Welcome to Carrick Mountain, home of the EWS 2014, 2015 and 2016. This weekend the known Irish region of Wicklow will see the last race of the Vitus Gravity Enduro Series 2019. Carrick Mountain is the location selected for the event and the race will be up to its location. Tomorrow the riders will face a long 30km and 996m of climbing and the same descending, all in 5 special stages. With 340 riders registered and an amazing weather forecast, it will be a busy day on the trails. It hasn't rained in a couple of days so the loam is perfect, no muddy or slick rocks to deal with, is all about fitness and letting go of the brakes.
Located just about 30min drive South Dublin, Carrick makes a perfect encounter point for southern and northern riders, and with its terrain variety makes everyone enjoy each inch of the trails. The first stage of the day will be Full Gas. 1.3km and -214m, perfect to wake up. With a couple of big rocks and a rock garden section will make the riders to quickly get into business. Follow up with the flowy and fast Shoot me/Liam Neeson, to then get into the longest liason of the day to get to Slip n'Slide, the longest stage of the race with 1.6km and -219m. Emerald Express will follow, and legs will burn looking to the last section of the day, the pedaling Vegas trail, the shortest of the day but with a middle section where after almost 30km legs will be burning and each pedal stroke will make it count.
Expect all the best national riders to be on the trails trying hard to get those top positions. Leah Maunsell fresh from her last EWS and before departing to Zermatt will be battling with Hannah Mulling and Meave Baxter for the women overall. Harry Byrne has secured his 1rst overall position but for sure will do his best to get that podium. National enduro champ Kelan Grant, Greg Callaghan, Killian Callaghan, Drew Armstrong, Ian Cotes, Glyn O'Brien, Emmet Callaghan, Scott Wallace, Ross Ennis, Chris Brown, Paul McLoughlin and lot more will be tomorrow in Carrick Mountain, craic is guaranteed.
Roisin Hickey hit the deck hard at the start of the training day, seems nothing is broken but she will need to take a rest from her riding, heal soon!
Chris Brown wants to keep his leadership on the Senior men category
