Mick Hannah grew up just down the road and will be racing this weekend in front of his family and friends. Having finished third here last year the rainbow stripes are very much a possibility for both Mick and his sister Tracey this weekend.

 3 years ago at Crankworx in Whistler I ran into an old industry pal. Yacking about BS and Mick rolls up on his proto Polygon. Start yacking with him about bikes and someone suggests a restaurant for beers and food. 4 hours later I've got a full belly and a new comrade in the world cup circuit. Mick is a top notch human and I hope he does well. The following year I was wasted drunk and he remembered me like I was an old high school pal. Root for him folks, he deserves it.

 Looks like it's going to be a wicked race! We have Sam with some wicked 1st and 2nd splits. Surely the big dog has some leg power hidden away for that final sprint. Mick looking comfortable up there, Blenki riding awesome too. So many talented racers fighting for the top spot! Bring it on can't wait!

 PinkBike... these posts/articles would be an excellent place to point out the difference between seeding and timed training. To a casual viewer, it is easy to miss that elite men are only doing practice runs. Some riders choose to not go all out. The results list can't be understood without realizing that.

 It's a tie. I want Sam Hill to win to revenge his last downhill season, but I also really want Mik to take it. He has been close so many times. Guy deserves it.

 Need to look at the times between the last split and the finish. Its clear that some tried on the pedal and many didnt. Sick Mick was 3.5 seconds up at split 2 to loic but only 1.1 by the finish. I guess he didnt bust a gut on the pedals today but was still fastest.

In the ladies most of Tannee's lead was in the pedal so was Pompom cruising that bit?

 Well I guess that answers the question about whether PolygonUR will be riding their new custom-painted AL frames, or the new prototypes.... I hope they give those custom AL bikes to the mechanics who wasted time building them up.

Hill just cruising like Gwin, could be epic between those too if Gwins luck is not a repeat of Peatys WChamps history as it's looking like it, who knows maybe this is it!
