Of the nearly 400 riders who participated this weekend in the fourth date of the National Championship Montenbaik Enduro Series, few finished the race unharmed. Among the cactus and rocks of the five special stages of La Serena, wheels and tires found their final destination, and there were lots of spines taken away as souvenirs under the skin. Take this and add a good dose of adrenaline with many liters of cold Kross beer at the finish line and it's easy to understand why we had one of the best and most demanding races in the season.

During the day Saturday, along with the training day, we had the second Montenbaik Enduro Kids as had been done on Curacavi. The race layout brought together the entire family and small riders racing in the different categories from 2 to 13 years old. That same day, we also had a special Enduro MTB skills classes with expert Antonio Leiva, Extreme Zone racer and Enduro Kids' supporter with his brand Kido Outdoors.

A new generation of montenbaikers is coming with the young categories of Montenbaik Enduro Kids.

The race day at Estancia La Varilla started cloudy, remembering that we were on the Pacific coast. The mixture of the desert terrain with the sea breeze is one of the main characteristics of La Serena, where we could find different types of grip, depending on which side of the mountain was the trail.

The Enduro2 pilots left with the special stage Corazón Partío, a variant of the traditional track that goes over 700m above sea level. The Enduro1 went to Huachalaruca and then climbed up to the antennas of Cerro Grande to inaugurate El Soñado, a fairly technical track with a steep slope, very well worked by Pierre Plaza and the #MontenbaikTrailbuilders along with the Serena locals.

The classic Nass trail, with its arrival in the race village received the two categories and provided a nice spectacle for the public. From there the Enduro 2 went to fill their glasses while the Enduro 1 ended the day with La Varilla stage and its slippery and endless switchbacks.

Sunbeams appeared through the clouds to illuminate the final moments of the race and crown the champions of La Serena. Mauricio Acunã from the SXS Team was the fastest of the day with 19:41.71, followed by Milciades Jaque of Masterbikes and Antonio Ovalle, private rider.

Among women, Florence Espinera of Team Trek Subaru remains undefeated. Even with a puncture during the race, he finished first with 23:15.79, followed by Antonia Wurth and Laura Munizaga, both from SXS Team. See the full results here.
