Photos By Brad QuartuccioNAHBS stages a carefully judged awards competition each year that has grown in importance to the point where bike makers may spend upwards of a year to build a winning contender. @srjacobs: I totally get where you're coming from. NAHBS is for sure more of a boutique thing than "what's the raddest most rowdy most advanced bike". I 100% see why this bike wouldnt be for everyone or top their list as a top mtb. This is by far more of a Radavist reader type expo than a PinkBike reader bike show. Different strokes for sure.
For instance, the Houston Texans made the NFL playoffs this past season, despite being bad at offense, defense, and playing football. The teams they competed against to get into the playoffs were worse.
The bike has a subtle appeal, its not shouting for attention (minus the bags obv) but it all hangs together well as an art piece.

Modern MTB HTs designed for 1x drivetrains, can't go above a certain size chainring without it rubbing on the chainstay.
(Just my guess, but it seems plausible)
