This is our fourth collection with Maloja and we know we can rely on their flair for fresh looks, passion for premium products and acute attention to detail. In 2022, bikers can once again choose between performance and lifestyle clothing.

Bikewear highlights:

Gravity jerseys: Our long- and short-sleeve gravity jerseys with matching trail shorts are absolute bikewear classics. Streetwear highlights:

The MAGURA by Maloja streetwear collection features stylish t-shirts, shorts, a sweat jacket and a classic check shirt. Many of our products are made from 100% organic cotton or fabric blends with a natural feel, making them more comfortable than ever to wear. One of the highlights is the new cord shorts made from a blend of stretch corduroy and stretch hemp.

The subtle design of our streetwear collection makes it easy to mix and match with other items. Prints include a stylized image of the ruins of Hohenurach Castle, a famous landmark in Bad Urach, the town at the foot of the Swabian Alb where Magura was founded. This is bound to be a highlight for fans of the long-standing German brand.

All these companies making apparel now and it is harder than ever to get swag for the shop staff to wear. Back in the day reps would show up with t-shirts, stickers and coffee mugs etc. Now they show up with a "pro deal" discount on that stuff. I mean really, you want my guy in the shop to rep your brand to the hundreds of people he interacts with, buy him the shirt. Advertising isn't free. Why should I pay to advertise for you???????

Why should you customers pay for your clothes via increased prices. All that free swag is paid for by customers buying the brands products

@chrismac70: Any company, that advertises its product/service funds the advertising from the sale of the product or service. That is how it works, for like centuries.....Any industry, anywhere.
Shippng container price from shanghai to new york Late 2019: $1,500. Mid 2021: $17,000 CAD.
That is just one of the way bigger reasons for price increases lately. Shirts for shoprats is a drop in the bucket.

Also, to clarify the "why should I pay" comment was from the perspective of the employee that personally buys the discounted shirt to wear at work, when in the past they would be gifted it by the brand.

@NotSoFresh: I know all about shipping costs thanks my employer ships stuff in from China all the time and it has gone through the roof. My point is that the freebies aren’t free. The customer pays for them. It’s the customers who should be thanked when a brand gives you freebies not the brand

@chrismac70: No they are not free. Mcdonalds employees wear uniforms funded by the burgers because wearing them helps sell more burgers. Shop rats wearing Magura shirts sell more brakes. Both are as much advertising as newspaper ads. It gets your brand in front of people. As such, shop swag comes from the advertising budget. As I said, all advertising budget always comes from the product sale.
I never talked about who to thank BTW. If anything the company should thank the shop rat for advertising for them regardless of who pays for the shirt.

Manufacturers can absolutely give the shop crew free kit. If the contract with the shop is a guaranteed sale and the distribution chain is direct or close to it is cost effective to kit out the shop. The cost of goods is more then likely $.09 per $1 retail, so all of those $50 shirts cost ~$4.50 each before shipping

There are simply too many apparel companies in the world today, and not just in mountain biking. Developed countries discard far too much clothing after it "goes out of style" and push it on other, poorer countries as if we're doing them a favor. www.vox.com/the-goods/22700581/aja-barber-consumed-book-fast-fashion-ghana

Are my 20 year old free t-shirts I-got-from-bike-races-but-still-wear out of style yet?

That just shows how much profit there is in it

Magura has a clothing line now. Full stop.

Can I wear a gravity jersey if I'm just going on a quick trail ride?
  • 2 0
@Lemmyschild: It's probably not recommended as it may affect your performance.

All of these bike and bike adjacent companies seem to be pivoting to apparel much more this year. Or at least, it seems like every other day on Pinkbike has an announcement of a new collection from a brand that one doesn't normally think of as an apparel brand. I'm assuming this is a result of supply chain and companies having to pivot to whatever they can sell since their actual product releases (brakes, bikes, etc..) are at a standstill due to supply chain?

Because a shirt costs like $4 to print, ship, and re-ship to the customer and they can charge $30 for it. Profit margins too big to ignore.
  • 1 0
@b2bikes: I bet they cost alot less than that to buy

Every bike brand talks about sustainability….the. Every bike brand goes out and starts a fast fashion apparel line. Yep. Sure.

Went for ride at popular trail yesterday, everyone looks the same, same style helmet, same subtle earth tone jerseys and shorts. It’s like everyone shops at same place and/or sees same advertisements.

My point is mountain bike fashion is faddish like all other clothes fashion. Break free from the tyranny of style and be yourself.

My teenage son and all his friends are opting much more for BMX and skate-inspired clothing when they're just riding and not racing. That's probably because they do a ton of sessioning stuff and dirt jumping instead of long trail rides, but it's all cuffed baggy khakis, vans, white socks, and t-shirts. Most of their riding clothes are coming from the thrift shop instead of the bike shop.

But wait, two years ago everyone was complaining about all the bright colors. I for one enjoy the brights. People will complain no matter what you market.
  • 1 0
@poncho467: exactly my point, good on you for not rushing out and buying the latest colours that are in style this year.
  • 6 0
They need to stop, to brake the cycle.

that woman is about to go over the bars in the first picture
  • 1 0
I though the same thing. She’s too hard on the brakes.

Apparel and sunglasses. Thats where the margins are if you want to get rich.
  • 1 0
And when does cows are milked comes in the cologne. Even greater margins.
  • 1 0
Why would anybody ever buy clothing from Magura, even when they don't break as much as their brake handles? Can people really such fans of a components brand to go all in on. Or is that just another chance for them for some press - good or bad doesn't matter.

wow another great news article that is not just an ad!

Sweet. I'm going to wear this stuff while using my 7mesh brakes.

For those who don‘t know, this is actually Maloja clothing with a Magura sticker.

If I run SRAM gearing, Shimano brakes, and Magura clothing I will be using the only acceptable application of the big 3 manufacturers.
  • 2 0
 Ooh controversial

That's great, but if someone could make clothes that fit more than just a scrawny person then that would be a massive improvement
