Spotted on Ben Cathro's Instagram, Loic Bruni could be out of the running in Croatia with a suspected dislocated elbow. Fingers crossed that it's nothing serious and Loic makes a full and speedy recovery!
Bruni’s bike just brought down hill. Suspected dislocated elbow! Shit luck dude @loicbruni29 #Cathrovision *EDIT* just wanted to add that this is 2nd hand info so not 100% guaranteed to be correct. Came from Specialised team lorry driver.*EDIT*—Ben Cathro
First Claudio in hospital and now Loic potentially out?! People asked for chellending DH WC tracks and it certainly seems like we have one here. Hope he's OK, good luck boys and girls!
To me there is a difference between challenging to ride and dangerous/painful to crash onto. I'm all for a challenging course. If fact, I'd rather see that than something open and easy rolling so that riders need to go at insane speeds to take the top spot. Same here. I'd rather see them pick themselves up after a crash than that they slam themselves into a solid wall. Sure the mental aspect to deal with those conditions are arguably also part of the sport, but personally I'd rather see them all in one piece and put on a display of amazing riding.
@vinay: True - Those rock walls lining the course - is doom if you get off line and catch a handlebar or right into it. It's not like a tree. Those are more spaced out. And the urban aspect - well, maybe leave urban, urban- those guys know the consequences of that. Keep DH dirt. (preferable non park), but it is what it is. Let's just hope there are no more injuries! Bruni out stinks!
@vinay: Any challenging track is going to cause injury (its a extreme sport) track have been getting worse over the years (easy rolling and smooth) and don't know about you but it puts me off wanting to push the sport to its limits, don't see f1 Tracks going in a straight line because its safer, think the sport should be more challenging rather than just fast tracks STEEP AND ROUGH RULES
@jrocksdh: because its something they know. Cameras flatten things out, but everyone knows what a staircase looks like and how high a 2 storey building is, and how big a car is when you put it in the middle of a gap jump. If you dont know mtb trails, or have never seen a pro video of something you personally find difficult, you don't truly appreciate it.
@vinay: Agreed. To me there is a difference between a good challenging course and something that is difficult simply because its almost unridable. Like a track littered with sharp rocks is hard and very difficult, but is it good kind of difficult? Jumps/gaps that are hard to clear because there is barely enough speed on the course? That again would be 'challenging" but does it make for a good track?
Ironic, after he criticized the track so heavily for being too easy, based on the first helmet cam footage he saw in the offseason. Total bummer to have one of the fastest guys out there, and a near automatic podium guy, off the track and out for possibly the whole season if it really is a dislocated elbow, hope that 1) it's not as serious as reported 2) Loic heals up quickly
@LaXcarp: I dislocated my elbow in 2014 and that tore all my ligaments there and broke my radius and I was out for 1.5 years. I hope Bruni is not in that worst case scenario and he can race to his full potential!
@LaXcarp: i did mine and was probably back on a bike within 6 weeks at easy pace, feeling at ok speed within months, but it took a year or two to feel right. Wouldn't like to be having to race a WC on it within that first few months!
Loic is an animal. I hope he heals quickly but at the same time I hope he uses his best judgment as it would suck even more if he rode on a bad elbow and made it worse to the point he would be out the whole season.
Best of luck Loic!
Poor Bruni. I hope that he heals quickly, he always seems committed with his lines and speed on track.
A few years back there were always riders out injured and pushing the speed v technical envelope was tricky.
I have to think that maybe tracks have become a little sanitized over the last few years and the riders have forgotten or some maybe never knew what it was like to ride with these lower speed, high risk sections that are flatter and gravity doesn't get you out of trouble.
What a bummer....hopefully it isn't more than a dislocation
I thought I had a dislocated elbow after one of my crashes but only an xray showed much more
Fingers crossed it is minor and he will be back
That sucks! Picked him to win this event. Hopefully it's nothing serious? I mean, a lorry driver isn't a Dr. 2 riders down already, Claudio and now Loic. Rough, rough track. Hopefully the rest of the runs stay clean.

Losinj: “You were saying?”
I read this news with 20mins to go on locking down my fantasy team so quickly switched Brunei for Gwinn.
Now it's too late to get Brunei back
