Is there anything Pidcock can't do?! What a beast of a rider...

Watched a few laps of the course. Basically a 10 minute climb and non-technical 5 minute descent. Fitness race. Anyone in world class road shape could have come off road bike to dominate. Didn’t see a lot of mountain biking!

@dr-airtime: but the guy is an amazing bike handler, road or mtb. See: www.instagram.com/p/CFFe3b3ghHJ

@dr-airtime: Was more like 5min climb, and a few 1-2 min ish climbs, the thing is you dont get to see more than half the course with their available broadcasting equipment. There was a lot of single track and technical bits that whilst not extreme I can assure you they wouldnt have been easy, you ever tried do anything remotely technical after riding 500w for 5mins?

Beat mvdp? Just joking... We are spoilt for having multiple once-in-a-generation superstars right now.

@dr-airtime: It was technical... the camera's don't show all the polished roots, slimy mud, ruts and off cambers... The dominating feature was definitely the climb, but the course certainly held it's own and was no joke.

(reporting from the field...)

@sspiff: On a course with a long, steep, climb he’ll beat everyone I think.

@dr-airtime I think @jackkson would know, she kinda rocked it with a top 10.

 he cannot beat MvdP

 @jackkson: nice result!

@xrob: The Swiss Sport TV coverage only showed the smoother parts of the track. The Track POV Dolores posted below shows you what they left out. Talking about the track by watching the SSTV video is like reading the first and last ten pages of a book and saying you know the whole story.

@vhdh666: He’s under 60KG and he beat Van Aert in a Sprint. I think it’s safe to say it’s only a matter of time before he beats everyone.

@jclnv: I hgope so, that will make CX more exciting

@Peteburrell: Yeah, this is in my local woods: www.instagram.com/tv/CAnyH9aA3LV - I ride these trails every week and this is seriously quick for that line!

@Augustus-G: I´m the guy from the Track POV Smile the whole Video is in superview, so it still looks kinda "smooth".

@stangerj: Very cool. From someone who races in the Desert Southwest US, where rocks are the rule, even in super-view you can tell that large portions of that course are not "smooth". Thanks for the video.

@Augustus-G: I can imagine. There is probably coming another Track POV from Albstadt. You can check it out if you want.

@stangerj: Looking forward to it. Thank you again!

Third and fourth place for the Canadian young guns, Sean Fincham and Carter Woods, plus tenth for Jenn Jackson. Nice going.

We need some Canadians up there to forget about the doped generation! (Ryder and Seamus)

Thank you! The boys were GOING today, stoked to see Carter roll the U23 World Cups coming up.

Agreed. THIS is the story of the race IMO. Great work by the young Canucks!

don't quote me on this, but I heard that Levy was at a mtb training camp with Tom Pidcock. Levy rode the BMC TwoStroke (value bike) and Tom an unbranded BMC bike, hence Tom's result (and bike choice). #mysterysolved

Thanks, will be watching tonight Smile

Norco is kicking some serious sponsor ass. Feels great knowing a Canadian company makes great products and stayed in BC. Seems like a great way to honour Bert Lewis and Port Coquitlam.

Swenson top ten this week, Blevins top ten last week. I’ve gotta say that U.S. representation is strong recently!

Really awesome. I can't remember the last time a U.S. male saw the pointy end of an international field. Steve Larson maybe in the late 90's early 00's?

It’s crazy to think how good a rider like Keegan is and then look at the time difference between him and Pidcock.
  • 2 0
@jclnv: for real... top couple of riders are on another level.

Looking forward to next weeks World Cup when Pidcock is starting at the back of the grid
  • 1 0
I don't think he is. He currently is 28th in the UCI Ranking so he should be able to ride XCC.
  • 1 0
@FujiPT: I don't think he qualifies for short track. He'll start way back in the field at albstadt and hopes to finish high enough to qualify for next round's short track. At least...that's what he said in his post-race interview. : )

Pleasantly surprised to see Emily Batty in top 10
  • 4 1
Who is Savilia Blunk? Don’t think I’ve ever heard the name, but she beat some heavy hitters.
  • 3 0
She actually popped up on Dialed during the first season I want to say. Rides for Orange Seal/Pivot (used to be on Liv) but I guess that doesn’t qualify as a WC team?
  • 3 0
Super fast Durango CO rider, still on her come up!
  • 2 0
She’s from Durango and started her own team this year with Cole Patton. She’s been up there with the US women for a few years, but definitely started to make herself know this past year. Pretty cool to have more US representation at international races.

 Yeah Jenn P10!!!!!!!

Pidcock was just out on a training ride. He wasn't even pushing hard.
  • 2 1
Was the course a muddy mess like riders were predicting? Big advantage to Pidcock if it was like cyclocross conditions.
  • 2 0
Good to see the BC killing it!
  • 1 0
Is Pidcock racing in Ineos kit? Is he riding a Pinarello mtb?
  • 7 0
He's on blacked out BMC frames and rode a twostroke today (ie a hardtail); everyone else was on a full sus. According to the commentary, he was gaining ~40sec(!) per lap on each climb, but losing ~10sec on each descent - ie canny equipment choice (if you've got the skills and the engine...)

To put this in context, Tituan Carod who came 2nd took bronze at 2020 Worlds, under a minute down and Pidcock has just taken 3 minutes out of him...
  • 1 0
Yes he’s racing for Ineos, but Pinarello doesn't make an MTB. His team has not yet revealed the bike they are using (to my knowledge), but it looked like a BMC TwoStroke to me.
