Norco Team DH - 2010

Jul 15, 2009
by Tyler Maine
For 2010, Norco has stream lined the DH and Park bikes line up. No longer do we see the typical trickle down technology that we've seen in the past. Instead this year the Team DH, the DH, the Aline and the Atomik all share the same frames in looks, but the Aline and Atomiks have heavier tube sets for the rigors of life that a park specific bike leads. Gone are the swoopy tubes and in their place are larger diameter hydroformed ones resulting in a stiffer and stronger all around package.

Check out the specs for the 2010 Norco Team DH and some changes from the 2009 offering below.

There is a huge movement across the board with all Norco bikes to give the end consumer the best value they can in today's economic state. The Team DH is still the flagship DH machine at Norco, but the spec has been adjusted so that it's not out of the ball park for the consumer. A standard DH model has also been introduced as well as offering the same frame set up to the Aline and Atomik owners (but with a heavier tubeset). These are all steps to make bikes that will be ridden, enjoyed and affordable to the end consumer.

The new frame has oversized hydro-formed tubes that will make it stiffer and stronger. While doing this, the swoopy tubes of 2009 were eliminated. Hardware has been upgraded in all models to provide better, longer lasting and more eye pleasing results. The graphics are very distinct between the Park and DH bikes. All models will be offered in 3 sizes (Small, Medium and Large). The new 1.5" head tube is lighter and features an integrated headset on the DH and Team DH. All of the 4 DH and Park bikes will be coming with dual crown forks and running 8 inches of rear travel. All models have a 13.9" BB height and a 64 degree head tube.

Expect to see larger drop outs in the rear (MAXLE compatible) of all the bikes too. The front shock mount is now stationary over the 2009 model to save weight and really no one was using it at the end of the day. The goal for 2010 seems to be making a stiffer, stronger bike at a better value, so I can't frown at that! Congrats Norco on a great DH bike.

The Team DH for 2010 will carry a Canadian MSRP of $5,780, and will weigh in around 40 lbs.

 soooo bitchen!!
  • 1 0
yeah man it looks great , its about time norcos had the looks to match the performance , good job norco
  • 5 0
10 times better LOOKING than last years. at least it looks like the high-end bike that norco's are supposed to be. still nowhere near the top of my wish list, as far as bikes go!
  • 3 0
Good call on getting a coil rear shock and sticking with Rockshox for 2010. My one gripe is that you can't get the DH spec with a heavier duty tubeset. Not everyone who enjoys riding DH wants a paper thin bike.
  • 3 0
I'm pretty sure it's not that thin and it won't break.I'm pretty sure there just doing that to the park bikes because they don't want another massive recall. At least i hope they learned from there mistakes.
  • 4 0
So I guess last year's didn't sell very well if they dropped the spec way down like this. Not all that surprising, few people need WC specs.
  • 5 0
I said bendy tubes were a fad and got neg propped. Guess what turned out to be a fad?
  • 1 0
i'm with ya on that. i hated last years and got neg props big-time. this is better, but still not great.
  • 1 0
These bikes may be more affordable for the rider, but it must have cost a lot of money to Norco. Frown
Those "twisty" tubes from last year (only used for one model year) required (very) expensive molds and process, and going to a new shape for 2010 (also hydroformed) will induce the same costs. That's surely the reason why they're sharing those tubes on different models, making them thicker or thinner not being the most expensive part of the process.

I hope for them they will sell lots of these 2010 models...
  • 2 0
i'm sure norco will be fine. they sell tons of bikes! they took a gamble on following other bike companies with bendy tubes, except they took it way too far, and paid the price.
  • 3 1
f*ck! what is the point of making a more affordable DH model if the top end bike isn't even that great, x7 shifter, ringle hubs... really?! I was looking forward to getting this bike next year, now I'm kinda dissapointed
  • 2 0
never mind the sint cranks, xo derailer, sunline bar/stem,elixer cr, 2010 boxxer, vivid, super D rims you kids complain when its too expensive, then you complain because its cheaper but dosn't have the highest end parts. if you want the best stuff your better off building your own though. i agree with them should have keeping the bike expensive and top balls though
  • 1 1
I was never one to complain that the prices were to high, especially because I work at a Norco retailing shop,I just don't see why they would have everything else really high end and then skimp on a few details that make a big difference, you loose all of the good feel of the x0 derailer when pairing it with a crappy shifter, and the construction of the Ringle hubs is sub-par when compared to DT 440's or Hope Pro 2's that were used in the passed. They should be using the introduction of the DH to keep the Team DH as top notch as possible and use the DH as the "budget" race bike with the stepped down components
  • 3 0
i think they should put some boxxers world cups on it insted of the boxxers team, put the teams on like the a-line of something like that
  • 2 0
 agreed needs a wc.....
  • 2 0
to be honest i think norco has dramatically improved there line up for 2010 over the 2009... and made the team DH AFFORDABLE!! to the every day mountain biker... THANK YOU NORCO!!!
  • 1 0
I ride one of this jewels. =D Its damn smooth on every trail. But it's also playful to ride! GREAT HANDLING! DAMN' LIGHT! It's riding even easier than my 7" Demo... And it got's 9 hucking inches of rearwheeltravel! I LOVE IT! Check out my setup in my album "Stella" to see more.
  • 6 1
greatest norco bike in my opinion
  • 5 1
Sooo much better than the old curvy DH.
Mint parts too, but X7 Shifter seems strange.
Weight?
  • 2 0
We were not able to weigh them today and it is not in the specs. Tomorrow we'll ask for approx. Values on all bikes we plan to post. Thanks
  • 2 0
i see that you are doing the Norco Dealer demo days thing. but i am wondering if PB or anyone may be doing an article and test for the Specialized demo they have going on in parkfield/deer valley.
  • 2 0
Yeah I have an X7 shifter even though everything else is X9. I guess sram dont like giving out full sets on stock.
  • 1 0
To everyone who thinks norco is awesome...

