Discovery getting the World Cup rights was the worst thing that could have happened to mountain biking. This free coverage is miles better than discovery’s paid product.
I disagree. Having actually sucked it up and paid for the GGN or whatever. Their coverage is superior. However Rob and Elliot / Trace make the Redbull broadcast far more enjoyable. I’m with you because I guess you meant that. But Coverage by definition sorry , Discovery are winning they would have shown the sweet slab .. plus the entire rest of the track. Anyway. Bring back Rob and Claudio. And Elliot! Great race
Isn’t it amazing what commentary does for an event?! Best race of the year so far. They seem to click perfectly with race conditions, history and enthusiasm.
weird having Tracey's mic takeover the venue sound for her interviews of the riders just after their runs. Her laid back and low energy interview style just wasn't a match for both the riders (who's adrenaline is still pumping while trying to catch their breath) as well as the high energy that was just created by Warner and Jacksons commentary just a minute prior.
Four stops of Crankworks is not enough & Redbull package is so superior to Discovery-UCI. Not the same old tracks or venues. Rob, Elliot & Tracy bring the level of excitement and atmosphere that makes downhill so exciting to watch. This was the best race so far this year for me. Valid showed up and dominated and I saw Brunei win here in Rotorua so we know the big guns like Crankworks. Mix it up with Redbull Hardline and and make it the premier race series. 7 Crankworks / 3 Hardlines?
I got back from riding Pipeline on Mt Fromme with a bunch of kids (holy hell it's dry here right now), in time to watch the last five riders or so. What a brilliant race. Somewhere in Wales, Bernard Kerr will be exceedingly pleased. By the way, does anyone know what happened with the junior women? I suspect the timing company's output choked for some reason, but there are no results except Attalla showing a DNS.
(Tracey's great too, but agree she might not be the best for finish line interviews...)
