt bother me. Its well maintained. I know a couple people with LOUD ones....
  • 1 0
me2menow.........what do you knwo about 2002?? You were 8 years old, I was crawling my aluminum bash rings over rocks when you were in 2nd grade.

Nothin' wrong with aluminum bash rings.....kids these days sheeshhh Wink
  • 1 0
The friction on the sliders is actualy very low. Dont know how they found the right material but all the people who talk about drag had no experiance with it before. My old lapirre cg (gamut style with 2 rollers) had more drag than this. Its also very silent. Yes they sliders wear but after a month of riding in the most shitty conditions ever (we have a month long flood here) I still dont see it.

And metal bash works.
  • 1 0
So its got a metal bash...and its lighter than an lg1...props to straitline.
  • 1 0
 Sliders are Polyurethane...
  • 2 0
Weight for the Silent Guide on Chain Reaction is stated as 195 grams whereas the LG1+ is 169 grams??
  • 1 1
Probably its with bash so without it its lighter than lg1 without the taco.
  • 1 0
 ..
  • 1 0
whats with the ..?? Its not lighter with bash, yes it is a marketing bs and its no lighter than lg1+ but it is lighter than the SRS+ and a lot ppl want the full bash(because they like the warranty on their frames Wink )
  • 1 0
My red SRS+ was 193 grams out of the box and this is not claimed weight!( for the 32 - 36)
  • 1 1
E13 has kinda set the standard in chain guides, people are just trying to find faults in newer ones because it doesnt look like an e13 and are just scared to try anything different. If it aint broken dont fix it.
  • 5 0
If you can do better why not try it? With that mindset we would still be hyping ti hardtails with 100mm judy forks for downhill...
  • 1 0
 +1
  • 1 0
Maybe they can follow this up with the silent front derailleur which is rubber instead of metal. I can't stand derailleur slap on my trail bike.
  • 7 6
If it came in some color other than bright freaking green I might try it out.
  • 3 0
The rollers are available in different colours...
  • 2 1
Yeah, where's the basic black? I do want one. Paint pens can do wonders.
  • 3 0
Hey man, you can get White, Black, Blue and Red sliders, Green is just the stock color. Check out the "helmet cam" shots of the guide in the video. We got White ones for Dexter's Norco after shooting the main portion of the video.
  • 2 1
see seraph, this is what i was talking about, you take aesthetics before function
  • 7 4
Not really. You see I already know that E.13 guides work great, so if I'm going to try a new product, I want it to at least not be an eyesore.
  • 6 2
I'm fairly sure this guide got jammed and ruined Ben Cathro's run at Fort William (his best chance at a good result so far), just stick with E.13.
  • 4 1
Here's the post the Straitline made on the video in regards to the same question about Ben Cathro.

" try being me seeing that, I shat my pants and shed a tear not knowing what happened until afterwards.

Ben cased a rock on a step down and needed new cranks and chain ring and decided to bend the outer bash back into place rather than replace it entirely. It worked but was not ideal and it left room for error on his run right where Gracia had his fail from a previous crash.

Nothing is impervious to damage it is foolish and arrogant to assume it is. This is something the biking community needs to remember and what the Moto world simply accepts.

Just Heartbreaking for Ben, that was his moment and he was fresh off of a win at the IXS DH Cup the weekend before. "
  • 3 2
I see, although I will add that my E.13 is bent to hell yet it still works. I guess Ben got unlucky
  • 1 0
Didn't Minnaar suffer a Gamut chain guide issue as well? He didn't specifically say what his 'mechanical' was that held him back. I'm assuming though.
  • 2 0
Isnt Minnaar on e13? Actualy I think a lot of the stuff simply breaks in Ft. William. The backplate of the silent guide is much much thicker than the new e13 guides (lg1+ srs+) so it will be harder to damage. The bash is also really sturdy. Ive already stopped mine on a tree(!!!) and it is only scratched. Imho its much more durable than e13. Especialy that I know a few people who bent their backplates on them.

  • 1 1
 sweet
  • 3 1
Looks simple and it works. I've been using mine for 3 months now and it's so much easier than E13 to set up and maintain. Love mine.

wouldnt run anything else at this point and time!
  • 1 1
 Respect!
  • 2 5
i hate when people watch a video or something of a new product and they say they have it and it's sick (when they dont) and it works good..
  • 5 2
how do you know who has it and who doesn't. shut up
  • 2 0
Well you can always check their photos on pb. I have it, its sick and your comment is silly.
  • 1 3
there cool till you brake one i had mine for three days and managed to brake it
  • 2 1
