Reg Mullet and Mark Haimes (aka Kram) celebrating the end of their 27th lap in just under 24 hours on Mount 7. It rained heavily on them during their night laps, making it a true test of rider and bikes.
While a UCI representative was on hand for the full 24 hours of riding, they now have to review video footage to make sure that everything was up to spec for this World Record ride and to give an official distance covered (Vertical Descent on an MTB in 24 hours). Once all the boxes have been checked we'll be able to turn this "unofficial" into an Official World Record. (
each lap is approx +/- 4000 vert feet, so you're looking at over 100000 vert of descending in 24 hours on one of the most rugged DH trails around)
The duo would like to send out huge thanks to their sponsors:
Calgary Cycle, DVO Suspension, Light & Motion, NRG, Race Face, Santa Cruz Bicycles, Spruce Race Timing and Troy Lee Designs.Stay tuned for full recap and video soon. You have to have a great support crew to pull off a ride like this.
Next up; how many brake pads did you both go through?
So did they stop at 19hrs 27min then???