You do realize that Norco still pays royalties to Specialized for the FSR system. Who do you think ends up paying for that in the end? The consumer. As far as I'm concerned, this bike is nothing more than a specialized with a different hat on. Oh, and higher priced...
  • 1 0
Actually the FSR patent is only applicable in the USA. . . North of the 49th there are no royalties paid!
  • 3 0
ewwwww. personally i like the Spec demo much more now that they are coming out with race tuned, specific geometry for 2010.
  • 1 0
Nice Frame and rear shock, but is it just me or they really down graded on the components, although thats probally why its cheaper, but why does Norco continue on using Alex rims?
  • 2 1
Well, in my opinion it doesn't look like great. The tires look cool to the Frame but the Boxxer, mh don't know. Maybe I just need a few Days to find it cool like the last Team DH Big Grin
  • 3 0
am i the only one who thinks its ugly?
much better than previous years though
  • 2 0
thats wierd... pretty much the best spec out there, finished of with the X7 shifter.. or is that a typo?
either way it looks pretty nice
  • 3 0
I guess it is because it says X7 with Matchmaker and I don't think X7 shifters are Matchmaker compatible.
  • 1 0
Not a typo, the idea is to save you the consumer money in the areas that won't affect the end ride. X.7 shifts very nice still and is a LOT less expensive than an X.0
  • 1 0
idk about this bike...the colors suck!!!! red, black, white, grey, tan, shiny black, sliver, and a speck of blue....way to many colors, personally i like my 09 better than this!!!!
  • 1 0
i agree with bikedawg the centre of this bile looks off(not right)
though ill bet this is one bike that can rip down some mean hills
looks kinda wierd but still pretty cool
  • 3 0
nicer than the 09 for sure! but still not my style..
  • 3 0
it kinda looks like a 09 specialized big hit fsr 1
  • 3 0
so much nicer then the bikes they have released in the past two years
  • 3 0
thank goodness there isnt much ridiculous looking curves!
  • 1 1
Instead this year the Team DH, the DH, the Aline and the Atomik all share the same frames in looks"

So that means that the Team DH, A-Line and the Atomik all look like whats pictured? ('10 DH)
  • 1 0
In that they share the same frame shape. The others will have a different tube set (making them heavier and more huckable), while the Team Dh has this build kit and light tube set. The others will have an applicable build kit to fit a suitable riding style to that of Norco's target market for such a bike as the a-line.
  • 3 0
2010 kills the 2009. Poop peep owning the ugly 09 one.
  • 1 0
i like this 2010 way more then the '09 i really didnt like the look of the curve to the '09 fram this one i think looks much better
  • 1 0
I like this one so much more than the '09. The frame is a lot more appealing and the black/red/white color scheme is awesome. Nice work norco! tup
  • 4 1
 SICK
  • 3 0
 giggity
  • 4 3
I don't know what everyone is getting so excited about. This thing is heinous!!! Looks like it should be sold at Wal-mart.
  • 2 0
so much nicer than the 09!!!!
  • 1 3
YUK! Whats with the rock shox rear shock?? Fox or rocco please. I was looking forward to gettin a 2010 team frame, but it looks to me like they are cutting corners to cut costs. If I wanted an inexpensive Dh bike I'd get the Aline , so why make the Team heavier crappier and cheaper??
  • 1 0
yeah, much better than last years team dh, doesnt have the curvy frame for one thing.. sooo much better sweet,
  • 1 0
i didnt like the 09 till i saw it in person. soi guess ill wait till i see this one in person to judge it
  • 1 0
a vast improvement on last years model, glad to see norco getting away from stupidly over hydroformed tubes.
  • 1 0
i think i liked the blue and silver team DH better.. but im inlove with the boxers
  • 1 0
for some reason , looking at the frame colors it reminds me of like a 05 wolverine. Sorry
  • 2 1
WOW, looks 100% nicer than the last curvey beast they released, defiantly on my wish list. Smile
  • 1 0
 What you mean with sense?
Parts and all the stuff or just the Style / Frame?
  • 2 0
Wow! Wow! Wow! Thats not too bad! I like it!
  • 1 2
i said it last year and i'll say it again this year sorry norco, your not making my cut, that thing is still prettier than your 09, but doesn't do it for me. forget the parts on it, its just ugly.
  • 1 2
 AGREED
  • 3 2
Nice build, ugly ass frame though looks like a canadian tire frame ccm or some shit hahaa
  • 1 0
2010=another visual failure. For $6000 its gotta ride good and look even better.
  • 2 0
weighs 40 pounds!!! thats fkin heavy.. but its pretty nice anyways
  • 1 0
Finally! Norco has finally created something with sense.
  • 2 1
Why they alway choose nevegal ???
  • 2 1
Awsome work on the bike NORCO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Smile
  • 1 0
I disagree I think they could of made alot more cooler.

