Montgomery Talks About The Straitline Hydraulic Gyro:
Mike Montgomery took a strong second, as well as best trick honors, with this prototype Straitline hydraulic gyro installed on the front of his Banshee. Expect to see a few other riders, including Cam McCaul, Brandon Semenuk and Casey Groves, rocking one of these at some of the upcoming events.
Pinkbike's take: No, this isn't the first go at a hydraulic gyro, but knowing Straitline, this version may just be the one that takes off. Word is that previous attempts in the past by other companies have always been scuttled by seals that weren't up to snuff, making for an unreliable setup that, even when working, took most of the firmness out of the lever. If Straitline can manufacture a production version that proves to be reliable, cost effective and not change the feel of the brake, we'll begin to finally see the hydraulic gyro on the front of a lot of slope and DJ bikes.

im not sure about semenuk but mccaul is running the trixer non stop for several years now. i doubt he would ride it for such a long time if it didn't work well.
im absolutly cool with them riding the straitline gyro. but i dont like that straitline is acting like they reinvented the wheel. in fact they improved (did they? nobody knows yet) a system thats been there for almost a decade
Straitline isn't claiming anything, in fact there is no comment from Straitline in the post at all. Mike Levy says "this isn't the first go at a hydraulic gyro" and if you listen to the audio you will notice that Mike Montgomery straight up says that they took a design that they felt didn't work as well as it should and improved it. And he mentions that Cam was involved with the design as well, working from the one that he's had to improve it. And they did improve it, we know that because Semenuk tried this one and will be putting one on his bike immediately. He isn't using the other one, and I would have to guess that's only because he isn't happy with it. If the trixer actually worked as well as you claim these riders wouldn't be putting so much effort into improving it.
Nowhere in the post was the Trixer mentioned by name by any of these guys, they were quite professional in not naming what they felt didn't work. This wasn't a review of the Straitline product, and it wasn't a comparison of different products. It was simply a post based on the new prototype that Mike Montgomery and Cam McCaul helped to design after I spoke to Mike about it at the Jump Ship event.

Man, I should screw off architecture and go into engineering new/better components for bikes.. I would truly enjoy life like that.
