And was the pin really threaded directly into CF?! (I mean before Uncle Bumblef*ck got to it)

Nope, that is not reach.
If someone prefers the way steering feels with a 50mm stem isn’t going to want to make up for a shorter or longer reach by putting a longer or shorter stem on it...
When you measure reach you measure the horizontal distance from the bottom bracket to the top of the headtube. Those are the two points involved in measuring reach. And while youre right on the part where a longer stem increases the distance between the saddle and the actual handlebars. However the reach itself doesnt change. Thats part of the frame.
Values like reach, stack and so forth all can be measured on a disassembled frame. as they are frame properties.
The problem with changing stem lengths is that it really changes the feel of the steering. On this bike for instance I would have to run a 85 mm stem to get the same horizontal distance from bb to handlebar as my most recent set up. That is a stem length I haven't run for 21 years when I went to a 50mm stem and have never gone longer than that since. Now running a 50mm stem on this bike would provide the same bb to handlebar distance as the bike I was riding 5 years ago, but... Man I love finally having room on modern bikes, and it would be hard to go back.
However like I said earlier, Mondraker is using 30mm stems with their forward geometry which is not a bad concept. To me, you have about 30mm (over 1 inch) of adjustment to your "riding reach" cockpit to make minor adjustments. I'm not talking about going crazy with long stems. Just fine tuning adjustments.
This bike however is 30 mm shorter than my most recent bike and I never felt stretched out, with a 45 mm stem.
If it was around 490 reach it would be in the start of the acceptable range in my opinion.
The difference between a 35 mm and 50 mm stem is noticable. I've never ridden anything shorter but would like too(though on that bike the longer felt better). I've more recently ridden a bike with a 70 mm stem and it felt very strange in comparison to 50 or shorter.
soon...
It would depend on what I was doing with the bike. If I was only interested in techy climbs, flatish mild trails, and more mild descents I would have no need for anything more than 485 reach. For what I regularly ride I prefer a bit over 500, but I don't ride super steep terrain a lot.
People can always size down and just get the advantage of having a super long dropper as an option. As a 6'4" and pretty heavy rider I have never had the option to get a bike that really fit right before recently.
In the last two weeks I've ridden Moose Mountain in Calgary, Panorama, Mt Swansea, Mt Seven, Kickinghorse and Silverstar. I might be a tad faster on the Enduro, but I have way more fun on the Spartan. I'm only 5'11" and 170lbs though.
Switching between 445(reach)/29er and a 406(reach)/26er it takes some descents to be ok, but afterwards, I do really enjoy that short reach and outstanding flickability of that "short" 26er, and made me think if I shouldn't be better with a 420/430 (60mm stem) 29er...
If you drink 5 crates of beer per year, each for 12.99€ (which is a regular price for 20x 0.5L bottles in Beermany), you can keep on doing that for approximately 52 years AND ride a SLIDE TRAIL 10.0 for the price of one "other" bike with the pretty much the same spec.
We think AvE would like this fact very much.
Shit quality, no aftersale service...
Every bearing service is a nightmare... Thos bolt are so small, not strong at all.
Good luck for put them out of the frame.
I had a Swoop 200... 3 times bearing service / year !
Cost me about 600€ / year for keep it right...
You order some new bolt and the set you get don't fit together and you need to begin playing with somes "big" tools.
Would like to see a mag who open up a radon to show how shit those bike are.
But I understand it is shit to order new bolts that then don't fit your frame.
Better luck with your next frame, maybe try the raaw, the bearings/bolts look huge!
I had the swoop 200 from 2016 and already the first ride was a nightmare.
Dérailleur went off after 2 run... No warranty because i needed to check my self that everyhing was locked.
Ok i can get as well there point of view. But i broke 3 dérailleur just because they fall off the frame. i'll try all, loctite and 10000 other solution, like i was already a bit upset ...
I finaly find a solution with a single speed bolt from both side of de hanger.
After, the axle and the bearing just kill me. Even with loctite, every weekend you need to tighten everyting otherwise it fall off + move on the shock...
And there is no aftersale service.
When you buy a new set who include the bolt and the bearing with... the axle didn't fit in the bearing... Verry not Professional. verry happy that this bike is away now.
But as i said, i was maybe not lucky... But never again
main bearing + bolt = 150€ (3 time 2 horst link set and a set is about 25€ www.bike-discount.de/fr/acheter/radon-main-bearing-screw-set-swoop-10362-630623)
Also this once a year www.bike-discount.de/fr/acheter/radon-shock-screws-set-swoop-200-10370-630645 for 15€
And this twice / season www.bike-components.de/fr/Fox-Racing-Shox/Set-de-Douilles-en-Acier-Inoxydable-8-mm-5-pieces-p35636
about 60€ par year
So almost 600€ yes ...
Luckely i can do almost everyhting by myslef...
