The 2021 XC World Cup season continues with another lung-busting XCC Short Track race. Check out who will be racing today and when you can catch the live broadcast.
Red Bull TV live broadcast starts at PST 08:50 / EST 11:50 / BST 16:50 / CEST 17:50
It was hot out(84F) last Sunday, and MVDP isn't as good on the pure climber's racecourses like Albstadt. He'll probably crush this weekend since there are only 400ft of elevation per lap, and it's a technical course.
Good question. I figure that XCC is half an hour of madness and he can play around with that alongside the other disciplines he rides. The way he dropped everyone on that short climb in Albstadt proved noone can stay with him when he puts the hammer down. Putting in a "real" effort for the longer format would drain him and affect recovery and his ability to be fit to ride road races - which probably pays better for him.
Can anybody tell me how seeding and short track/XCO works for a competitors 1st time in elite world cup?
Lets say a young guy is racing his first elite world cup, lets say his start position is 101. The short track list only shows to 40. Is that an abbreviated list or do only the top 40 riders race short track for seeding to XCO?
Top 40 WCS determine short track start. Short track determines XCO start. Only top 40 race short track. That is why Pidcock did not race short track last weekend and is this weekend.
@marc-c: roger that. Cheering for a young american in the same boat. You just saved me from watching short track live and figuring it out by late next week... thanks!
For a second, I missed MVDP's name, and was like "hold up, where he at?" but then I saw it and realized I should probably get some sleep at this point.
Jersey they wear (national, world or european champions, or WC leader). But honestly, I have no idea what N would mean. No mark there, means regular team jersey. Edit: Eh it says on startlist... N = national team outfit, so obviously riding for national federation not pro team. NCh = National champion, WCL - World cup leader, WCh - World Champion, CCh - Continental Champion.
@wood80: I hear her. I hate that UCI made short track mandatory for a good start. It is just a way to force a new discipline on everyone so that they get more TV coverage and dollars. When it was voluntary, a lot of the top riders did not participate because they knew it drained the battery.
After last year this is so welcome, can't wait to watch round 2, with the DH fun still to come.
I mean he went out like mad and surprise - blew up? Pr was there something else happening?
