Get with the times folks! Who wouldn't want a little extra power? My buddy knows one of the Transition R&D guys and he said they're working on something that might eliminate the need to pedal for good! Guess that'll be next year.
I know a guy who got a felony for slapping ass on trail as he was riding by...new world out there.
He had to have an ankle bracelet, couldn't go to beaches...crazy ish for a 1st time offense.
Awesome, there's a guy who buzzes down our local trails with one of those motors on a supercycle. It's time to get one of these and give him a run for his money.
Classic. I remember someone was trying to sell off some of these bikes complete here with really poor quality bikes on the local Craigslist. There where allot of people hating on it. I wonder how many fools actually bought those piles?
Interesting that Transition is marketing to people who don't like the e-Bike concept. This must be a significant demographic. My shop sells Transition. We also sell Haibike e-Bikes. Our policy is to make sure to tell e-Bike customers that they are only allowed on motorized trails, and we have plenty of those to choose from.
Those engine kits actually are for sale though. I thought about putting one on a cheap bike to ride to work, but the way the rear cog bolts on gets in the way of the disc brake and Im not messing with rim brakes. www.bikeberry.com/gas-engine-kits/gas-engine-kits.html
@arphia: you can get mid drive petrol kits from sick bikes and keep your rear disc and keep the 80 cc in the power band by running it through the gears.
@arphia: I helped my son put one of those things on an 80s Kuwahara mountain bike. Too much power, constantly having to adjust things. The solid rear axle became bent in more ways than I'd ever seen. To quote Ralph Nader: "Unsafe at any speed!"
What's with the fake motor sounds does the thing even run??? Also why no actual shot of the guy riding with power from the motor he was doing an awful lot of pedaling for having a motor
Transition seem rather comfortable in their current market position and I am happy to see them taking a light hearted jibe at what is one of the most confusing products available - the E bike.
Each to their own but unless you have a health condition, are old or recovering from injury an e bike is not something you should have any interest in whatsoever, it completely goes against what cycling is by defenition, please stay away from normal mtb trails and find your own space to use them.
love it!