  • 2 1

  • 1 0
they steped bavk up from last year
  • 1 0
 siiiiiiiick aaaaaaaaasssssss thats really mad
  • 2 2
never have liked the old norcos, but this one i like! be interesting to know how much it weighs though...
  • 2 0
Try actually reading the article. They cleverly hid that info in there.
  • 1 0
We did not have the weights at first and added them after, 40lbs is the weight.
  • 1 1
anyone got any idea on price of the team DH ? i heard its gonna be around the £7000 price mark, not sure if its true though
  • 2 0
 7000gbp for a norco!? f*ck off.
  • 1 0
i don't find it strange if it will cost £7000,i remember a Judge DH that cost just as much
  • 2 0
You could build a tip top intense 951 for that much! why would anyone spend so much on a Norco when they could have any other bike in the industry and then some for the same amount?

Besides, it says at the bottom of the article that the rrp is $5,780 CAD, so about £3,000. Does £7000 still look right to you? Didnt think so.
  • 1 0
$4750 USD is the MSRP for the Team DH.
  • 1 0
haha, i love the edit comment button.
  • 1 3
It definitely looks cheaper this year to me, and the new graphics appear to be the same typeface as Rocky from a few years back. Oh well. If it's cheaper, it'll certainly get more riders on it. Good move I think.
  • 1 0
WAYYYYYYY less ugly than years past. Thanks you.
  • 1 0
alot cheaper than last year too
  • 1 0
Better than what they have done... But by far not best. Period.
  • 1 0
 anyone know the frame mrsp??
  • 1 1

  • 1 0
 Thats more like it!
  • 6 6
looks nice..good choice on the vivid!
  • 8 2
desapointing to see that u can no longer adjust the head angle and travel...that is one thing i loved about A-lines, they were adjustable to every situation...sweet bike anyway
  • 97 16
To be entirely honest, I've never really liked Norco apart from maybe the 05 A-line frames. And I think, despite its un-curvy-ness, its still an ugly bike. The frame looks really out of proportion in terms of how big it is, and the tubing - to me - just looks cheap. Negative prop me for having an oppinion if thats how you roll.
  • 12 4
i dunno, i gotta say i like the crazy hydroformed norco more, but still looks pretty nice
  • 3 6
 VIVID for the win!
  • 6 5
I'm not a fan of this frame. I'm sure they havnet, but it looks like theyve ripped off commencals basical frame shape and curved it a bit. Still, sweet forks Wink
  • 10 1
why not a boxxer world cup
  • 6 8
FINALLY norco is making decent looking bikes again
  • 6 0
I do think that even though it doesn't look the best, Norco has had a very good reputation of building a dependable bike that will ride with the intentions they meant for it, which means it'll ride well. We must also remember that its function over fashion, even though fashion is a factor.
  • 2 1
so you would pay 7000$ or so for something that looks hack. i think if your paying that much you should get something that looks pretty good
  • 3 4
this is the first norco i think i could stand riding.. not bad
  • 2 0
 ratherberidin: $5,780 CAD
  • 3 0
 last year wasnt it 7000
  • 2 1
ok, pretty cool , but the white seatpost failssss
  • 2 1
you all will remember that bikes always look better in person, and thats not an accual white seat post, thats raw.
  • 2 0
if you look at all the pics you'll notice it is in fact white, it kinda fools you in a couple of them. whatev
  • 3 4
idk about this bike...the colors suck!!!! red, black, white, grey, tan, shiny black, sliver, and a speck of blue....way to many colors, personally i like my 09 better than this!!!!
  • 2 2
 colours aint important u poo
  • 2 1
 they actually kinda are....
  • 2 1
errr yes so having different colours on your bikes going to shave time off your race run, dude face reality
  • 2 1

  • 2 2
 It looks like a flatline!
