Yeaaaaahhh!!!! Once again, hardtails are the best mountain bikes I know so far, especially with the aggressive geometries we have nowadays. It is such a pleasure to ride machines like those. Every mountain biker should have a hardtail reimbursed by the health insurance I think PS: Is this Marin an alloy frame, I think so, but not sure.... Steel is better anyway
"Every mountain biker should have a hardtail reimbursed by the health insurance I think" or at least the physio you'll need on your back and ankles if you ride one regularly after a certain age...
@BenPea: nah, never felt more load on my ankles on HT. Especially when riding clipped in. My wrists can’t tell that about a rigid fork... whenever I ride BMX the next day my wrists feel like dry, rusty bearings.
@BenPea: I don't know either, but riding a HT clipped in, feels for me like having 50-100mm of travel in the rear. It's way smother. With flats I have to brace myself more and worry about keeping feet on pedals.
I've never ridden a Marin, but I really like the way their approaching the market. They've got a number of bikes that look like a lot of fun and seem affordable for a good chunk of the biking population. I hope they're doing well sales wise.
Just bought a Cube reaction TM only had it a few weeks but it's definitely the best hard tail I could find for the money £1599.99 but got it for £899.99 in the black Friday sales 130mm FOX rhythm 34's magura brakes with 180m rotors 4 callipers on the front and 2 at the rear 27.5x2.6 Schwalbe nobby nic's addix speedgrip 1x SLX drive with an E13 chainguide a decent dropper post and race face/fsa finishing kit couldn't really ask for much more for the price
The dude runs a less aggressive tyre -Forekaster- in the front and a Minion DHR II in the back. Most people would run them the other way around..Very interesting...
I have long travel legs, I’m 6’4 and my legs are 1000mm, hydraulic spring and the stanchions are thick enough to stop them from buckling under large loads. I’m looking to trade them for a nice hard tail, serious inquiries only
The joy of the hardtail is building your own. Check the ICAN carbon frames. Recalculate geo with longer/shorter travel, then adjust frame reach with the perfect bar/stem using your saddle and dropper set up.
PS: Is this Marin an alloy frame, I think so, but not sure.... Steel is better anyway
