PRESS RELEASE: Les Arcs Enduro2

trailAddiction and 4Events are pleased to confirm new dates for the world's original pairs-format Enduro race: Enduro2 in Les Arcs, France is back on Friday 28th to Sunday 30th August 2020.

As with many other events this year, Enduro2 was affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the early-July dates were impossible to maintain. But by working closely with the resort and taking good account of guidelines as the situation develops, the organisers are now very confident that the event can go ahead as planned, at the end of August.

Pairs-Format Enduro Racing is back on the calendar this summer: 28-30 August 2020

We are very especially encouraged by recent reports of planned re-opening of borders within Europe, and a special travel agreement between the UK, France and ROI. The station of Les Arcs has confirmed it will be fully operational from 4th July onwards and is even considering extending its lift season into September for the first time ever. Meanwhile, the French government has now made it clear that events below 5000 individuals will be permitted from mid-July onwards. Even the Tour de France (which passes past Enduro2's HQ in Bourg St Maurice this year), has now been rescheduled to start on 29 August.

Event plans will be adapted accordingly to maintain social distancing according to WHO and government guidelines. Fortunately, the Enduro2 staggered-start format and our reliance on ski-lifts (instead of vehicle shuttles), is helpful under these circumstances. We still intend to organise an end-of-season BBQ-party at Charly's Factory Bar and in the Funicular parking area to include live music and a DJ, based at Charly's Factory...but the extent of this will be subject to any restrictions remaining in force, around mass gatherings.

Great views and 10,000m+ of descent await the teams...

100 Free Entries to Give Away
The Enduro2 motto has always been 'The Buzz of a Good Ride is Better When Shared' and that opportunity feels more privileged than ever, right now. So, in celebration of this we would like to extend an invitation to all riders to share the Enduro2 experience of mountain biking together, as we emerge from this difficult time; with a free final-day-only race entry for 100 riders (50 teams of 2). Join us for free on Sunday 30th August and stay on for the after-party on Sunday afternoon. This includes a free lift pass and 3 epic timed stages with over 2000m of vertical in total. And no, there's no catch, except to have fun (and please, don't take one of our much-coveted free slots unless you really do intend to turn up!).

If you are keen for the full 3-Day / 10,000m+ Enduro2 Experience, then that's still an option too, with around 40 team slots still available for the full event at the time of writing.

Further info and sign-up options are available on the Enduro2 website.

Good luck with that ‘special travel agreement between the UK and France’ and the 14 day quarantine announced for people entering both countries whatever side of the Channel you live on.

Indeed, the announcements made only a few hours after this press release were a little disappointing and caught us by surprise considering the talk of recent weeks (ref: new quarantine measures for travel between the UK and France). However, that could well change again for the better before the end of August (we are expecting that in fact, it will do) if the current downward trajectory or COVID-19 is maintained on both sides of the channel.

That aside, Enduro2 is a very trans-European event with multiple-nationalities (last year more than 20 nations were represented out of 300 riders). And news from within the EU/Schengen Zone is much more promising.

PS Don't, whatever you do, mention Brexit. :-)

Good luck, I really hope the Alps have a summer season.

Thanks! I think its fairly sure now that the Alps are opening up soon (Les Gets/Morzine is firing up the ski lifts from 30 May onwards). The bigger question is how many from the UK and ROI are going to be able to get over the channel...or if they do, will they be able to get home again afterwards?

Then again, it could be the perfect excuse to call back to work from the top of a Mountain in France and say you won't be back in for a few months owing to having been refused entry at the border!
